Trends for Winter CHA 2011

WinterCHAtrends

I was asked what Trends I foresee for the Winter CHA 2011

Here are some of my throughts about the upcoming trends for CHA Winter 2011

Patterns: I think there will be two different styles coming up and those will be also presented by different colors. A very clean and minimalistic look but I also think we will see a lot of pattern mixes – kind of an ethnic mix and mash style. Flowers mixed with stripes and polka dots  or Paisleys mixed with batik and circles etc.

Colors: As with the patterns I assume we will see two different color schemes. For the minimalistic and clean look I assume restrained and neutral colors, with lots of nuances and hues which can be mixed in a wonderful way. For the eclectic pattern mixes I think it will be a cosmopolitan color range – from dim dark colors to lively pink and red tones to earthy yet still prominent colors.

Techniques: Mixed Media Techniques will be still a huge trend. There will be new paints, new colors, new spray paint colors and new tools making it easy also for less technique driven Scrapbookers to use those paintmedia.

Material/Projects: Printed Book or Music Sheet paper- all kinds of things that have a natural look. One of the focuses I foresee for this CHA is how to enhance the Scrapbooking Products and use them in Homedecor items, recycle and reuse what you have.
I think we will see Banners still being a rage in all kinds of shapes.

I hope some of my assumptions are right, cause now I excited myself with them- LOL

What do you think – what will be the Trends for Winter CHA 2011?

Cool and inspiring photos! I have no idea of the trends but I like the first one, and I hope to have more vintage/liberty style inspired papers, I’m in the David Hamilton mood now :D Enjoy!!

hmm, so so Home Decor……. das werd ich mir merken. nee, schärz! Absolutely with you with the banners. I don’t quite understand the craze, I’ve loved them for as long as I can think and don’t quite understand why they pop up EVERYWHERE. I like your outlook, and look forward to see what trends you foresaw will actually develop! :))

Hi, Nathalie! I agree with you and I think mixed media will remain a major trend, because until now it only been growing. And this technique also helps in recycling, since it favors the mixing of materials.

I think the vintage also comes with strength, combining with neutral materials you cited, as the printed book and music sheet papers.

CHA Trade Show – Part IV

Finally sharing my last pictures of CHA :) It was such an exciting and crazy day!

My first stop was at the Prima Booth to do my Make ‘n Takes. We made those little Flowers with Prima Paintables and Watersoluble Crayons.

Here is my example layout I made *Composed Focus* to show how you can use the flowers.

It was so fun to see how much the people liked the watersoluble crayons!

Before the doors opened for the public Noell from Paperclipping came by and did an interview with me. I was really scared of the huge camera- LOL but they were both making me forget it was there- so that was good :)

The time went by fast and I had so many loveley people coming by!

Here are a super few pictures of the display – Prima had a “NO Photographs” Sign on their booth and I wasn’t sure if I should just snapp a lot of photos even though I’m with them at CHA – LOL

And here is Donna Downey doing Make and Takes with her new beautiful foamstamps and canvas pages.

Then I had a short time slot before lunch with the Stampington Editors and Melody Ross and Lucy Edson – so I hurried back to the Hambly booth. I so so so love Hambly and Allison is such a sweet Person!!!! I wish Hambly was easier to get in Germany!

After lunch I headed back to the Tattered Angels Booth to do my Make ‘n Takes there. Actually the first photo is from the day before where I demoed the Resist technique with the new Glimmer Glaze.

I was filmed again for a Craft TV Show – it was really fun…but I wish I would have had the time to look into the mirror and make myself “lively” again- LOL.

When we cleaned until the lights were shut off and Vicki Chrisman, Catherine Matthews Scanlon and I finally got together with Sandy from Crafty Secret for dinner. We had so much fun!

you can tell we are scrapbookers as we snap photos of our desert- LOL

I love my two friends – so so so happy to have finally been able to meet them.

That was it – I fell into my bed and slept like a stone :)

CHA Trade Show – Part III

What a day! Started that I wanted to eat cereals in my hotel room before rushing out and realizing the milk in the fridge was frozen solid rock. Then I rushed out – the line at Starbucks a hundred miles long – I only could grab my coffee and rush out, realizing that I lost my favorite necklace on the way. I thought that would be the worst day ever- LOL – but it wasn’t. I went to the myStampBox Table and helped Bettina out for two hours.

Here is the display of the work of our Designteam.

Then I rushed to an exciting meeting with Jana Holstein, Vanessa Spencer and Jennifer Jackson – Editors at Stampington – and they had planned to video tape me while doing a Challenge Layout. We went to the press room where they have a little extra box with a table and chair where you can have private press meetings and I got some materials I had no clue I would get and I had 20 minutes time for this.

I had only a scissor – no paper trimmer or cutter- so just ripped the papers apart – LOL

Here is Jana filming- she is sooo sweet. I’m so glad I finally got to meet her – it was like we have known each other from all our email contacts.

I couldn’t believe I did this in 20 minutes- because usually I take 3-5 hours for a layout- LOL. We hadn’t had a picture and the cut out one of me on a published Layout in Somerset Memories(too funny)

I used Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Glam with it also – our new Tattered Angels products – so that was fun!

I couldn’t snap a better picture – they took it with them to be photographed professionally. The journaling by the way is: NO – Why do I always forget to pack the right shoes? CHA Winter 2010.

Here are Vanessa Spencer, Jana Holstein and me together

It was so awesome! I will let you know when it goes life online.

On my way to the Tattered Angels Booth I snapped a photo of Julie doing awesome Make ‘n Takes at the Sakura Booth.

Here are some photos of the Tattered Angels Booth

Here is Celine demoing

And Heidi Swapp

Heidi is the sweetest person in the world! She looked at me at the private Tattered Angels Room and must have seen that I look hungry- LOL – and gave me her sandwich. She literally saved my life as this was in the afternoon my very first meal.

I did my Demos – I have no photos of it – but Sascha and Maria were there and snapped a lot- can’t wait to see them. It ws pretty fun to get to play with the new products and tell the people how they work (while figuring it out- LOL).

Afterwards I went to the hotel room…or I should say crawled  – my feet there swollen. Bettina and I had dinner with the Canadian Scrapbooker  Magazine Crew.

The food was delish yummie (am I talking too much about me being hungry? LOL).

It was sooooo much fun – I laughed so hard ….my belly hurt- LOL. Leica Forest is such a funny Sweet heart – I’m so happy we finally got to meet.  Here is the whole fun crew

Canadian Scrapbooker Team Jackie Ludlage and Katharina Doyle with Connie Nichols and Heather Starosielski. Barb from Scraptivity and myStamp BOX team Leica Forrest, Bettina von Gross and me.

Alrighty – off to another day and unfortunatley last day at CHA for me.

CHA Trade Show – Part I

I’m sooooo tired- so – my German friends- please forgive me I’m not do a translated posting -I will maybe do it later.

Such an awesome day! After a nice breakfast with Julie Fei Fan Balzer and Lucy Edson the three of us walked the floor – from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We started at the knitting section – those knitted animals were the coolest in the world!

We saw Cat doing Make and Takes for EK-Success and I got to spent a couple minutes with her :)

Those ATC’s are actually by Cat. I so loved all the details and Love that was visible in all booths.

I love this K&Company products- definetly the fevers!

My favorite was this manufacturer: Vintaj (spoken Vintage) – so awesome!!!

and look at all the artwork they had in their booth – I wanted to stay there forever!

Another company I loved and I loved their new tools was GCD

Their ChipArt Tools are the coolest thing in the world- not only the tool itself with which you can make marks into chipboard but also the packaging is cute!

Here is Lucy with one of the Designer’s beautiful book – I love how the Chipboard Cover look leathery!

You can do awesome borders on chipboard

And those are some of the chipboards for the ChipArt

And their beautiful paper

And of course 7Gypsies- ahhha- awesome- especially the artwork too

The Studio Calico Paper and Fabric Stripes – OOHhhh I love it!

And again EcoGreen – as said- I love the concept- we need more of this!

Look how much fun it was at the Doodlebug Design Booth – seriously I laughed really hard :)

Julie shooting pictures and making sure she got all :) I love her to pieces :)

And finally – because I can’t stay up any longer – my eyes are closing while writing  – last picture from midday where we had a fun lunch with Dina Wakley and Kerry Lynn Yeary. So much fun to meet up with them and talk a bit !

More pics maybe tomorrow morning before I leave for the second day of CHA – good night…or good morning to Europe :)

CHA Craft SuperShow II

Yesterday I had a nice day meeting lot’s of people and strolling around at the Craft Supershow again. I saw my sweet heart Vicki again while she was doing Make and Takes – and look what she did :)

I took some photos of this new company Eco Green Crafts which was there too – I can’t wait to see them at the Trade show- I love their concept of going green with the acrylic paints and the other products they have. Those are the only photos again – I definetly have to think of taking pictures.

I am still mad of me that I didn’t get one of those torsos!

For breakfast I met two Germans – Maria and Sascha – very nice couple and fun to be around! I had a short visit at the Tattered Angels Booth in the CHA Trade Hall where I got some nice sneaks of the stuff that will be going on today. Awesome! It is so amazing to see how they all set up their booths- all the work that goes into it and the details. And it is HUUUUGGEEEE! I can’t wait when CHA starts today!

Oh and here is a picture I just got sent from Sweetheart Julie Tucker who I met at the Supershow- so fun – and unexpected at that moment.

I had lunch and dinner with my friend Cat I finally met. It was so cool over years and years we emailed and skyped but we never saw each other in real life. It was so fun.

I also met up with Bettina, the owner of myStampBox and we had a great time laughing and chatting at a CHA Reception we went to. I’m now getting ready and off to meet Julie Fei Fan Balzer and Lucy Edson for breakfast before we go to walk the floor!
