Photos of my Workshops in Florida

I had a wonderful time teaching at Everything Scrapbook & Stamps in Lake Worth in Florida last weekend.  Michelle was a wonderful host and the store is awesome.

First up I taught YAWP my PanPastel ArtJournal class.

ESS01

The students were such a fun and talented group of ladies.

ESS02 ESS03 ESS04 ESS05 ESS06 ESS07

Next up was the Season Canvas Class- which is my absolute fave class :)

ESS08

It is the coolest to see how everyone gets over the hump to try something new and then get’s excited and makes something totally of their own.

ESS09  ESS11 ESS12

I loved that I had so much space and a half round table in the class room – it made demoing so easy.

As you can see I “stole” The photo from Cheryl Boglioli who was there two which was such an awesome surprise!

I also taught Be Awesome be a BookNut- but I don’t have any pictures of this- bummer. It was a great class! But oh well- instead some Portrait of a Lady Class.

ESS13 ESS14 ESS15

I had such a great time with all of the students and the staff and Michelle. We laughed so much. Thank you so much for having me- and I hope you have me back some time :)

Huge hugs

Nat’s classes are so awesome. If you ever have the opportunity to take a class from my favourite little German lady, do not hesitate!! Not only will you learn so much and have a blast but you will be blissfully covered in whatever medium you are working with in class. Believe me, nurses are not fond of being messy but I loved every second of the classes I took in Toronto!!!

I had a wonderful time at your “Portrait of a Lady” and “Be a Booknut” classes. What a treat to see my photo at the end of this blogpost!!! I’m still building up my background of my portrait and I am so happy with how it’s turning out. I’ve got a whole bunch of 5×7 canvas boards that I’m collaging up with all the “uber” textural techniques I learned. Look forward to you coming stateside to teach again :)

Back in the Cove – Photos from Workshops in NJ

Last weekend I taught at Scrappers Cove in New Jersey, which was a lot of fun. I love this little store with lot’s of yummie products not too far away from my in-laws and it is always fun to come back to these awesome ladies

The classroom was sold out with 12 students in each class and we had a blast. It is always amazing to see students again – I just love it or finally being able to put a face to someone I have before only “met” online :)

First up was the YAWP PanPastel Artjournal class and they had lot’s of fun playing with PanPastels

The next class was the Portrait of a Lady class playing with Derwent Artbars and as always I loved seeing the different results, some are sticking to reality and some are going abstract .

Here is a portrait that a young über*talented lady in my class did of her grandma – Love it!

And here is a Portrait of two Superheroes :)

Thank you to all my students and Scrappers Cove for a wonderful inspirational and fun day! Hope I will see you soon again ;)

Huge hugs

Nat

Bizzy Bs at Bizzy B’s

Coming back to Bizzy B’s in Toronto Canada after only four months was so much fun. It was like I have seen my students yesterday and it made it so special, plus Barb and Tony are amazing hosts and store owners and they are just making it so easy to teach!

The first class was the Be Awesome! Be a Book Nut Altered Book Class

It was fun seeing all those different books and takes of the students. They were such a fun and wonderful group and it was amazing seeing so many again and getting to know some finally. Like Marg who came all the way from Newfoundland and was such a sweetie!

Next up was the Season Canvas Class

On Sunday I taught the Über*Media Acrylic Paint ArtJournal Class, which was a five-hour class. We had lot’s of fun and it was super messy colorful :)

Thank you to all my students who came to my workshops – I hope I will see some of you soon again ;) And thank you to Barb and Tony from Bizzy B’s for having me again!

Just look at all that awesome art laundry hanging out to dry.
I am curious about the way those pages are folded in the altered book.

Now is ze time on Sprockets vhen ve dance or Only one more week

till I fly out for my workshops in Toronto at Bizzy B’s , in New Jersey at Scrappers Cove and  Florida at Everything Scrapbook & Stamps . Wohhooooo

I am dancing around like Dieter on Sprockets getting all kits and tools and supplies organized and I am having lists a go-go.

The apartment looks like a warehouse although I am not sure if there is usually curious, plastic foil crazy cats in warehouses .

I have been offered the helpful hands by my sweet sweet 12 year old godson Luca already, but I honestly have a little control issue, too scared the kits wouldn’t be packed the right way and I don’t want to blame anyone else but my husband -self for it (he helps a lot when he can and it is a joke now that when something is wrong in a kit he gets the blame ;) ) .

Kitting time also a good time to listen to good music and podcasts. Which explains that I dance around like Dieter. If you are not familiar with Dieter on Sprockets – it was on Saturday Night Life Show in the late 80s and early 90s in the States and  “parodied German stereotypes, especially those pertaining to German seriousness, efficiency, and precision” (Wikipedia). Here is a little excerpt:

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHZR9SA5pOg]

Why I do know this show? Well…early on in our multi-national partnership (my husband is American),  my husband and I shared shows and jokes about fun stereotypes of the Germans and Americans in our countries and they kind of got their own insider-joke-existence in our relationship. My husband really thinks we Germans danced like this in the 80s though. Aha….really? ;) It is good to be able to make fun of each other without hurting each other – I love it and btw – I get him back if one of those kits is not packed right….I will blame it all on him ;)

Until next time – Auf Wiedersehen

Nat

I loved that SNL sketch! I am an American married to a Belgian who is half Austrian and definitely has the German cleaning/efficiency/practicality thing going. I love it and love to tease him about it. We Americans are definitely lacking in this area but make up for it in other ways, sometimes.

Dr. Seuss knew it: there is something magic about books. Each book is a beauty in and of itself – a story that leads you into a new world of fantasy. Books also have a feeling of importance to them, such as with a fabric coated hard cover or just the paper itself.

But sometimes a book loses its fascination and ends up at a flea market or at the back of your bookshelf never be opened again. Why not breathe life back into those books again and fill them with your own stories? You can alter them in a way that these treasures bring unique joy back.

Nathalie Kalbach will show you how to create either a funky or a simple style altered book. You will learn beautiful folding techniques, such as ways to create pockets for treasures or hidden messages that go along with your story. You will learn how to use adhesive in unexpected  ways and learn fun embossing techniques. La Dolce Vita Part II: Workshop Photos Rome

So much fun!!! That would be the best way to describe the awesome time I had with Barbara from TimbroScrapMania and our wonderful students.

Allora, Ragazze – Attenzione! (probably the sentence I said the most that weekend! snigger ;) )

Such a wonderful and talented group of girls.

I taught four workshops – here some pictures from Portrait of a Lady focusing on Derwent Artbars – it was stunning what these girls created!

Aren’t those Ladies stunning? I wish I had photos of all the creations!

The next workshop was Tag You Are It – focusing on the use of PanPastels

And here as well as in the first class the students picked their favorite colors and created different layouts in the end with their favorite technique tags

Sunday I taught the Prima Workshop Chalk on The Wild Side focusing on Prima Fluid Chalk and PanPastel Techniques and  The Raw Me – both minialbum workshops.

The girls were so funny and I loved their Italian chatting – and they were so wonderful!!! Thank you so much for Barbara for all the amazing translation work!

and also to Janet who helped me a lot too :) (I owe you an email- It will come soon!!!)

Oh and let’s not forget the yummie yummie food that Barbara’s Mom cooked for all of us – nom nom pasta and nom nom cakes ….imagine me rubbing my belly while I’m writing this ;)

amazing how all the same materials in a kit can make such unique and different projects- it always makes me totally giddy seeing what my students create!

And I love this title :) So true!

Thank you Barbara for inviting me – I hope I will come back soon ;)

Allora…tomorrow a couple more photos of Rome ….

hugs

Nat
