Blog: n*Studio

Happy Blogiversary n*Studio!

So I can’t quite believe it, but I am celebrating 10 years of blogging on n*Studio.  The actual anniversary happened last month and I spent a little time looking back through old posts and projects and sometimes laughing and sometimes cringing.  As you may know, I started 10 years ago  while I was still working as a paralegal and some of you readers were here through the time when I was transitioning to being a full time artist.  It was a big change but the whole process has been an amazing and rewarding experience, filled with new opportunities, colleagues, and friends!  I want to thank every one of you readers who tune in and I am totally looking forward to many more years of blogging with all of you!

In honor of the occasion, I am super excited to offer you a Happy Blogiversary Sale!  Between now and July 31st 2016 at 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time (yes with the help of modern technology it is a very precise time) you can enjoy 20% off online workshops (like Creative Jumpstart 2016), DVDs, and select items (including all the stamps and stencils) from the n*Store online.  The sale prices are reflected in the store now.

In the comments below, I would love to hear how long you have been reading this blog and if you are a blogger yourself, how long you have been blogging.  And as always, please share with me the mixed media, craft, and art journal projects that you’ve created using my stamps and stencils!

I started following your blog when you had your first Creative Jump Start. I found several of your techniques worked great for fabric which is what I use in my art. I have purchased most of your stamps and stencils but I see a few I don’t have. Hmmmm…..

Congrats on 10 years of success on the blogosphere. May you have many more as I love your work and products and I hope to take more classes from you, especially when you are in Oklahoma. On a more personal note, I hope your family in Germany is safe. Please stay strong and creative as we need your talent in these trying times.

WOW – CONGRATULATIONS NAT!!! The big 10 – SUPER INCREDIBLE!!!

You WON my heart the minute I found you – thru your art and with your adorable personality. I consider you a FABULOUS Mentor – in fact, you were my very first mentor when I began painting/blogging. That was two years ago this coming fall. And in Jan. I took my first CJS class with you.

So I’m a newbie – more or less. BUT… I feel like part of your family. You have always made me feel special and welcomed me into the fold. Lots of folks don’t have that gift but you just have a super big heart and care so much about all of us. And I care about you too – you are just a DELIGHT to me. So be assured… I will be here for the next TEN years – watching, learning and admiring YOU dear Nat. BIG BIG HUGS. j.

I found you about two years ago through Julie F-B’s blog, and joined in on CJS in 2015 (and this year). I really have enjoyed getting to know you through those and through your blog. You are an incredible artist and such an inspiration in many ways.
I hope to meet you in person someday, and look forward to your inspiration over the next 10 years!

    Happy blog-anniversary!
I don’t remember when first laid eyes on your blog but you were still living in Germany and had just started your transition to full time artist.
I started rubberstamping 16 years ago and started my first blog 11 years ago but after being inspired by your work I turned from scrapbook towards mixed media with my stamps and inks. And now I can’t remember when I last bought a piece patterned paper …
Looking forward to the continuation of your journey!

Simply BOLD or…Grunge Stampset

This is another layout which I did for the Stampendous! CHA booth to showcase my new Stampset Grunge.

NatKalbach_Bold01

I know….pretty unusual for me, right? I do love the simplicity though- as my emphasis was on my word of the year: BOLD – I needed a statement like layout ;)

I used as said the Grunge Stampset

GrungeNatKalbachGrungeTemplate

and the included free 2 piece template.

NatKalbach_Bold02

I used the stamps and the template with acrylic paint – my favorite way to use stamps and those stamps are just perfect for it.

Here are the few supplies I used:

Wishing you a gorgeous weekend

12 Days of California Part II: My Stampendous Stamps Debut at CHA

NatKalbach_Stampendous04

Seeing my own stamp designs and my photo at the Stampendous Booth was sooooo cool.

NatKalbach_Stampendous05

I came into the Convention Center a little bit before my class started and took a peek at the booth…(the show wasn’t open to the public yet)

NatKalbach_Stampendous06

I was all by myself and I was looking at this in disbelieve- it honestly felt unreal as if the alarm clock would ring the next minute to make me wake up and realize this was just a dream. Instead my alarm went off that I would have to run to my first CHA class ever- 50 Retailers – waiting to play with my Stamps and other Stampendous Products.

NatKalbachCHAClass

It was a fun class- and after an uncomfortable two seconds realizing that someone hung a microphone on my clothes “FREAK- I never had a mic while teaching” I got the hang out of it, as I already started loosing my voice after teaching the last two days six classes at ArtVenture. I was also happy to see some familiar faces from either working together before or students that took my ArtVenture Class- that was fun!

NatKalbach_Stampendous01

Teaching Retailers is definitely different. A lot of my students in this class did not come because they love Mixed Media- but because they wanted to get educated in Mixed Media and learn about it because they realized there is a huge demand for it in their stores. It was a very different approach in this class when my usual let loose and get creative.  I enjoyed when some of them that never played with paint told me they liked it a lot and get their costumer love for it :) Right on ;)

NatKalbach_Stampendous02

And btw not every teacher at CHA as a good friend like JumpStarter Joe Rotella who comes with a chef hat into your class to deliver lunch because he knows you never eat right at CHA ;) Thank you Joe- that made me laugh so hard…too bad I had a mic – my already loud laughing must have scared my students a lot – LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous03

I learned a lot  by teaching this class and hopefully there will be another opportunity for a CHA class in the future. I loved seeing my stamps being used – it made me all giddy :)

NatKalbach_Stampendous14

NatKalbach_Stampendous19

Thank you Liquitex, Speedball,  May Arts and Imagine Crafts(Tsukineko) for sponsoring my Stampendous Class!

NatKalbach_Stampendous09

I demoed also a couple days at the Stampendous booth…until I lost my voice totally – but hey…I sounded really interesting- LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous10

NatKalbach_Stampendous20

And I loved having friends over and Cindy Bundy from the Stampendous Designteam showing me her sample

NatKalbach_Stampendous11

Thank you to all of you who took my CHA Class and came to see my demos ! Thank you also to the awesome Stampendous Staff who did such an amazing job behind the scenes and helped me during and after my classes!

I am going to add a list of the stores that cary my stamps to my website here soon – they are already available and I know some stores have them already in the house :)

More about CHA and which trends I observed will follow :)

have a gorgeous day

huge hugs

It didn’t dawn on me that you would be teaching retailers, but that makes sense when I thing of who attends CHA. I bet most of them had fun even if they started the day with thoughts of getting info just for their customers.
