DTWork: Creating fun dimensional embellishments – SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L™

One of the big hits right now are all the new wonderful Die Cuts that you can use for all sorts of projects. I for example love the new Alterations by Tim Holtz – some of them are so detailed and fun and they give so much possibilities.

I do what so ever love to add dimensions to my projects and so I had to come up with an easy way on how to add dimension to my die cut embellishments.

Of course you can always use our Adhesive Sheets if you want to use Die Cuts-but did you know that you can use them also on other materials then paper? Foam for example …and foam is awesome to add dimension. Watch my video to see how :

Link is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxpNZBsUgqk

I hope you enjoyed the video and will try out all the fun ways you can use your Adhesives Sheets with.

Tattered Angels: Layered Texture Stamping

There is so much you can do with the new Glimmer Glam and Glimmer Glaze- it is really fun to try it out. One of my new fun techniques I like to do is what I call “Layered Texture Stamping”. I love texture on my embellishments and layouts and the new Tattered Angels Media give you an amazing possibility to add a tactile extra oomph to your pages and projects.

For Fall Card I used the fun Halloween Hauntings Glimmer Screens and the Halloween Hunting Stamps.

I used the Haunted Tree Screen and sprayed it with three different colors of the yummie Glimmer Mist Fall Edition.

Sugar Maple, Pomegrenate and Dragonfly- ohhh yummie colors :)

Then you carefully lift the Stencil and put it upside down on a piece of paper/Cardstock

You can over the whole screen with a paper towel and roll over it so the Glimmer Mist sets into the paper. Then lift the screen.

You can see that I wasn’t really covering the whole screen- so there are some spaces that are not nicely transfered- but…with the layering we can fix this :) No need to throw this away. Use the Glimmer Glaze Color of your choice and put it with the little attached Brush right onto your Stamp. Don’t forget to clean you stamp real quick as the dried Glimmer Glaze will otherwise hurt your stamp. Then stamp on top of the misted tree.

Next I love to stamp with Versamark and emboss with clear embossing powder.

You can see the wonderful texture that is created already – the tree trunk actually has the texture of a real one

Now I put the tree stamp on again – but a bit off the already created shape and sprayed with Apple Glimmer Mist – also Fall Edition – over the crown of the tree.

I love how the Glaze and embossed areas resist the Glimmer Mist and give the tree even more dimension and depth. Next I wanted to mimic the Changing of the colors during Fall inspired by the wonderful Leaf Peaking Roadtrip I once did in New England in Fall. So I used some of the Glimmer Glam and stippled with two different colors with a fan brush into the crown.

I then also used another color of Glaze and went over some parts of the tree again. (I never know when to stop- LOL)

Then I cut the image out and mounted it on a tag for a card for someone.

I did something similiar with another card and image for Halloween- the cat – you will see the card in my design team post on the DesignTeam Blog at the end of the month :)

You can learn this and other techniques using Tattered Angels Products in on of my upcoming workshops for example

Tattered Angels: Glimmer Screen Emboss Resist Technique

When I heard our theme is going to be Resist Tchniques this month on the Educator blog I put my thinking cap on and one morning I woke up with an idea and it worked great :) Here is the out come and the tutorial on how to do it :)

You simply sew around the canvas fabric, then add it to your cardstock, layer the Framed Font Compact and Frame and add journaling – and there you go – a fun – textured – wallpaper like looking – Card or background.

If you want to learn more fun techniques using Tattered Angels come and visit my upcoming Tattered Angels workshops or book them for your store. Here is a place where I teach some of those and other fun Tattered Angels techniques right now:

Cuchy: It makes a little mark – but not really mention wise – and as you water it with the glimmer mist- it almost vanishes. So there is only a small imprint- that adds with the embossing powder to a nice texture and depth.

Love it! Funny technique. As you pass the screen through the embossing machine, it dry-embosses also the cardstock? or the screen is too thin to leave a mark?

Deutsche Beschreibung (English version above)

  • Anke Humpert

CraftEdu – Online Craft University Faculty Member

Some of you heard the news already- I’m a Faculty member of CraftEdu now.  CraftEdu is an Online University offering a wide range of craft online classes in all fields of craft. The platform of CraftEdu makes it possible to include self generated video, text, still images, narration and even annotation into the workshop giving you the real sense of a class. On top of that students can join the CraftEdu Community where you can meet other students and join each of the Instructors Classrooms to talk about everything and the classes itself. There you can ask questions about the workshops and share you workshop-outcomes.

My bio is not up yet- just my gallery can be watched- and it gives you an idea of how the workshops (think also videos etc.) will work.

I have set up my classroom at the CraftEdu Community – and everybody – whether you join my class or not – can come by and chat with me :) I would love to have you there! In this Classroom I will later on also add different topics that are going to be classrelated – even in German.

My first Online Workshop will go life on Monday  – and can be purchased also with a special prize for the next 24 hours before turning into the normal prize. More later :)
