Be Unique

Growing up in Düsseldorf in Germany Karneval played a huge part of my youth. Being the fifth season of a year there are lot’s of Parades, Rose Monday- where most of all official life in Rhineland stops – awesome when you are young and don’t have to go to school :), and dressing up. So recently I found a  treasure photo of my Mom regarding Karneval.

* Be Unique*

The picture shows my Mom and her friend Carnival ca. 1979. My Mom is Bee Willi (on the right) and her friend the Bee Maja. Anyone remember this (was this even in the States?)

Erinnert Ihr Euch an Biene Maja?

gymnastic dress, yellow duck tape, yellow plastic bags for the wings and there you go – you have a bee costum. I think they look gorgeous with those police men ;) And I love how happy my Mom looks on this picture in this really tough time for her.

It was broadcast in the Netherlands too and I loved it so much that I also watched the show in German. Actually… I watched a lot of German Television back then: Sendung mit der Maus, Sesamstrasse, Wicki, Heidi… :-D

Sorry to say that I have never heard of the bee show here in the US. I do however love this LO: the colors are so festive and the title is eye-catching as well.

Being from the North of course we frown at things like Karneval…but I adore this picture! Love the layout and I totally remember Maja and Willie
Ugh, shall I be worried that the lyrics are still totally engrained din my brain?

Canvas MiniAlbums *Tattered Angels*

I want to show you two mini albums I had taught the last year and have not shown yet. They are both made with Canvas pages.

LiebeIstMinialbumTA_01

For the album I had cut out 6?x6? pieces of canvas fabric and then sprayed with different techniques with Glimmer Mist over Glimmer Screens and added our wonderful Screen Print Clear Stamps. A wonderful way to show that love is a lot of different little things in a relationship.

LiebeIstMinialbumTA

The second minialbum was created almost the same way – it is a 3×6? size.

I love how you can add lot’s of texture and techniques by adding canvas pages. One of my favorite things to play with is to see how different the Glimmer Mist settles on the non treated and treated side of  canvas fabric. As you can see in the “Liebe ist…” Album the Glimmer misted screen images are more subtile and a bit dreamy and blurry. This is because I used the gesso treated pages here. On the pages for the minialbum below I used the non-treated pages – so the Glimmer Mist could settle right in which ends in a very crisp and sharp image.

close to yourheart

Canvas- sooo awesome- I love this surface :)

Wishing you a wonderful day/night!

Awesome Nat! I am working on a canvas album and wondered if I need to put a coat of something over the finished product? I think that it is untreated (it’s by Maya Road). Maybe I’ll review your online course for suggestions:-)

Last Minute Christmas Tags *SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L*

It is this time of the year where we are celebrating the holidays with our loved ones and as all of you I’m looking forward to spend lot’s of time with them. Nonetheless the last days before Christmas are filled with lot’s of tasks – and one of them is wrapping up the gifts and labeling them. I love doing my own tags for Christmas gifts

Christmas2010_01_3L

This year I used all kind’s of scraps that were still laying around my craft area to build up some tags and my trusty SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L products helped me creating them in a fast and easy way.

I used a sheet of Adhesive sheets and used it partly on the paper doily.

ChristmasTag_01

Then I sprinkled some German Glitter on top.

ChristmasTag_02

Then I sprayed a Tattered Angels Tag and as you need a very trusty tacky Adhesive to place it on top of the German Glitter – I happily took out my Crafty Power Tape.
ChristmasTag_03

Voila – the tag sticks perfectly on top of the glitter doily.

ChristmasTag_04

To create a rosetta I used some Tattered Angels Crepe Paper and the MyStik Permanent Strip Dispenser and run it around a scalloped piece of scrap paper.
ChristmasTag_05

To add some dimension I used the 3D Foam Squares to apply the scallop on top.

ChristmasTag_06

I also used the Click’n Stick Mounting Squares clear and folded them together to use them to stick down the flower on top. They are awesome to use for buttons as well.

ChristmasTag_07

There are many possibilties to create a Christmas tag – just count on your SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L products and all will be looking good ?

Layout: Baby, it’s cold outside *Tattered Angels*

It is coooold – brrrrrr – how is it in your neck of the wood?

ColdOutside01

Over an acrylic painted background I used a Tattered Angels Screen with clear Gesso and then sprayed with Iridiscent Gold Glimmer Mist so the textured background pops up even more.

ColdOutside03

Then I dropped some Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Sprayed the  Star Mirrors with Cornflower and and Concord Chalkboard and also dropped some Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam on top. Sprayed the Tag with the same colors. I clipped off the watch top of the Framed Font and first added some Pewter Gimmer Glaze onto the frame, then spayed with Mint Chocolate Mint and Concord. I used some stamps of the wonderful new Tattered Angels Winter Stamp Set to set off the title.

ColdOutside02

The photo shows the Hamburg Harbour at the beginning of this year…baby it was cold back then too ;) Sending warm thoughts your way :)

Tattered Angels: The Power of Colors

Fall is in full force here and although I’m a total summer girl- I have always also loved Fall. Things are calming down and …although especially in rainy Hamburg…I get the blues some days in Fall, I absolutely love the colors that nature has to offer at this time around!

I love to reflect my feelings above about fall in the colors of my layout “Simple Beautiful Fall”:

For the blue feeling that goes along with fall I chose the wonderful Chalkboard Colors Cornflower and Concord. I had spread some white acrylic paint over the Garden Lattice Screen and then sprayed the Chalkbaords right over it into the still wet acrylic paint. For the beautiful Simple Sayings Title from Heidi Swapps Collection and the wonderful frame that I cut out of the new paper Misting Magic, I used the Glimmer Mist Fall Color Sugar Maple and the Winter Color Jingle Bells. I used the same Colors also for the Framed Fonts.

Colors are such a wonderful way to express feelings and emotions- it is one of my favorite design tools- try it :)

If you want to visit one of my workshops in the future I would love to have you – or contact me if you want me to come. You can find me teaching some new Tattered Angels Workshops for example here:

DT-Work: Scary Halloween Projects *Tattered Angels*

Our assignment for September was to create something Halloween related and so I did :) SCARY!!!

*Imagination*

I had asked my friend if she would have some Halloween photos for me – since we do not really celebrate Halloween in Germany :) And there she had this wonderful vintage photo Halloween 1969 of hers- with the woolen Braids – so cute. I used a Glimmer Screen on the background and sprayed with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Chalkboard over it. Then I brushed it with the Chandelier Glam here and there and sprayed again. The little textured and stamped areas are created with Heidis Texture Stamps– I soooo love those! I stamped tissue paper and glued it down with the Glam. For the tree I had used three of the beautiful new Fall colors – sprayed directly onto the Screen, then lift it, turned it and did a negative stamp on top of some paper. Then I stamped it with the haunted Tree from the beautiful Halloween Stamp set and cut the tree out.

*Syndrome*

For this layout I sprinkled some of the Bordeaux Glimmer Glam onto the background. For the title I used the second layer of the Framed Fonts and sprayed, then cut out the letters. The spider was stamped with Glimmer Glaze, then oversprayed with the spider screen and Chalkbaord. I used a marker later.

*Happy Halloween*

For this card I used mainly the new Glimmer Mist Fall colors . I also used the spider net on the Chip Tile. The cat was like the spider stamped with Glaze, then overstamped with Archival Ink, sprayed with Glimmer Mist and the eyes in green colored with Glimmer Glaze.

Wishing you fun creating scary Halloween projects! :)

Layout: Street Art *Info Crea*

Just a quick layout with only one little glimmery accent on the one cloud :)

I wrote the title with a small brush and Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze on top of the Chipboard cloud, then sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist on top and added some glimmery oomph with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam. I used a black marker and  white Signo pen to highlight the title.

Wishing you an inspiring day :)
