Guest Designer: Creative Therapy

I was really excited when I was asked to be a guestdesigner for Creative Therapy a couple months ago. I’m a big fan of the themes and designers of this blog. I chose the theme “a painful memory”. In my humble opinion Scrapbooking is also about feelings and memories – but in this case it was really difficult – I had a hard time with my layout -but it was also a bit freeing.

*The Last Time*

Journaling Reads:

My stepfather died in Italy – while I was in Venice – not too far away. We had talked on the phone and I told him that I would come and visit him in a couple weeks. When I came home my Mom called me – he had a stroke and fell off his bikes in the mountains. I was so sad – even after my parents got divorced I vistited him every month staying in my old room. After the funeral I went to our “Home”. I loved this old little house with the vine all over. It hurt so much to open the door knowing that I would never come back. He had my room prepared for my next visit – new bedsheets and my big teddy bear sitting n the bed. I cried the whole time saying good bye to him and my home. I miss you so much, Dad! 10 years later- still!!!

The overall look is pretty busy and cloudy – but is exactly reflecting my emotional feelings when I created this layout thinking about my memories. All blurred up – a clean and simple layout would have never fit for me.

Supplies: Danyeela Patterned Paper, Rose Mokka Papers, Prima Overlay, Prima Felt Fim Strip, Heidi Swapp Chipboard Letters, 7 Gypsies Tag, Grungeboard Key, Acrylic Paints, Crackle Accents, Punchinella.

Take a look at all the other layouts– they are very touching!

Another crazy Saturday

Es ist irgendwie komisch, nach einem so traurigen Posting eines zu schreiben, das alltäglich und fröhlich klingt…aber “Live today as there is no tomorrow” – Aleida Franklin.

It is kind of weird to post something every day life – and happy – after this sad posting…but “Live today as there is no tomorrow “-Aleida Franklin.

Yesterday my little god son had his first baseball game – he is only training for four weeks- but boy is he good!

-LOL)

Jim thinks this is all due to him because he practised playing Baseball with Luca since he was a toddler…(ähh – yes…! – LOL

We also learned that Rockers are NOT dead ! :-)

Ne – ne!!! Und knuffig sind sie auch!

No – no!!! And they are also quite cute!

Voll konzentriert!

Full concentration! (I’m pretty happy how I manged to focus out of the fence in front of my lens)

And so he sprinted always with one hand at his ear – eh – helmet- because that thing was waaaayyy to big.

Sandra – beim analysieren

Sandra analyzing the game.

And baseball fans will realize…LOL …it happened a lot ;)

The running gag of the game was, that the little pookies didn’t collect their baseball bat and so all spectators and trainers were shouting “the club, the club” – after each hit…which is getting lost in translation here – it is only funny in German ;-)

Afterwards we went to the Hamburg “Democrats Abroad Picnic” . It was really interesting and I got my own button :-) We got to know a lot of interesting and nice people – also Herb Geller- which was a special honor! Herb Geller also composed “Obama Bound” for the election.

After the picnic we went to the university campus and enjoyed our time at the Bazaar of the Nations  – it was really cool.

We will meet friends from Zurich soon and then our weekend will be over pretty quick. I wish you all a wonderful sunday.

A sparkling Diamond

Sometimes you meet those people- they sparkle because they are such a gem in our live. Even though I have never met her personally, Aleida grew very dear to my heart. I loved our email conversations and our work together at Scrapping the Music and It Takes All Kind.Today this diamond was taken away – but she is still sparkling in my heart.

I will miss you a lot, Aleida!

Taking the Risk – a Rothko Morning

“To us art is an adventure into an unknown world, which can be explored only by those willing to take the risks.” Mark Rothko

This morning Liz and I had been to the Mark Rothko Exhibition in the Kunsthalle in Hamburg. Really impressing! those photos are so deep – you get lost in them – and the colors are unreal!

It is wonderful that we have more to share than scrapbooking ;-)

And at last a photo from the preparations for the dragon boat race on the Lake Alster.

Ich wünsche Euch einen tollen Tag
