An original drypoint print, matted and signed by Nathalie Kalbach, edition: 1/10

“No2″ is an original drypoint print, capturing the streetscape surrounding the historic Dixon Mills pencil factory in Jersey City, NJ. The grouping of red brick buildings from the 1840s once employed many of the residents in the surrounding neighborhood and were a top producer of pencils in the world. When the company moved in the 1980s the buildings were converted to residences, where Nathalie now lives and creates. The memory of those involved in the day-to-day work in the same spaces Nathalie calls home, and the industry’s ties to Nathalie’s own artistic occupation are a constant source of inspiration for her.

This is a hand pulled print, inked in black and sepia ink, an homage to the fascinating history of the No. 2 pencil and Jersey City.

Piece measures 8″ x 10″ with plate image measuring 3 7/8″ x 5 5/8”
