Art Fusion at the InkPad in NYC – Photos

NatKalbachArtfusion

Last week my friend Birgit Koopsen visited me from The Netherlands. Birgit and I have been teaching together in Europe quite often and last year we organized our first Art Fusion Event in The Netherlands. This year our event was hosted by The InkPad in New York City and we had a great time with our students at Westbeth last sunday.

NatKalbach_ArtFusion01

Birgit taught a Mixed Media Canvas Class using Acrylic Paints and I taught an Altered Book Class using Acrylic Inks, Paints and Markers. Birgit worked with her new wonderful stamps and I was able to see my new Stencils in action :)

NatKalbach_ArtFusion02

It was so much fun. It was a very colorful day and we had a great time with our super talented students!

NatKalbach_ArtFusion04

Look at all those gorgeous images they draw in their altered book class!

NatKalbach_ArtFusion03

Thank you to The InkPad for having us and thank you to Liquitex for providing the acrylic media for the class! I am missing Birgit – but who knows – we might be up for something next year ;)

……

If you live near or in NYC – why don’t you join me next Friday, October 10th 2014 from 7pm-9.30 pm at The InkPad for an Art Journal Class – Artvergnugen with Photo Transfers

NatKalbach_ArtvergnugenAd

There are only a couple seats left – come and join us. I will show you some fun ways to do Photo Transfers and how to incorporate them in your Art Journal.

You can see all other in-person workshops I am teaching this year here.

Have a gorgeous day

CREATE Dallas Photos

CREATEDallas_01

I had a great time last weekend in Dallas teaching at the CREATE Mixed Media Retreat. I taught 3 classes: “It’s All About the Layers- Art Journal”, “Encrusted Shrubbery- Canvas” and “Texture Heaven-Art Journal”. We used loads of fun Liquitex goodies- thank you Liquitex for the wonderful goodies I was able to give away!

CREATEDallas_02

I also brought my new stencils – that I just released and it was so much fun to see them used for the first time- wohoo!!! And there was a lot of hands on paint moments :)

CREATEDallas_03

It was great to spend so much time with my students in the day classes- and we laughed a lot…especially about my wrong doings in using “Y’all” …I guess “You’s” is wrong in any event in Texas- LOL

CREATEDallas_04

It was also wonderful to see some of my fellow teachers and friends at the event- we had a lot of fun in our “Liberace-Hotel” (that’s an insider for everyone who was there and a little side note about the hotel interior ;) )

Thank you to all my students- you were awesome and fun and super creative! A special shout out to Bill – rock on man!!!

If you are in Seattle – I will be teaching at the CREATE Seattle event coming up next month. I will teach four workshops

CREATESeattle

So excited & I just can’t hide it! Liquitex Acrylic Painting Sets

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets03

Wohoo- finally I can share. I am so so stoked that Liquitex included some of my art work on four of their new Michaels Acrylic Painting Sets. I am sure some of you might recognize quite a couple familiar images :)

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets04

As you know I am a huge fan of the Liquitex Products and use them for a couple years now because I really love how the products emphasize my artwork and because they are innovative and fun and make me create out of the box! So thank you Liquitex for asking me for some artwork :)

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets01

I have not seen the finished sets in the stores yet myself as I have no car and Michaels store in walking distance but my friend Meike from Texas sent me those pictures- so much fun!

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets02

They all contain the yummy Liquitex acrylic media needed to do the techniques themed on the box as well as a technique sheet inside.

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets05

Here is what is in them: Spray Paint & Texture

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets09

Collage & Photo Transfer

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets07

Pools, Puddles & Drips

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets08

365 Days of Art

NatKalbach_LiquitexMSets06

They are so much fun to work with – if you use them I hope you will share some pictures- but in any event shoot me a picture if you found them in your area – I would love to see :)

Thank you for letting me share my giddy news and for your support !

Have an AMAZING day!

designed by n*Studio features: Riikka Kovasin

One of the things that make me really giddy is when I spy someone using my new stamps by Stampendous or also my Stencils with StencilGirl Products :) So I thought once in a while I would feature the work of those wonderful talented people with a new Series called: designed by n*Studio features:…..

And today I feature: Riikka Kovasin

I met Riikka several times online and offline as my student in my Mixed Media classes and it has always been a delight to have this super talented girl. I love what she did with my stamps and templates so without further ado..here is what Riikka has to say and show herself :)

me

Hello there! I am Riikka Kovasin. I’m a mixed media style scrapbooker from Finland. I adore getting my hands into paints and mists! To me the process of creating is equally important than the finished page. I think that scrapbooking is a form of self-expression and I’m creating pages partly because of that and partly because I want to document our lives to my two children.

nat2

I was fortunate enough to meet Nathalie during an event by her and Birgit Koopsen in the Netherlands. There I got the chance to see her stencils live and bought myself one of them. I immediately fell in love with the crackle stencil and now I only regret that I didn’t get other designs, too! I’ve used the stencil in several projects already and my husband was inspired by it when he was designing his guitar. In these projects I used it to make an embossed piece of vellum.

nat2d1

I like how versatile the pattern is and how you can create a subtle effect with it or go bold. It goes perfectly to vintage style, but can also be used in modern ones!

nat1

When I first saw Nathalie’s stamp designs I knew I had to get some! They are so perfect for backgrounds and layering! They’re unique in their designs and have a lovely mixed media feeling in them.

nat1d2

I love the circular designs and my absolute favorite is the stitched style circle.

nat1d3

And who wouldn’t like something extra – I love the fact that all the sets include a stencil, too!

nat3

I used the extra stencil in the other layout to create the background and the “Wired” stamp set in both layouts and the cards.

nat3d1

Thank you so much Riikka, I love how you used the Crackle Stencil on the vellum and the beautiful colorful way with embossing powders you used the stencil in the Wired Stamp Set as well as the Stamps. Gorgeous!

Here are the n*Studio products that Riikka used:
