Artists to Action – Gängeviertel in Hamburg

Not far from my neighborhood there is a little area that is called Gängeviertel. About 12 houses that are really old – some of the few left over in Hamburg of this construction. This area was the living area for the very poor workers and a couple years ago an investor bought those houses with the plan to demolish about 80% and build up something modern. But then they hadn’t had money and now for years those houses are just stand there empty, they rot and it looks as if some day those historic houses will be just demolished at all.

Last weekend about 200 artists – a lot of them art students – squated the houses and put installations, paintings, sculptures, spray art  – art in every imaginable way into the rooms of those houses. And finally the city started talking to them and right now it looks as if they can stay for a time and the rooms will be opened to the public in case they are safe.

So I have been there several times to see if some more reopened – and I will be back for sure- but here are some things I saw so far.

Crazy Times and Sneaks

It is sooo crazy right now- LOL . First I had to work overtime for three weeks as my collegue was on vacation. Now I have to prepare a looooooottt of workshop stuff for workshops I’m looking so forward to. On top I do have to pack four rooms since we decided to put two new skylights into the roof next week and change rooms. Yep – I get a new scraproom. It is actually making me a bit sad, but it has good reasons and my husband triggered me with putting a skylight into the waaaayyyy smaller and darker room. And well….have I ever told you, that since I have been in a wonderful house of friends in Berkeley, CA with skylights I’m a total lover of skylights? So anyway….the crazy times are harming me with not so much time to create and I cravvvveee it. But here are some sneaks of projects I can show you in a couple days :)

Wishing you a gorgeous day!

Wünsche Euch einen supertollen Tag!

Project 365 – Week 34

Such a crazy and exciting week – I liked it :) So here we go with pictures again- sorry about the photo overload at the time, but I was so busy I hadn’t had time to create – or what I created I can’t show at the moment! But I promise I get better ;)

*229/365*

Lunch with Liz – such wonderful time :)

*230/365*

Such a nice evening. Had an office party on our office balcony- with bbq, music from YouTube on our Computers and cake and fun :)

*231/365*

Day went by in a blur – packing, organising, cleaning, “migraine-ing”. Niles “why are you doing this to me???”

*232/365*

Arrived in Odense, Denmark. The cute street where Hans Christian Andersen was born just across MultiScrap where I taught.

*233/365*

Love this pic of Iben- that was too funny!

*234/365*

Somebody got a new hammock ;) Happy Anniversary!

*235/365*

Did a bicycle tour – went on the ferry to go to the other side of the river and rode around there. Fun, beautiful  and relaxed day.

Wishing you a gorgeous start into the week!!!!

Back from Denmark and Happy Anniversary :)

I’m back from Denmark and after a couple hours sleep – I thought I would share some pictures from the Workshops with you- before my hubby and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had a wonderful time in Denmark – and Iben from MultiScrap did a gorgeous job to make me feel at home, also Heidi! – and actually all of you girls in Denmark are the sweetest- it felt like coming home :)

*Workshops at MultiScrap*

The Prima Winners of that day. You have to be aware that this was the hottest day of the year in Germany and in Denmark. I think we do a great job to look cool- LOL

After a fun morning with Heidi – who is organizing the Scrapbooking Convention in October 2009 and March 2010 I taught a non-Prima Workshop. Summer Senses – it was about all different Embossing Techniques and Design Principles – mostly about how to tackle to work with different patterend papers.

Love how concentrated everybody works :)

Then I taught the Prima Tribute Album Workshop which was so much fun. I had fun to see all the different results :)

even had someone who lives in Connecticut :)

Prima Winner of that day :)

As said, I had a wonderful time and I’m really looking forward to come back in March and maybe some other time next year ;)

(this is a Google translation – so if there is something weird written – LOL – it wasn’t intended to be ;)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Euch ein schönes Wochenende!

Hej from Denmark :)

I’m in Denmark right now – so much fun. I arrived in Odense after a 4 hour train ride and Heidi who is the organizer of the Scrapbookconventions in Denmark picked me up. We had a wonderful afternoon – and we even payed Hans Christian Andersen a visit :)

Then I had my first class at Ibens wonderful and huge scrapbooking store “Multi Scrap“. If you are ever in the area you really have to come and visit the store! The class was super fun too – lot’s of techniques for my students- lot’s of fun :), lot’s of Danish jokes I didn’t get- hahahah!

Starting this afternoon I will teach two more workshops and I’m looking forward to seeing me students :)

Workshops in Germany – Scrapbook-Werkstatt

I’m so thrilled to announce that I will be teaching workshops along with my fellow PrimaDonna Artist Educators Jen Starr and Tracie Hudson at Scrapbook-Werkstatt in Linsengericht on September 12 and 13,2009. It is a wonderful store that newly opened and the two owners are already close to my heart. It is going to be an awesome Prima Donna Event and I would love to see you there!!!

Family Get-Away Workshop – September 12 – 20.00 Uhr

ETERNAL LOVE Workshop – September 13 – 9.00 Uhr

Wishing you an amazing day!!!

My two wonderful grand aunts and me in the Lüneburger Heide. It was such a fun afternoon. My favorite saying by Aunt Margot who turns 90 in December: “This time we have a lot of REALLY old people in our travel group!” Me “Ahhh – how old is really old?” She “Well, one of the woman is 91!!!!!”  It was a running gag the whole afternoon ;)

OK- wishing you a wonderful day!!!
