Flower Power – Needle Felting

A wonderful tuesday morning! Let me get back to my Letter to my Younger Self layout wiht was inspired by the feb. issue of oprah.

The flowers on this layouts are needle felted. I learned this technique from a Scrapbook Society Kit. I love this technique. Here is a short tutorial.

Was braucht man dafürr? Filzwolle, Filzplatte, Filznadel und einen Schaumstoffblock – wichtig!!!

You need felt wool, a little pice of felt, a felting needle and a big cushy block – that one is really important!!!

NeedleFelting was man braucht

First of all you paint a shape on your felt piece – in this case I draw a flowershape.

Diese dann ausschneiden – then you cut it out.

Now you put the flower on the cushy block and you pick some of the felt wool and lay it on top. Now you take the needle and go through all those layers over and over again.

The felt needle has a little barbed hooks at the end and is to be treated with caution. You can hurt yourself and it is I ‘m sure pretty painful.

While you prick through with the needle the felt wool is getting knoted and interweaved with the felt piece.

You prick with the needle over and over again, until all the felt wool you picked interweaved with the felt piece – it takes a while and be careful to fall not in trance ;-)

“Etwas” später

a little bit later

If you want you can treat the flower with different wool colors on the edges or the flowercenter

And done this looks like this:

Although this is a lot of work – I think it is worth it to make your embellishments yourself. The possibilities are endless. I would love to see your results of needlefelting!

Euch allen einen grandiosen Tag!

Wishing you an awesome day!
