Want a little sneak of the new kit…I love it already- so can’t wait playing with it :)
Want a little sneak of the new kit…I love it already- so can’t wait playing with it :)
It is hard to believe- six years ago on June 3rd, 2006, I started blogging about my hobby and then it turned into my profession…
Besides that I love writing – in my limited english way – what do I know?- like 400 words or so, LOL – I enjoy doing this because I love with how many people all over the world I connected through blogging!
In other ways: YOU! are the reason why I love writing my blog and do so continuously. Your comments make my day, the conversations with YOU! inspire me and I love to get to know YOU! wherever YOU! are !
My Blogaversary is actually a celebration of YOU! Thank you for reading, thank you for coming by, thank you for subscribing and thank you for commenting or emailing me sometimes!
To celebrate YOU! I have two give aways!
I give away two class seats in my Über*Media Gesso Class!
The 1st seat: I picked the receiver already! Don’t call this unfair…I actually checked on my blog stats who in all this years commented the most on my blog and I think this person deserves my thank you and first give away :)
SUE CLARKE! Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, you make me very happy and I love to read your comments and I so hope one day I will see you in person over the pond and get to hug you and thank you in person. :) Please email me and I send you the access to the class!
And the 2nd ?
Let me know which topics on the n*Studio Blog YOU! would like me to write about.
If you also subscribe to my blog in a reader or via email (sidebar) you double your chances – let me know and I will put your name into the drawing two times :) You have time till June 7th, 2012 midnight CET. I will have a winner for the gesso class randomly picked. ( If you already took the Gesso class as a student let me know and we can work out a different class ;))
Again- Thank YOU! and have an amazing day
Hugs
Nat
Oops! Forgot to mention that I subscribe to your blog via email! Definitely want my name to be entered twice for your lovely giveaway! I really don’t like gesso (trying not to be judgmental!) and I know it is because I do not know how to use it, so I KNOW I would greatly benefit from your class! Thanks again for the chance!
congratulations! I am fairly new to your blog and enjoy it immensely. I subscribe through RSS so I don’t miss anything. Choosing your most dedicated reader is a great idea!
I would like to learn more about colour.
Congratulations Nathalie!! I love your heart!!!
Since Creative Jump Start, I have visited your blog every afternoon. Thanks for all of your instruction and inspiration! I would love to win a spot in your class. I would like to learn more about Gel Medium and Gesso etc..
Congratulations Nathalie…. I just recently discovered your blog (you had a fast forward post on Julies blog) and I’ve been by almost daily ever since :-) Right now I’m taking your acrylic class and I’m having so much fun learning all theese new tecniques and incoorporating them in my paintings. learning new stuff and putting your own spin at it is GREAT :-) If I had to choose a topic other than the ones you’re allready doing it would be composition. Looking forward to coming back….
oops… didn’t think my comment had been posted. sorry for the duplicate :-)
Congratulations Nathalie. I’m a fairly new reader of your blog, but have been coming steady since I discovered you (since you had a fast forward-post on Julies blog :-) ) I’m know taking your acrylic class and I’m enjoing it so much and have been incoorporating different techniques in my paintings. always great to learn new stuff and put you own spin at it. If i had to choose a topic other than the things you’re allready doing, it could be composition…. I would love to hear your words on that :-)
thank you for the opporunity to win a spot on the gesso-class. (also a medium a just discovered recently….)
Hi Natalie,
I only recently dicovered your blog – Julie Fei-Balzer pointed me to you some weeks ago and I immediately subscribed to it. What I really loved so far was your discourse on colors. This leads me to the interesting question if you could also give some informal lessons on the integral parts of design – line, space, contrast etc. This is a topic which always seems to be thought of as “has to be known”, however, having no artistic education whatever it often leaves me confused.
Oh, and by the way: Congratulation to your anniversary and thank you very much for that giveaway. Would love to win it.
Angelika
Wow, du altes Eisen! ;-) So lang bist du schon dabei und so lang les ich schon deinen Blog! Wahnsinn!

Congrates. That shows dedication on your part. I love your blog.
Congrats on 6 years natalie. I love all the posts i have read this year. I might have to go back and check out vintage stuff.
Congratulations to Sue! How sweet, Nathalie, to recognize her so! And congratulations to you with your 6 year blogoversary!
As to topics? Hmmm…I’d love to learn more from you about texture, gesso, acrylic paints … ok, anything! (lol)
SIX years is a long time to be giving out free information to the crafty world.
I am so pleased that you are able to make it your career!
One day we will meet and I can not tell you how honored I am that you have picked me to receive the free class Nat!
{BIG HUGS}…your biggest fan:-)
COngrats on 6 years! I’ve been subscribed for a quite a while through google reader. I’m one of those ones who lurks a lot but forgets to comment. I enjoy your tips & tricks kind of posts, but I have to say… my favorite type are the ones when you show something you weren’t satisfied with and then change it to make it something you love. Thanks for all the great posts!
How fabulous, Nat! Congrats on six years of this… bet you had no idea with that first post where you would be, how much in your life would change, and how influential you would be to so many artists and would-be-artists around the world. I am delighted to have met you in person as well as connecting this way on a regular basis! As someone who has taken your class in person as well as online I think my suggestion would be… any thing YOU want to teach, girlfriend!
Ni Nat, Happy Blog-aversary! I only discovered your blog a few months ago but I now eagerly await the Email with a new post. I have learned so much from your tutorials and find your post amusing and inspirational. Heres to the next 6 years and more. I must say your English is a million times better than my German! Keep up the good work.
Natalie!
I ALWAYS read your blog and often get a big chuckle from them. You have such a nice sense of humor! I’ve especially enjoyed the “color” stories this past week or so. It was good to get a little theory mixed in with your usual comments (not that I don’t like your usual comments ha ha).
I wish I could take one of your classes in person but unless you come to the east coast of the United States, that might be difficult. Keep up the good work with your blog!
Congratulations Nathalie,
We love reading your post, they are always very inspirational. Thank you for sharing so much…
I have been loving your posts! The color tutorials have been awesome!!
well…at least with the Cocoa Daisy “Sprout” April Kit – because seriously- with that weather here right now…nothing sprouts….LOL.
Grocery Shopping
Maybe I am the only person that loves grocery shopping? LOL- sometimes when I talk to my friends they say how much they dread it- I so love grocery shopping. But maybe it is also a bit different when you live in a city and you can just walk and grab everyday a couple of things at stores and the market and cook it then for the dinner.
I added some faux stitching around the MME paper designed by Rhonna Farrer- so love this paper.
Memory Lane
This photo was taken in January on the Route 66 (no kidding huh…it is pretty clearly visible on the photo, Nat ;) ). This is an old motel with an old gas station and the owner bought it in 2000 and all of the interior and stuff was still original from the 50s- soooo cool! Roy’s Cafe- if you are ever close to Amboy- check it out.
I stamped with the Cocoa Daisy Tab Stap on paper and cut it out and then applied some brads and mounted it on 3D Foam Stamps. I also used some Denim Glimmer Mist and Gesso stamped with a paper role and added some colors here and there with the Derwent Artbars. Love how they apply to photos!
Follow Your Heart
It was so beautiful in Death Valley and what a view….especially the guy in the foreground ;)
I painted some of the honeycomb paper with Maya Mist and a brush – love the vibrancy of those colors.
Also sprayed the wooden Maya Road Bird with Maya Mist and then cut out the Manufacturer strip for the bird a I liked that banner so much. The Maya Road Bottle Cap was dunked into blue Utee and melted …yum yum yum – what an awesome texture and color…me thinks I need more of this colored Utee ;)
Have you planted anything yet? I might at least get some flowers hoping for planting and sprouting time :)
Have a gorgeous day
Nat
I picked up my Cocoa Daisy April Kit and I have such a fun time working with it- it is such an awesome spring kit…just the opposite of what I’m seeing through my window out there (it is freezing here) .
Let me first tell you about the upcoming crop at the end of the month (April 27-29,2012) – weehee –
Pack your picnic basket (or crop bag) with lots of yummy eats (or scrappy supplies) get out that old comfy blanket (or jammies), and bone up on your heckling skills (hey, it’s BINGO), and don’t forget your sunscreen. You are cordially invited to join us at the park for our Spring Crop, Picnics in the Park, April 27-29th. Everything is set, now we just need you!
But first let’s talk about the April kit :)
Cocoa Daisy is happy to bring you papers in the colors of spring from Basic Grey, Echo Park, My Mind’s Eye, and Crate. They have added embellishments from Maya Road, Prima, Queen & Co., and a pack of exclusive-to-Cocoa Daisy flair from shopEvalicious.com sporting a spring theme. Sprout shouts spring even louder with our exclusive stamp this month, a 5″ stem and leaf.
And the add ons:
Bloom
Polka Dot Wellies
April Embellishment Pack
Make sure to check out the what the Design Team did with this months kit! The International Design Team Reveal comes in a couple days, heading back to the studio to work on it …. :)

It took me a couple months, to make a decision and it wasn’t an easy one…I think mostly because I was struggling that I don’t want to hurt anyone, but it had to be done…I put myself and my privacy pretty much out here already, right? I share thoughts and feelings, I share photos and stories…But there is a little area that I need to keep just to myself, my closest friends and family and…to Facebook (cause actually I probably trust you all more than facebook ;) ) – LOL. So here is what I wrote :
Dear Facebook Friends- after much of consideration and some talks to dear and close friends today, I decided that I will now finally close my private page to the “public” and have it only open to family and close -mostly non -industry related – friends.
The only way to do so is to delete friends and ask you, if you want to still know my business related and of course also private things I share – to move over to my page Nathalie Kalbach n*Studiohttps://www.facebook.com/NathaliesStudio . I am sure you understand that it is a bit hard to balance private private, private and business. Your support is much appreciated. If you are ready to go, let me know :) At the end of the month I will just delete…and it will be not easy. Thank you for being so understanding! Huge hugs – Nat
My friend Ronda Palazzari has written a book and I have to say I am totally excited about this.
Not only do I love Ronda’s personality, I am also a huge fan of her work and I just know that her book is going to rock! I so can’t wait to hold it in my little paws.
So welcome to the Art of Layers Blog Hop!
Here is the description of the book:
“Basic scrapbooking has you place photos and embellishments on cardstock or patterned paper – easy and…well, basic. The next step for most scrapbookers is layering. But trying to get that rich, interesting layered look can be very intimidating. Where do you even start? “Art of Layers” teaches scrapbookers and beginning mixed media artists just how easy it is to get to that layered look in any papercrafting project. Author Ronda Palazzari teaches readers 50+ techniques that will serve as tools to pull out whenever a layered look is desired. The chapters allow the reader to build their skills, from paper techniques they won’t be afraid to try adding fabric, embellishments, and stamping to finally giving spray inks, paints and gesso a try.”
I have a sneak peek at a chapter for you. This piece is from the Messy chapter – so fitting that Ronda would send me that- LOL- don’t you think? I love messy and I can’t wait to see more.
If you want to have the chance to get an autographed copy of Ronda’s book (only one book per household!) – simply leave a comment on this post till Sunday Night 8 pm EDT (7 Central, 6 Mountain, 5 Pacific, midnight European Central time) and hop on over to the next person in line for this blog hop and that is Kelly Purkey for another chance to win :)
Have fun and good luck :)
Nat
