Alive – Art Journal

“Go where you feel most alive”

I created my background with water based spray paints, acrylic paint, and my Art Deco Summit stencil. I went back in with one of my Hex Small rubber stamps for the black lines, and used my pencil eraser for the dots.

This was a neighborhood scene study, and I sketched this block of row houses with acrylic markers.

Dear Nat: I love the combination of colors, which remembers me of historical buildings here in San juan, P. R.

So long time i have not contacted you, because had a big problen with Internet after H. María. Now i cannot reach my classes! My identification with your company: elenajuga2015 – Grandscraperona. Can this be fixed? Hope the personnel in charge can do something about, because i need to revise those classes!… Thanks in advance, hoping everyone is healthy around!

I so love these colors Nat. The rich tones of the building and the pastels on the right hand side that scream beautiful spring day to me! Thanks for all your inspiration!

Whistling – Art Journal

“Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush!” It hasn’t been much of a winter yet here but I am always more excited for warm Spring weather than the cold :)

For my background I used gouache paint and a cosmetic sponge with my Art Deco Summit stencil.

I went back and forth with the two colors. I like this stencil because it combines some fine detail with larger areas of color.

My Fan-tastic rubber stamps fit in there quite nicely. Here I used one of the small Fairview stamps.

For my quote I used a Derwent watersoluable pencil and then went in with a wet brush to oomph up the lettering.

I added some dots with the back of my pencil.

Stories – Art Journal

“In the end we’ll all become stories.” – Margaret Atwood

I used Liquitex spray paints with my Art Deco Summit stencil for the background. I also found that my Fanfare rubber stamps fit nicely into that stencil pattern to give a little more detail to the pattern.

For the house I used a handmade stencil and then went back in with a fine tip Molotow marker for the sketchy lines and doodle marks etc.

Sparkle Year – Art Journal

This is your year to Sparkle! – I love all the possibilities that the new year brings, with maybe a fresh start and a burst of energy and enthusiasm.

For my background I used heavy body acrylic paints and white gesso, but also I used the Gold Gesso by Daniel Smith for some serious sparkle with my Art Nouveau Wallpaper and Art Deco Summit stencils.

I hope you are ready to sparkle :)

What a lovely spread, it looks very oriental. I almost expect to see a stork flying by on the pages, very pretty.

Love the effect of the gold – I too have Daniel Smith Gold Gesso but have not gotten the results you did – will give it another go. BTW, CJS2020 is phenomenal. Thank you for making it happen!

Is it Worth it? – Art Journal

“Is is worth questioning yourself by comparing yourself to others?” Never! Such a hard lesson to learn that I continue to work on. How about you?

I used my Art Deco Summit Stencil and then painted my figure over it with acrylic paints and adding black gesso surrounding her.

My quote I did in gold and white acrylic markers.

Dreamed – Art Journal

“Remember that once you dreamed of being exactly where you are now!” Maybe you have also reached some goals in life and are now living them? Sometimes we are so focused on what’s next that we don’t stop to see where we are. And hey, it is in a pretty good spot :)

I used Liquitex spraypaints, gouache and acralic paint on the back ground and on deli paper. Then I sprayed with white and black over my brandnew Art Deco Summit stencil and the formerly painted background.

Then I added an ink drawing and used a Fude pen for journaling.
