Stars Gone Too Early – Art Journal

I made this page last week not knowing that yet again an horrific shooting took place. I made this page after the Shooting in Buffalo as I use my art journal not only to explore materials and techniques but sometimes also to work through thoughts and things that happen in the world. This was another very sad morning when I created it – the page does not really reflect my anger and helplessness about the horrible things that keep on happening here.

I cannot even imagine the pain the families of all those incidents have to go through. All I know is that this has to stop!

What kind of a society are we where we let this happen over and over again?

Quoting Amanda Gorman “What might be if only we tried. What might we become if only we listen.”

Jealousy – Art Journal

“Jealousy is the fear of comparison.”

I sketched into my ledger with a Derwent pencil, added some watercolor, and colored in the hair and face with Caran D’ache Museum Aquarelle pencils. I used a super fine point Posca marker for the journaling.

The background is my Beacon stencil used with acrylic paint and a cosmetic sponge.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 5

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 5:

This week’s prompt was Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

I added a bit to the lyrics ;) You know Led Kalbach – yeah stupid joke LOL

For this art journal spread I spray painted in grey over my Toledo Stencil and then layered the Beacon Stencil on top and sprayed with pink and beige as well as purple over it.

I love how the layered stencils come together. I tried it first with a lighter color as the background and then the dark color on top  but I realized that it was too hard for the eye to read the background pattern that way. Always fun to play around with stencils and see how far and different you can push them :)

Wish you a Rock ‘N Roll day !!!
