Studio DaphNat ist eine Arbeitsgemeinschaft bestehend aus mir und Daphne und wir werden dann und wann eine “neue” Technik mit detailierten Anleitungen und Photos posten …wenn Du also interessiert bist, ein paar coole Techniken zu lernen, die man beim Scrapbooking, Kartenmachen (oder was auch immer es ist, was man mit Papier, Farbe, Stempeln, Kleber und Scheren machen kann), verwenden kann, dann schau ab und zu auf unseren Webseiten rein!

Layout: It’s My Year – Scrap Club Challenge
Das nachfolgende Layout entstand für eine Challenge eines Kit Clubs in den Niederlanden – Scrap Club. Die Herausforderung war ein Layout über die Guten Vorsätze für das Neue Jahr zu machen und dabei Platz für das nächste Jahr zu lassen. Die Lücken sind dafür da, sodann aufzuschreiben, ob man mit seinen Vorsätzen erfolgreich war oder nicht.
I did this layout for a challenge of a Kit Club in The Netherlands – Scrap Club. The challenge is to make a New Year’s Resolutions Page leaving some space for next year. The space is so you can write down if you were successful or not!

Journaling on Narrative Sticker:So many reasons…because I had a really bad year 2006 and I’m usually a very optimistic and happy trooper. I wanna gain my happiness back!!!

HOW CHRISTMASSY ARE YOU?
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Egg Nog
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? They are wrapped and under the tree
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White lights!!!!
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Sometimes ;-) Good Idea – I should get one this year again.
5. When do you put your decorations up? We start early in December and add every now and then a little bit till christmas.
6. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: In Düsseldorf we had the “Christkind” bringing the presents. So in the beginning of December I wrote my wishlist and put it outside the window cause the Christkind would collect my wishlist. Wowie, it did collect it every year :-) LOL
7. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? In first grade – our teacher told us and I came home totally sad and told my Mom, what the teacher said. My Mom and all the other parents were really upset about this and they had a meeting regarding this issue.
8. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Well, usually it is a German Tradition to open the presents on Christmas Eve but since my DH is American we do both traditions. Couple presents Christmas Eve, a couple presents Christmas day.
9. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Very few ornaments, but those are ones that are either special or selfmade. Some ribbon and a crochetet star on top.
10. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE it , because in Hamburg it always rains in wintertime and snow would be so much nicer!
11. Do you know how to ice skate? Yes, in our elementary school we had a schoolyear ice skating instead of sports.
12. Do you remember your favorite gift?That is a tough question. Mmmmh, I always loved reading, so my favorite gifts were new books. I did not need more.
13. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being together with family and friends and enjoying time together!
14. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Give me some Berliner Nußplätzchen (cookie recipe of my Grammy) and I’m happy
15. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Christmas day breakfast with family.
16. What tops your tree?a crochetet star
17. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? Giving – especially when children are involved. I just love how excited they are and how their eyes glow then they get what they wished for or when they are totally excited.

Retrospective Challenge: #5 Spending the summer in…
Diese Challenge soll davon handeln, wo Ihr meistens in Eurer Kindheit die Ferien verbracht habt. Vielleicht ein Campingplatz, ein Ort an der See, zuhause, bei den Großeltern – wo ward Ihr, was habt Ihr gemacht, woran erinnert Ihr Euch?
This challenge is about the vacations you took during your childhood. Maybe a campground, some place at the sea (for my NJ friends “down the shore” LOL), at home, with your grandparents – where have you been, what did you do, what do you remember?
Journaling: From when I was born until I was 12 I spent my entire summers in Italy. Starting in first grade I flew alone. My mother brought me to the airport and I was picked up by my own stewardess. I had a little plastic sign around my neck with all my details in case I would go lost. I would always get the coolest comics and ice cream on board and the adventure began. I would most of the times fly to Milano and get picked up by Zia Antonietta or in my words Tante Zianietta and Zio Julio. I would spent my whole time there playing with my cousins Isa, Alessandro and the neighbor kids. I spent my time reading, catching geckos, eating fruits in the garden, swimming in the lake, and driving on the motorbike with Sandro to his ever changing girlfriends. I loved my summers in Italy – such happy memories!

The Story of…The Me Book and Tagged
Eines meiner diversen Mitbringsel aus den USA war das The Me Book. 
Als ich nach hause kam und die Post sichtete, fand sich diese wunderschöne Überraschung an:

Ich habe mich riesig gefreut, wie Ihr Euch vorstellen könnt! Was mache ich nun aber mit dem unsignierten, niegel-nagel-neuen Buch? Ich dachte mir vielleicht möchte es mir jemand abkaufen und weil ich mich so über Elsie’s Geschenk gefreut habe, würde ich dies zum Preis von 10 EUR tun – die Versandkosten innerhalb Deutschlands übernehme ich. Sollte es mehrere Interessenten geben, verkaufe ich, inspiriert durch das nachfolgende Thema, an diejenige, die das Merkwürdigste über sich selbst in ihrem Kommentar verrät ;-) – Bis Montag bleibt dies hier offen!

Ich wurde von D@nielle getagged. Da sie aus den Niederlanden kommt – werde ich die fünf Merkwürdigkeiten auf Englisch beantworten ok?
You wanted to know five weird things about me – here they are:
- I rate beer – I have rated over 2300 beers and have the unofficial title of the woman who rated the most beers in the world. Just to let you know, I have not drunk all those beers entirely – they were shared or provided in small sample glasses!
- I’m totally afraid of spiders, in fact – I freak out when I see them or…sometimes just stand in front of them paralyzed.
- I can’t sleep if I haven’t read in a book for at least half an hour.
- I can’t stand the smell of airplane food anymore. It is a certain kind of smell when you open the container and it makes me instantly sick. Quite bad if you fly as much as we do.
- I love scrapping while listening to loud cranked up Independence or Punk Music, it keeps my Mojo flowing.

Laufe auch etwas grünlich an hier…. Interesse am unsignierten Buch hätte ich natürlich auch. Und etwas merkwürdiges über mich? Oje…. ich finde mich eigentlich ganz normal (grins) aber so die Highlights über die Jahre wären vielleicht 1) ich wollte schon mit 12 Jahren auswandern, 2) ich bin “closet” Tom Jones Fan, 3) kommt nicht ganz an Danis Grufti Zeit heran, aber ich hatte eine recht lange Heavy Metal Phase etwa von 20-27…. einschliesslich des ganz in Leder gekleideten, langhaarigen, Bassist einer Heavy Metal Band, Freundes, und 4) wenn sein muss, kann ich auch Sari tragen. Ist alles vielleicht nicht merkwürdig an sich, aber doch eine etwas schräge Mischung.

mein neid zu dem signierten buch ist dir sicher – aber trotzdem hätte ich riesiges interesse an dem unsignierten :) also wollen wir mal sehen… das merkwürdigste über mich selbst… hmjmjm… lass mich überlegen… also das freakigste aus meinem lebenslauf ist meine ganz duuuunkle seite (heute vertuscht und mit rosa übergepinselt), die ich einige jahre (age 16-19) als gruftie ausgelebt habe – mit allem was dazu gehört, incl. komplett schwarz gestrichenem zimmer – zur großen freude meiner eltern. genau diese haben leider zu einem sarg als bett NEIN gesagt, aber ich hätte wirklich zu gerne einen gehabt! weird enough? ;)

Spotlight On…A Designer’s Eye
Zunächst einmal beantworte ich die Frage nach der Bezugsquelle für das gestern vorgestellte Magazin Scrapbook Answers – ich habe es direkt auf der Seite abonniert. Hat prima geklappt.
Heute also A Designer’s Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper von Ali Edwards.

Das Buch gliedert sich in sechs Kapitel, von denen die ersten fünf jeweils unterschiedliche Papiermuster behandeln: Kreise, Blumen, Streifen, Text und Geometrische Formen. Das letzte Kapitel beinhaltet sodann Anregungen und Challenges.
Inhalt
Ali Edwards zeigt gemeinsam mit den anderen Designern, wie man Papiere unterschiedlicher Hersteller durch einfache Tricks oder das Einhalten besonderer Regeln miteinander kombinieren kann. Ein, wie ich finde, guter Ansatz, denn bislang ist es mir schwergefallen, unterschiedliche Papierlinien/-hersteller miteinander zu verscrappen.
Für jedes Layout im Buch wird ein Sketch abgebildet, die Einzelheiten des wie und warum ein Layout mit verschiedenen gemusterten Papieren funktioniert, werden erläutert.
Die Anregungen und Challenges im letzten Kapitel gefallen mir gut – die Ideen regen an das “Papiermixen” auszuprobieren.
Für mich ein gutes – wenn auch nicht überragendes Buch – man lernt was – und das ist ja immer gut. Wer noch andere Rezensionen lesen möchte, dem empfehle ich die Blogs meiner wunderbaren MitScrapper Jeani und Daniela. Diese Blogs sind im übrigen auch in vielerlei anderer Hinsicht mehr als empfehlenswert!
