Andrea Chebeleu

About Andrea:

Andrea Chebeleu, owner and artist behind A Work of Heart Studio in San Jose California (started in 1998) loves her daily creative practice and sharing knowledge of materials and process with others. She finds great joy in breaking down seemingly complicated processes into simple steps and has adopted a guiding principle of “First, Not Only” attitude which she passes on to every student. The attitude of “first, not only” gives us permission to playfully explore without fear.
Pre-covid times Andrea taught in her studio in San Jose and ran the adjacent art supply shop full time. The shop is still open but all classes are currently happening via zoom which makes taking awesome classes even more accessible to students worldwide.
Andrea is a mom to 3 grown children and a wife to an engineer husband who loves to indulge her in the latest tech gadgets, the latest being a laser cutter and 3-d printer on which they design one of a kind custom products to include in class kits. When not focusing on art and the business Andrea enjoys fostering kittens for her local county and takes pride in placing each and every furry baby in loving homes.

Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk

About Marlene:

I was born in South Africa and emigrated to the Netherlands in 2002 after marrying my DUTCH husband. We have 2 lovely children, Charlize and Fabian. Together we live in a small coastal town in the northern part of The Netherlands.

I am a mixed media colorist, illustrator, journaler and all over creative spirit.

I have been a signature designer for different craft companies: Studio Light, The Crafters Workshop, Artfoamies and Grafixarts. I just love making designs that people can use in their art! Currently I design more exclusively for Studio Light.

My art is meant to brighten up the darkest of days. I try to work in several art styles. I believe that it is part of my creative freedom to explore all styles that I like and that it broadens not only my view of art, but the all over experience too. I refuse to limit myself to man set borders, like country, color, political views, ethnicity, religion or social standing… that I happen to be born in to.

My artistic trademark is my use of bright & happy colours, my whimsical style and the decorative details I use. My work is full of layers, movement, vibrant colors and lots of contrast!

I tutor live classes on a weekly base and travel the world to teach with my artsy products. I am very grateful to teach in CJS2021.

“MY SEARCH IS ONGOING FOR THE ULTIMATE ART ADVENTURE”

Riikka Kovasin

About Riikka:

My name is Riikka Kovasin and I am a mixed media crafter from Finland. Creating is my passion and a way of self-care. Besides family of four and crafts, my weeks are filled with a full-time job.
I have been doing all sorts of crafts my whole life. I come from a family of creatives and have a degree in clothing design. I really got into papercrafts after I found scrapbooking when my older daughter was about 6 months old – that’s over 12 years ago. Since then my style has evolved to more and more mixed media and nowadays I tend to do a lot more mixed media pieces than layouts. I do art journal pages, canvases, altered pieces, cards and ATCs.
I absolutely adore getting my hands into paints and mediums! To me the process of creating is at least equally important than the finished project.

Iris Fritschi-Cussens

About Iris:

I’m Iris Fritschi-Cussens, a Dutch mixed media artist, teacher & vlogger based in London, UK where I live with my beautiful family (husband, 2 kids and many pets).

I’m passionate about art and art journaling for self-expression and self-discovery. My art style is raw and colourful and in it I seek to express my feelings. My hope is that others will see, share and feel understood in the emotions that I express in my paintings.

Online I love to share my art, my outlook and my creative life through pictures, writing & videos. It’s important to me to share real life, not just a polished ‘social media version’, so apart from the happy times I also address the harder feelings, and struggles like creative block. I certainly don’t have it all together, I’m just figuring things out and sharing the process as I do and hoping I can inspire those on a similar journey along the way!

In my spare time I like to sing in my choir, go roller blading, play video/board games and find the perfect gin cocktail.

I’m currently obsessed with: making stickers of my art, vlogging my creative life, my Moleskin crinkly sketchbook, heavy body white acrylic paint, fluorescent pink everything and my red Prismacolor pencil.
