Creative JumpStart 2020

Creative JumpStart is a one-of-a-kind community event to jumpstart your creativity in 2020. The Theme this year is “Super Power”.

We asked our crew of Mixed Media Artists and Crafters: what is your artistic Super Power? Is it a tool or technique that helps you achieve your unique style? Is it a way of thinking, organizing, or planning that leads up to a finished piece? Is it something else entirely? What Super Power do you use to create? Our artist teachers have created mixed media lessons that share this insight with YOU – so you can try these Super Powers yourself in your own artmaking.

There is no doubt about it: art can be beautiful, personal, and really fun to make. It can capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment, feeling, or idea. And artists can influence everything from the walls of a home to world events. If you think about it, creativity really is a Super Power! Whether you are creating simply for the joy it brings you or creating to share your ideas with others, that is a pretty awesome pursuit.

Join us for this 9th year of CJS and learn how different Mixed Media Artists and Crafters translate our theme into their own work, sharing with you their creative process, techniques, tips, tricks, and ideas on how to develop your own style.

You get 31 DOWNLOADABLE videos for $60 (USD). It’s a great value – at only $1.93 per video it’s a collection of tutorials that you can keep forever, over 5 hours of unique content!

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for the Mixed Media Hobby Artist who wants to jumpstart their creativity in a wide field of projects, techniques and mediums. It is suited for beginners to intermediate artists – with a couple projects for the advanced audience. From lots of Art Journaling and mixed media based ideas, from project-based videos to inspirational videos, to technique-based videos – there is something for everyone!

And to keep things even more exciting, we have a series of giveaways from our official CJS20 sponsors. These art and craft product companies are offering chances to win products and gift cards but you must enter by February 8, 2020.

What supplies will I need?

A short basic supply list will be provided in the Welcome Section after you signed in. No need to go on a shopping spree and buy a ton of stuff you might not use that often. Watch the videos first to decide if you can substitute some of the materials with something you already own. If not, then choose which items to buy.

If you have some of the following in hand, it would be helpful:

Sheets of watercolor paper, an Art Journal if you like to work within a book format, 6-8 colors of acrylic paints plus black and white, a basic set of watercolor paints, gel medium, gesso, a selection of brushes, a rubber brayer, various pens and pencils.
