Kickstarter Campaign for Gentrification Exhibition

NatKalbach_GentrificationExh

‘gentrification’ is an audio-visual exhibition opening on January 10, 2015 at 313 Gallery in Jersey City, NJ and I am part of it :)

It is a show about the changing social and economic landscape of Jersey City. For the exhibit, Jersey City artists  use recorded audio interviews with locals as a basis for new work exploring the virtues and detriments of the inevitable ‘gentrification’ of Jersey City.

Of course in order for this show to be successful, we need audio equipment. In this KickStarter Campaign we ask for your support in order to make this happen. We need 650 Dollars. Here is the video with the pledge:

Any donations exceeding the goal will go towards creating an exhibition catalog. Any proceeds exceeding 1000$ will go towards a local charitable organization TBA.

Participating artists include:

Narciso Espiritu

Nathalie Kalbach

Norman Kirby

Gabriella Perez

Sam Pullin

Fabricio Suarez

Sarah Veloso

Olivia Wilber

It would be wonderful if this would work out – maybe you would like to add a little token to it :) I will keep you updated on the process of the painting and the exhibition itself – maybe you are in the area and want to come and see/hear it .

Thank you and have a gorgeous day

Relaunched n*Studio Website: New Navigation

Wohoo – finally I can show you my new website…you might not have even noticed it :) The design is pretty much the same – with some minor changes but the biggest and most important thing I changed, is the website navigation – especially for my online workshops. Yes, just as you, I didn’t like it at all, so for six months this was worked on and finally it is done :)
Here is a little video so you see how it works

I love the new navigation and it is so much easier…I hope you love it too :) Some other things are new- can you spy them?

Let me know how you like the new navigation, or if you have questions, or if something doesn’t work, so we can figure it out :)

Thank you and have a gorgeous day

41 … so what?

NatB Here we go – 41st Birthday today. Sounds so adultish… Did anything change? Besides that I am still making smart faces nowadays when photographed, I am truly enjoying that I am finally getting to a stage where I feel comfortable with who I am – it took me a long time to get here. I guess that is part of being adultish…but most of the time…I feel like this:

Love my life, love my job, love my family and my friends. Love you my blog readers … Thanks for joining my ride – you are awesome. On to the next year – – I am looking forward to it :)

Have a gorgeous one :)

Guest Designer at Ruby Rock-It

Thank you Ruby Rock-It for having me as a Guest Designer this month. It was fun to play again with Scrapbooking Paper and here are two Scrapbooking Layouts I created for them :)

NatKalbach_KL_01

K.L.
I used the Year in Review April page as a base and toned it down here and there with Gesso. I also scribbled some marks on there. I cut out the flowers of the Mother Nature Point in Time Paper and colored three of them with watercolor.
NatKalbach_KL_02
I also cut out Flowers of the Mother Nature Royale and Mother Nature Flutterby Paper as well as the beautiful butterfly. I layered different paper and vellum a the bottom of the photo. The title which is short for Kuala Lumpur where the photo was taken is hand painted with a brush and acrylic paint and then doodled on with a black journaling pen.
NatKalbach_KL_03
Life is like a box of chocolate
For this layout I used the beautiful Mother Nature Cardstock and painted with some Liquitex Acrylic Paints over it.
NatKalbach_LifeIs_01
I also painted the back of some of the Damask Vellum and cut out one of the damask shapes.
NatKalbach_LifeIs_02
I layered stripes and rectangles of the Floral Vellum, Mother Nature Royale and Year in Review June Paper. I wrote the title with a Liquitex Acrylic Marker on the Mother Nature Royale paper, traced it and cut it out for a nice extra hand made touch.
NatKalbach_LifeIs_03
I splattered some Liquitex Acrylic Ink onto the layout to give it a bit contrast with black and make the colors more pop.
Ruby Rock-It was so nice to offer a giveaway – Bella! Year In Review collection! – here is a picture of it – go give them some Like-Love on their Facebook Page in return and tell them you come from me – so they know ;)
打印
Hope you have a gorgeous day with lot’s of chocolate …I mean…who doesn’t like chocolate?

A Farewell to the Prima Education Team

Although it was my own decision I am a bit sad to say good bye to the Prima Education Team. I have been with Prima since 2007 and had a fun time teaching Prima Workshops, creating CHA Projects, CHA Demos and other stuff. Seven years is a long time though and I feel it is time for a change – but today I would love to look back and show some of my favorite projects and workshops throughout those years with Prima.

Probably my all time favorite Prima Workshop I taught because it has so much personal meaning to me, is my Altered Book Class – I taught it throughout 2013.

This Canvas Workshop is another favorite of mine and I have taught it last year and will teach it again next month in Malaysia.

Summer06

I loved this online Prima Class I did with Donna Downey in 2012 called “A Spoonful of Texture” – it is about texture – and it has a spoon on the cover…so what is not to love about it- LOL

NatKalbachSpoonfulTexture

I did have a lot of fun creating this little Sardine Tin for CHA2012

This card I made in 2009 and which was part of a blog tutorial for Prima, is still one of my favorite cards- as you can see I have always had a heart for funky bold colors ;)

This layout which I created in 2008 showed my love for texture and gesso already :) – funny when I look at all those projects I realize that my style was always evident

This Family Getaway Canvas which I taught in 2007/2008 was a big hit- and I still have it hanging on my studio wall

this is another layout from 2008 which was published in Somerset Memories- Loved painting on the paper – gosh I loved the bright Prima Papers so much :)

everybodynow_blog

And this mini album class ” A Wonderful World” was also special for me because I taught it in NYC and that was in 2009 – the first time I taught a workshop in the U.S. – who would have thought I would ever live here- LOL.

ScraptasticWonder_07

Thank you Prima for having me for such a long time and actually believing in my skills as a teacher in the first place back in 2007 when I probably barely knew what I was doing in Europe ;) . Thank you also for inspiring me with your amazing products all those years to create projects and workshops which are still dear to my heart and meaningful to me. Thank you also to all my wonderful Education Team Colleagues- I have had a wonderful time whenever I saw you and spent time with you! A special thank you to Sharon, Cari and Denny – you three have been throughout all those years a wonderful support and I am happy to have been working with you guys!

Wishing you all a wonderful and prima ;) day

huge hugs

I have enjoyed the creations that you have made with Prima products. Their thick paper is still one of the things that I use sparingly from my stash. My Family Movie Night Canvas is still hanging in my kitchen and is a favorite with visitors to our house. You did Prima proud and they supported you while you learned to fly a little higher.

Bitter-Sweet goodbyes are the toughest ones, but sometimes in order to grow you have to make huge changes. I know everyone at Prima wishes you nothing but the best on your journey, and you undoubtedly will be greatly missed. I am just so thankful for Art Venture 2014 and all the memories it holds. Now, I will have to plan a trip to New York. Bummer. Lol. Hugs and good luck on all your new endeavors!!

You did Prima proud…and I’m sure you’ll continue to inspire and educate as your journey continues in different directions. See you soon! :)

Crazy Americans or…Happy Halloween

NatKalbach_Halloween01

As we do not really celebrate Halloween in Germany…well it is getting more and more over last couple years but we do not have a real history of it, it is pretty funny to see all the decorations and people dressed in costumes. The funniest is when you ride on the subway to or from NYC sitting next to a witch and looking at a squid, while the shark dog on the lap of another guy is looking pretty harmless ;) I love this video with the song for Halloween – Dan Buckley did an amazing job with this!

I was wondering what I would wear as a costume if I would go to a Halloween party and I think I would go as a Picasso Guitar – LOL. What would you / what are you wearing for Halloween?

Huge hugs
