Nur noch eine Woche bis Weihnachten! Tag 17: Welches Geschenk konnte nur von dem Beschenkten und mir besonders geschätzt werden? Also, ich denke so ein feiner Bassverstärker wird eher nur von Jim und mir besonders geschätzt, die Nachbarn frage ich lieber nicht ;-)

Der heutige Tag – 18 – “What’s for Dinner?”. Man sollte noch etwas mit einfügen, was zu dem Essen dazugehört – das werde ich nach dem Einkauf hierfür machen. Bei uns wird es traditionell nach dem Rezept meiner Mutti am 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag Hirsch-Gulasch geben.
Today – Day 18 – “What’s for Dinner?”. One should inclued something from this dinner (napkin, recipe etc) – I will do this when I bought the things for the dinner. We will traditionally have Venison Goulash after a recipe of my Mom on Christmas day.

Und dank dieser Aufgabe fällt mir auch wieder ein, daß es besser ist, sich mit den Lebensmitteln so langsam schon mal einzudecken – LOL!
And thanks to this task I got reminded that it is better to start stocking up food. In Germany we will have Saturday as the last day to buy food and then from Saturday evening till Wednsday morning no shops are open. We do have holiday till Tuesday! – So…on Saturday…it is CRAZY in the supermarkets and grocery stores!!!!

6. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: In Düsseldorf we had the “Christkind” bringing the presents. So in the beginning of December I wrote my wishlist and put it outside the window cause the Christkind would collect my wishlist. Wowie, it did collect it every year :-) LOL
7. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? In first grade – our teacher told us and I came home totally sad and told my Mom, what the teacher said. My Mom and all the other parents were really upset about this and they had a meeting regarding this issue.
8. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Well, usually it is a German Tradition to open the presents on Christmas Eve but since my DH is American we do both traditions. Couple presents Christmas Eve, a couple presents Christmas day.
9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Very few ornaments, but those are ones that are either special or selfmade. Some ribbon and a crochetet star on top.
10. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE it , because in Hamburg it always rains in wintertime and snow would be so much nicer!
11. Do you know how to ice skate? Yes, in our elementary school we had a schoolyear ice skating instead of sports.
12. Do you remember your favorite gift?That is a tough question. Mmmmh, I always loved reading, so my favorite gifts were new books. I did not need more.
13. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being together with family and friends and enjoying time together!
14. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Give me some Berliner Nußplätzchen (cookie recipe of my Grammy) and I’m happy

Hui, es nähert sich mit schnellen Schritten, das Weihnachtsfest – bereits Tag 15. Die Aufgabe heute lautet eine ganz simple Seite zu machen, wenig Zeit zu verwenden und über die Besucher zu schreiben. Nun, wer mich kennt, weiß, dass die heutige Seite SEHR simpel für mich ist. :-)
Wow, it is coming closer in big steps, christmas day – already day 15. The task today is to create a very simple page, spent only a couple minutes and write about the visitors. Well, if you know me you know that this page is REALLY simple for me. :-)

Ich verabschiede mich mit einem Spruch für heute: “Wer im Glashaus sitzt, sollte nicht mit Steinen werfen!”. Heute morgen klingelte der UPS Mann und überreichte mir ein schönes Päckchen. Hatte ich schon mal erwähnt, daß ich es liebe, Päckchen zu bekommen ? – LOL. In dem Päckchen befand sich die Januar/Februar Ausgabe des Simple Scrapbooks Magazin, in welchem mein Layout 2 Dads and 1 Bear veröffentlicht wurde, sowie mein Layout. Mein Bär ist schon vor einigen Wochen wieder nach Hause gereist. Ich freue mich so, es ist schon ein komisches Gefühl ein eigenes Layout zum ersten Mal gedruckt zu sehen.
This morning the UPS Man came and brought me a little package. Did I mention befrore that I love getting parcels? LOL. Inside was the January/February issue of Simple Scrapbooks Magazine which includes my layouts “2 Dads and 1 Bear”, as well as my layout itself. My bear traveled home a couple weeks ago. I’m really happy, it is a weird feeling to see ones own layout published for the first time.
Ich muß gleich erstmal in Ruhe alles lesen. I have to sit down and read everything again.
Nun aber zu Tag 13 des Weihnachtsjournals. Die Frage war, wie das Geschenke übergeben am Weihnachtstage denn so aussieht und die Aufgabe, möglichst einen Tag beizufügen.
Ok – day 13 of the christmas journal. The question was how the presents are passed on christmas day and the task was to add a tag.
Journaling reads: Passing Presents: Usuall all presents are placed under the tree and the family is gathered around. One after another picks a present – the kids comes first – reads the tag and hands it over. Everybody watches with excitement and Ohhhhs and Ahhhs. After the fifth present we decide it takes to much time and there we go all over :-)
Tag 14 – Dein Lieblingsweihnachtslied. Uiii – da muß ich mich outen. Wenn ich ganz ehrlich bin, könnte ich mich kringeln bei “Rudolph the Red-Nosed-Reindeer”. Ich liebe dieses Lied.
Day 14 – your favorite christmas song. uppps – I have to out myself. To be honest, I could crack up when I hear “Rudolph the Red-Nosed-Reeindeer”. I love that song.

Ich erhielt ein wunderschönes Paket von meinem Secret Santa! Was für ein Spaß all die Dinge, die allesamt genau mein Geschmack und mein Stil sind auszupacken. Am meisten habe ich mich über die Dose mit den handgemachten Weihnachts-Magneten, die wunderschöne Karte und den Schneeflocken Tag gefreut. Danke Lacey aka Kim – Du bist ein Schatz!

Gestern war also Tag 11 – Der Baum, also der Weihnachtsbaum. Hat man einen, wenn ja einen echten? Dekoriert man ihn mit viel KlimmBimm oder simpel?
Yesterday it was day 11 – the tree, the christmas tree. Do you have one, a real one? Decorating big way or simple way?
Ich habe einen meiner selbstgemachten Maya Road-Anhänger mit eingebunden.
I included one of my Maya Roads Christmas Ornaments.
Journaling reads: We had a christmas tree – a real one – for the frist time last year. I love the smell of the tree. I love the tree decorated a tine bit – not overloaded. I wanna see the green. I love selfmade ornaments – here is one I made this year :-)

Tag 12 – Was hat sich an Weihnachten verändert? Und eine Aufgabe, benutze etwas, was Du noch nie benutzt hast beim Scrapbooking. Ich habe Kaltwachs benutzt und Sterne auf Cardstock gemalt. Nachdem diese getrocknet waren, habe ich mit Acrylfarbe darüber gemalt und nachdem diese wiederum getrocknet war, die Farbe auf dem Wachs mit einem feuchten Q-Tip abgewischt. Gibt eine schöne Textur, was man leider auf dem Foto nicht so gut sieht.
Day 12 – what changed about christmas? And a task to use something you never used for scrapping. I used cold wax and painted stars on the Cardstock. After the stars dried I painted with acrylic paint over the whole surface and after that dried, I used a wet cotton swab and removed the color on the wax. It gives a nice texture that doesn’t show to well on the photo.
Journaling: Day # 12 – What cahnges about christmas? Good question. For me personally I enjoy christmas more. I learned that christmas doesn’t equal stress. Other than that I wonder why christmas has to start in October and how crazy people are with all the gifts and decorations. But everyone the way he or she likes it, right? I like it calm and short :-)
