Catherine Scanlon

About Catherine:

When people ask me what my favorite color is, I say all of them. I mean really, who can choose! As a mixed media artist and illustrator, I like to say I am willing to take chances to create unique and colorful designs. My favorite techniques include mixed media collage, drawing, pen and ink illustrating, painting and graphic design; to name a few — and my favorite subject matters are flowers and things found in nature.

The process of combining fine art with paper crafts and vintage photographs and ephemera really resonates with me. I find that I love the results of mixing various techniques and mediums together to create unique and beautiful creations, using both traditional and digital mediums that make people happy and inspired when they see them.

Up until late 2017, I worked exclusively in the crafting industry. My mixed media creations made their way to the biggest craft stores, including A.C. Moore, Michael’s and Joann Fabrics to inspire crafters ways to use certain products. Today, I focus my creative time on new stamp and coloring book pages, my job as a graphic designer — and turning my illustrations and paintings into calendars and greeting cards.
