an older layout of mine with my friend A. and her sweet little daughter

supplies: Webster’s Pages, Pink Paislee; Prism; SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L MyStik; Golden Gel Medium; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Chalkboard and Glimmer Screen; Tim Holtz Type Charms; Hambly Screenprints; Cheesecloth

I am longing for the days where you can sit outside and have a coffee at one of our many street cafes here. The funny thing is that our weather is so bad in Hamburg- lot’s of rain, that we actually go out A LOT . So you see bars and cafe’s right now that have a box with nice woolen blankets outside as soon as one little sunray is visible. I just love the vibe and feel when the life of a city takes place on the street.

Are you longing for some sun too?

Have a great and….sunny day ;)

Apparently he likes to sit on everything that takes attention from him. My projects, my studio, my kindle, my books and so on….LOL. I think this is a message….Well I know he likes to have me around so that he can ignore me ;)

Have a fun day!

    I love this page! (^ ^) My cat, of course, is the king of the house. Everything is his, my books, my papers, my buttons, my threads and my glue. He loves glue! I don’t know why I write “my, my, my” if all the things are from him :D

    one reason i don’t have a cat is because i’m afraid to get my feelings hurt all the time by being ignored ;) our friends have one that looks almost like yours and it’s a cutie so i can imagine your cat is a sweetheart as well.

    Hi Nat! Mine (well, 1 of my 2 kitties) does it all the time! It makes me nervous when I quilt, because he sits so close to the sewing machine I could almost stitch his ears to my quilts! Still I think it’s a call for attention… I’m sure he would like me to drop all my creative activities (and computing) so I can devote myself to him ;-)

This Picture….

will always crack me up – we laughed so much in Amsterdam doing this silly pose.

Who says working isn’t fun sometimes- LOL. A., Sharon Laakkonen, Wendy Senger and Kelly Goree doing the stop motion. All the people around us must have thought that there were several screws loose – LOL.  And that reminds me…I really want to go back to Amsterdam. It is such an awesome city.

Just laugh…or…so there

this is definelty a week where things are not going the way they should ….LOL. But do you know this punchy mood when something goes wrong and you just laugh…like a Kookaburra….(listen ;) )

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc_-icFHwQo]

These birds woke me up one morning last year in Australia when I was on my workshop tour in NSW. I opened one eye because I heard this noise and because Sherry had told me about those birds, I knew it was them . I started laughing in bed, it was soo funny.

So ….this week- I’m just gonna laugh it off like a Kookaburra – so there printer, so there lost CHA package, so there accidents…..

Have a day filled with laughter :)

Free Your Creativity: ARTmournal …eh artjournal

If you missed why I call an Art Journal – ARTmournal: check this post

My ARTmournal has been a great way the last couple of weeks to keep me sane- LOL. And it helped tremendously in decisions for projects for CHA. It is just so freeing to play in the journal and combining it with different other things like new media (yum yum yum…..will talk more about this new treasure soon), techniques, colors, thoughts.

and it is so forgiving because it is what it is – a journal – if I do not like what I did- I can always cover it up again …

and do something else….

Makes some fun 10 minutes a day,  and helps to get some play- and me-time:

Preparing me for the big project.Calming me down. Taking away the fear of the blank page. Getting my thoughts and emotions articulated.

And that about sums it up for me now why doing an ARTjournal/mournal .

Try it :)

Have an amazing and wonderful day…I’m off to tackle my printer…that guy is in TROUBLE ! LOL

A friend, a good friend …or catchy tunes

This layout is actually created on an old record and was published last year in the SAZ Sketchbook .

One of the things I love to use and that inspire me, is song texts or titles and use them for my layouts. One tune that came to my mind when I saw those photos of a camping trip in 1949 of my grand aunt Margot, her husband and their best friends is “Ein Freund, ein guter Freund” a catchy song.

Actually the stories she told about this trip made me quite laugh, there is a broken car, a case of beer and being caught catching fish in a private lake, involved.

Here is the song if you wanna check it out sung by The Comedian Harmonists – it is in German ;)

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35PCFQtrgJM]

The lyrics translate kind of into this

Sunny day, great day
pounding heart, like the beat of a motor
a happy goal, a happy start
and a wonderful trip;
Rome and Madrid we did.
So went life in a whirl for the three of us
by sea, by land [and]
we realized one thing..

A friend, a good friend,
that’s the nicest thing
that there is in the world.
A friend always remains a friend,
even if the entire world collapses.
So don’t even be sad,
if your sweetheart doesn’t love you anymore
A friend, a good friend,
that’s the best thing there is.
