Stockholm Scrap and Pearl Event – April 6-7, 2013

So happy to announce that I will teach at the Stockholm Scrap and Pearl Event in Sweden.

It is a Scrapbooking and Jewelry Making Convention, wheret 1,000 crafters can be seated each day!

The place is nothing less than the Annex at the Globen Arena. So excited. I will teach 3 Prima workshops

April Saturday 6: Portrait of a Lady

Always wanted to learn how to draw a portrait? Join Nathalie Kalbach in this fun DIN A4/Lettersized Canvas Workshop and learn how to draw a portrait in a short period of time. You create a Portrait in your favorite colors and make it a one of a kind home decor item either for yourself or as a beautiful gift.  Furthermore you will learn heaps of Mixed Media techniques with gesso like: how to create a background, add texture, stamp, paint and use it for altering. Learn how to use fun fine art paint media like the Derwent Artbars, how to layer and tie elements together and explore how to change up embellishments and make them fit your unique piece of art. And the best? All the techniques can be used easily in future Mixed Media and in Scrapbooking Projects.

April Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 (this class on Sunday is fully booked) : Be Awesome Be a Book Nut

Dr. Seuss knew it: there is something magic about books. Each book is a beauty in and of itself – a story that leads you into a new world of fantasy. Books also have a feeling of importance to them, such as with a fabric coated hard cover or just the paper itself.

But sometimes a book loses its fascination and ends up at a flea market or at the back of your bookshelf never be opened again. Why not breathe life back into those books again and fill them with your own stories? You can alter them in a way that these treasures bring unique joy back.

Nathalie Kalbach will show you how to create either a funky or a simple style altered book. You will learn beautiful folding techniques, such as ways to create pockets for treasures or hidden messages that go along with your story. You will learn how to use adhesive in unexpected  ways and learn fun embossing techniques. Accompanied by beautiful Prima paper, flowers and stamps, this book will be a personal keepsake or a special present to a loved one. What’s more, it can function not only as a mini album but also as a home decor item.

You can sign up here. I would love to see you :)

Have a wonderful day

Hugs

nat

Scrappies Wellness Wochenende – Workshops in Altötting, Bavaria – Germany

As this is in Germany and the workshops will be in German (although I don’t mind and will ALSO talk English during classes – done it before in two languages ;) )  – I will post this in German :)

Scrappies Wellness Weekend – April 26-28, 2013

Wisent and Elk or….n*Studio Day Recap

Last Saturday we had an n*Studio day – first one of the year with workshops.

nstudioday02

It was a small but cozy group and it was wonderful to start the new year with a workshop like this.

nstudioday05

I love doing workshops with  “my girls” .

nstudioday03

Having a group of people who come regularly to your home is precious.

nstudioday04

This time we did the Über*Media Acrylic Paint Class (mini version) and the Altered Book Workshop Be Awesome Be A Booknut.

nstudioday01

We laughed quite a lot too, seriously weird when you taught classes several times in English and then you can’t remember German words for certain tools all of a sudden-…LOL

nstudioday07

the other side of the table looked as concentrated ;)

nstudioday08

Fun books they brought…like “Wisent and Elk” ;)

nstudioday09

and the results were fab

nstudioday10

Thanks girls for the fab day! My schedule for spring is coming soon -.

Now I am packing and I am leaving tomorrow for CHA. I am looking forward seeing some friends, see the newest “stuff” of the industry . I will try to post some sneaks in between here – and maybe I am allowed to show some of the CHA Projects soon too ;) – first let’s see how I can cram them into the suitcase – LOL.

Have a gorgeous day and huge hugs

Nat

New Online Class Series: Über*Media Project Class

ProjectClasses500

I am pretty excited :) Besides the technique based Über*Media Classes I will start offering a range of beginner and intermediate Über*Media Project Classes in the next months. From Minialbums to Canvases to Altered Art, there will be a lot different fun mini video classes . They will be all about an hour-long and you will learn a variety of techniques shown directly on a project.

And here is the first one…

MixedMediaBook_blog

MMCbook01_500

In this one-hour long video workshop, I show you how to create a fun, little canvas album that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. You will learn some easy-peasy techniques with acrylic paint and spray inks. Using cardstock and canvas fabric as a surface, you’ll create a modern, funky album. And all this for about $6.90 USD in supplies (assuming you already have the paint products and basic tools).

This is a perfect project for anyone who wants to start learning mixed media without purchasing expensive materials. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get the mixed media technique bug after this workshop!

MMCbook02_500

How this workshop works:

  • Once you signed up and payed via paypal, I will send out the log in information for you. Please note that this can take up to 3 business days since I have to send this out manually and I’m traveling sometimes.
  • You can work at your own pace and the workshop will be available here for you for years to come as long as they are online.

Supplies and Tools you will need for this workshop:

  • 2-3 sheets of 12 x 12 inch white cardstock or several pages watercolor paper (about 1.20 USD for 3 Sheets)
  • 2 sheets of 12 x 12 inch Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas  (about 2.40 USD for 2 sheets) or loose canvas fabric from the art store, treated at least on one side with gesso
  • 3-4 colors of Acrylic Paint – I like a bit heavier bodied paint- but thin paint is fine too – so whatever you have in your room (less than 1 USD you will need in total of those paints)
  • 2 colors of spray inks – I used Ranger’s Dylusion Sprayinks, but you can also use other water based sprayinks (less than 1 USD you will need in total of those paints)
  • black journaling pen for example Letraset Fine Liner
  • paper trimmer
  • scissor
  • crop-a-dile or japanese screwdriver or a big needle to make holes
  • ribbon (0.30USD) or muslin or bookbinding rings
  • double-sided adhesives – I use Crafty Power Tape by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (less than 1 USD)
  • heating gun – optional
  • crafting mat or freezer paper
  • watermister – optional

You can sign up here for the cost of

8.99 US-Dollars (about 6,90 EUR).

I hope I will see you in one of my classrooms :)

have a wonderful day
