Guest Designer: Creative Therapy

I was really excited when I was asked to be a guestdesigner for Creative Therapy a couple months ago. I’m a big fan of the themes and designers of this blog. I chose the theme “a painful memory”. In my humble opinion Scrapbooking is also about feelings and memories – but in this case it was really difficult – I had a hard time with my layout -but it was also a bit freeing.

*The Last Time*

Journaling Reads:

My stepfather died in Italy – while I was in Venice – not too far away. We had talked on the phone and I told him that I would come and visit him in a couple weeks. When I came home my Mom called me – he had a stroke and fell off his bikes in the mountains. I was so sad – even after my parents got divorced I vistited him every month staying in my old room. After the funeral I went to our “Home”. I loved this old little house with the vine all over. It hurt so much to open the door knowing that I would never come back. He had my room prepared for my next visit – new bedsheets and my big teddy bear sitting n the bed. I cried the whole time saying good bye to him and my home. I miss you so much, Dad! 10 years later- still!!!

The overall look is pretty busy and cloudy – but is exactly reflecting my emotional feelings when I created this layout thinking about my memories. All blurred up – a clean and simple layout would have never fit for me.

Supplies: Danyeela Patterned Paper, Rose Mokka Papers, Prima Overlay, Prima Felt Fim Strip, Heidi Swapp Chipboard Letters, 7 Gypsies Tag, Grungeboard Key, Acrylic Paints, Crackle Accents, Punchinella.

Take a look at all the other layouts– they are very touching!

Studio DaphNat: Modeling Paste Technique

Daphne and I were inspired by Ashley Calder’s Book Scraptastic. We tried the Modeling Paste Technique and here it is.

Was Ihr braucht – What you will need

  • Cardboard
  • (Pinsel) Brush
  • Gesso
  • Modelier Paste/Modeling Paste
  • Spitze/Point Stylus
  • Kreide/Chalk
  • optional Neocolors II
  • Kosmetikschwämmchen/Eye Make Up Applicator

First of all you need a surface that is pretty sturdy- you can use cardboard or something similiar.  You need to prime your surface with gesso otherwise the modeling paste will soak through.

After the Gesso dried, apply a thin coating of Modeling Paste. You can either do it totally smooth or leave some bulky areas for more structure. I did it with more structure- I like it better that way!

After the Modeling Paste dried use a pointy tool to draw some shapes, letters, flowers – whatever comes to your mind – into the paste. Be careful to use not to much force as you can injure the cardboard too.

Now you can use chalk and an eye make up applicator to color your background.

Ich habe darüber hinaus meine wasserlöslichen Wachsmalkreiden verwendet.

I also used my water soluble crayons.

Und so sieht mein Versuch dann aus

And this is how my trial looks like

Schaut mal, was Daphne so gezaubert hat.

Take a look at Daphne‘s result. And we will show you our layouts soon too.
