Jumping with… Tonia Jenny – A CJS Interview Series

So happy to share with you today a special video interview I did with one of our Creative JumpStart 2020 teachers: Tonia Jenny. This is Tonia’s first year with CJS and because I have known her a few years already, I am very excited that she is joining our awesome lineup this year.

A little about Tonia: Tonia was an editor for many years for North Light craft and art books where I met her, before she started her own editorial, writing, and life coaching biz. And of course she is also a super talented and versatile mixed media artist, who is very attuned to self exploration and also seeing the potential in everyday materials and items. I think you will love seeing her talk about her creative philosophy and also you may find it inspiring to hear how she approaches tackling new tools, media, and artistic challenges, because hey, Creative JumpStart is all about having fun while trying some new things :) And… she talks about the most creative job application I have probably ever heard about. You don’t want to miss it LOL

Jumping with… Jen Crossley…a CJS Interview Series

In this interview with Jen Crossley, we talk about Craft vs. Art, metal edging, junk stores, her love of cooking and the unlikely likely occurrence of poisonous spiders in Australia ;)

Jen is also sharing one of her favorite recipes with us:

1 Lge BBQ chicken cooked
1 small Brown onion
1 pkt Bacon
3/4 cup Chicken stock
1 cup Milk
3 Tablespoons Plain flour ( not self raising)
3 dessertspoons Butter

Topping:
3 tablespoons of butter
2 cups cornflakes

Break up the chicken into small pieces no bones. In a saucepan melt the butter then add the onion, add the bacon and cook until done, do not brown the bacon or onion. Next add flour – do not brown the flour. Cook for 2 minutes. Add chicken stock and milk, stir until this thickens then simmer for two minutes. You can add a bit more milk if the sauce is too thick. Mix in Chicken pieces then put it into a casserole dish.

Topping:
Melt the butter and the cornflakes together then spread on top of the chicken base. Bake in a oven on a medium heat till the cornflakes brown on the top.

Serve and enjoy!

Jumping with…Joe Rotella – a CJS Interview Series

A lot of giggling in this video with my dear friend Joe Rotella, who is one of our teachers yet again for Creative JumpStart. Check out our,sometimes not so serious, talk about Automatons, Apprenticeship, Community and Instagram.

Pumpkin Chip Muffins

Makes 12 regular or 48 miniature.

1-2/3 c. whole wheat flour (white flour works well too)

1 c. sugar

1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

2 lg. eggs

1 c. plain pumpkin (half of 1 lb. can)

1/2 c. (1 stick) melted butter

1/2 to 1 cup slivered or blanched almonds or flaked sweetened coconut

1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate chips

Mix dry ingredients in large bowl.

In another bowl whisk until well blended: eggs, pumpkin and butter.

Stir in almonds and chocolate chips.

Pour over dry ingredients and fold in until just moistened.

Grease muffin cups or use paper baking cups.

Bake at 350°Ffor 20 to 25 minutes.

Make 1 or 2 days ahead for best flavor
