Tattered Angels: The Power of Colors

Fall is in full force here and although I’m a total summer girl- I have always also loved Fall. Things are calming down and …although especially in rainy Hamburg…I get the blues some days in Fall, I absolutely love the colors that nature has to offer at this time around!

I love to reflect my feelings above about fall in the colors of my layout “Simple Beautiful Fall”:

For the blue feeling that goes along with fall I chose the wonderful Chalkboard Colors Cornflower and Concord. I had spread some white acrylic paint over the Garden Lattice Screen and then sprayed the Chalkbaords right over it into the still wet acrylic paint. For the beautiful Simple Sayings Title from Heidi Swapps Collection and the wonderful frame that I cut out of the new paper Misting Magic, I used the Glimmer Mist Fall Color Sugar Maple and the Winter Color Jingle Bells. I used the same Colors also for the Framed Fonts.

Colors are such a wonderful way to express feelings and emotions- it is one of my favorite design tools- try it :)

If you want to visit one of my workshops in the future I would love to have you – or contact me if you want me to come. You can find me teaching some new Tattered Angels Workshops for example here:

Photos: USA Trip Fall 2010- Part I

What a journey – what a beautiful and inspiring road trip! Seriously – I feel so happy and relaxed right now- it is kind of scary- LOL. We landed in Denver, Colorado late in the afternoon – totally jet lagged and chipper- which didn’t stop us from meeting Liz Hicks for dinner at a fun Mexican Restaurant :)

USA_001_Colorado01

The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast with Wendy and Rachel from Tattered Angels and then I went with the girls to see the warehouse- it was so cool and fun! We later went out for lunch to a Seriously Texas BBQ place- LOL – fun name – and it was sad to say good bye for now :(

We started our roadtrip by driving to the Rocky Mountains National Park.

USA_009_RockyMountains02

We did an amazing hike and I just felt so good to be out in the nature all day. The fall colors were beautiful.

Lot’s of bugleing elks in the evening and even some fighting ones to see – impressive !

Viele röhrende Hirsche – und sogar einige kämpfende – ziemlich beeindruckend !

I really like the Rocky Mountains a lot! We continued our road trip after two days and went to Wyoming up to the Grand Tetons National Park.

USA_066_GrandTeton_17

We did some wonderful hikes there too and even got up one morning to see the sunrise at the lake which was pretty …and chilly- LOL

USA_074_GrandTeton_25

We saw a Mama Moose with her baby in the….Moose Pond – LOL – go figure!

My favorite Place in the Grand Tetons was the Oxbow Bend

Mein Lieblingsplatz in den Grand Tetons war Oxbow Bend

The next stop was Yellowstone National Park – I won’t spare you with you pictures ;) but this is for another post.

Altered: Free Canvas

This Canvas uses some supplies I really had a hard time to use – it is this feeling when you don’t want to use something that you love so much because you fear  that the outcome of your work wouldn’t do this special piece justice. I had this feeling with my Vintaj Pieces and as well as with the buttons which I had hold on to so long. But every clinging has to come to an end – LOL – and here you see the outcome of letting go…a canvas

*Free*

I am you
You are ME
You are the waves

Supplies: Canvas, Gesso by Golden, Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens, Vintaj Embellishments – Hardware- Beadcups – Washers- Altered Blankets etc., Eco Green Crafts Acrylic Paints, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Cheesecloth, Tissue Paper, Staz On, Buttons, Gel Medium, Pink Paislee Letter Stickers, Canvas Fabric

I think it was good to let go….I love it :)

DT-Work: Scary Halloween Projects *Tattered Angels*

Our assignment for September was to create something Halloween related and so I did :) SCARY!!!

*Imagination*

I had asked my friend if she would have some Halloween photos for me – since we do not really celebrate Halloween in Germany :) And there she had this wonderful vintage photo Halloween 1969 of hers- with the woolen Braids – so cute. I used a Glimmer Screen on the background and sprayed with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Chalkboard over it. Then I brushed it with the Chandelier Glam here and there and sprayed again. The little textured and stamped areas are created with Heidis Texture Stamps– I soooo love those! I stamped tissue paper and glued it down with the Glam. For the tree I had used three of the beautiful new Fall colors – sprayed directly onto the Screen, then lift it, turned it and did a negative stamp on top of some paper. Then I stamped it with the haunted Tree from the beautiful Halloween Stamp set and cut the tree out.

*Syndrome*

For this layout I sprinkled some of the Bordeaux Glimmer Glam onto the background. For the title I used the second layer of the Framed Fonts and sprayed, then cut out the letters. The spider was stamped with Glimmer Glaze, then oversprayed with the spider screen and Chalkbaord. I used a marker later.

*Happy Halloween*

For this card I used mainly the new Glimmer Mist Fall colors . I also used the spider net on the Chip Tile. The cat was like the spider stamped with Glaze, then overstamped with Archival Ink, sprayed with Glimmer Mist and the eyes in green colored with Glimmer Glaze.

Wishing you fun creating scary Halloween projects! :)

DTWork: Creating fun dimensional embellishments – SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L™

One of the big hits right now are all the new wonderful Die Cuts that you can use for all sorts of projects. I for example love the new Alterations by Tim Holtz – some of them are so detailed and fun and they give so much possibilities.

I do what so ever love to add dimensions to my projects and so I had to come up with an easy way on how to add dimension to my die cut embellishments.

Of course you can always use our Adhesive Sheets if you want to use Die Cuts-but did you know that you can use them also on other materials then paper? Foam for example …and foam is awesome to add dimension. Watch my video to see how :

Link is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxpNZBsUgqk

I hope you enjoyed the video and will try out all the fun ways you can use your Adhesives Sheets with.
