NEW Stencil Designs! December 2019 Release

Today I am releasing 8 new stencil designs with StencilGirl Products and am very excited to share them with you! You can check them out now in my Online Shop.  I’ve been playing with them for the past month and I just love the diversity of the group – some art deco fan stuff for you pattern lovers, abstract stuff for layering and texture, and more Mid Century motifs because we love modernism :)

Here are the new designs – hope you are as excited as I am to create with them!

First up is Art Deco Empire – I’m showing it here oriented upside down because I think it can work either way and I love how it kind of looks like crowns here.

Next is Art Deco Summit – A nice mix of pattern and solid shapes that I think is perfect for creating a balance of color and open space.

Here is Art Deco Fairview – another that I am showing here upside down to show how you can use it either way. Love this pattern.

Art Nouveau Wallpaper is another that mixes pattern and solid areas so you can really play with color here.

Kyoto is a fun mix of abstract marks that can oomph up your mark making in backgrounds and such.

Tokyo is a more energetic field of marks and again, really awesome for backgrounds.

Space Age Modern is a funky cool modernist pattern that is another fav.

Finally we have Signals – a field of abstract pattern that is ideal for backgrounds, layering, and creating visual texture.

So I hope you take a look at all the new stencils in my shop – it is an interesting mix of styles, shapes, and patterns – something for everyone :)

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 10

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 10:

This week’s prompt is Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” . Loved playing with my Kassel Stencil since I felt that would fit the best with the lyric part I picked.

For the first pink layer I used acrylic paint over the stencil and then for the second layer I used spray paint.

For the figure I used oil pastels – still love playing with them, it is so satisfying to play with this creamy intense colorful medium :)

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 9

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 9:

This week’s prompt was Hotel California by The Eagles. I had fun playing with my Manhattan Stencil on a small gelli plate – using the plate to stamp into the art journal.

I sketched the figure over the background and then painted him partly in with Inktense Blocks- I love how the stenciled areas areas creating a pattern and texture for the clothes.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 8

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 8:

This week’s prompt was Beautiful – Christina Aguilera . The lyrics are awesome- as to the music…well by now you might have guessed I am a total grunge-rock-alternative kinda girl. LOL …but hey …I am in here ;)

I used my Broadway Stencil with some ink pens – I was in our new house waiting for a contractor and this was what I stuffed in my bag and thought “make the most of this, a journal, a 4×4 stencil and three pens” and there you go:

I actually plan on doing this more often – just pack a really limited amount of stuff and see what happens. It was really fun to do – easy but occupying and as you can tell since it was finished – the contractor was late.  All in all better than a coloring book ;)

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 7

You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 7:

This week’s prompt was Counting Blue Cars – Dishwalla

A song I never heard before but I found the lyrics interesting yet again. I was in a very bold color mood and used my Exchange Place Stencil on the left with Acrylic paint and the Flower Maze Stencil on the right page with acrylic spray paint.

A little sketch and very limited painting on top – I actually like this- I want to explore this a bit more.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 6

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 6:

This week’s prompt was Alanis Morissette – Thank You. That one was tough – neither do I like the song- LOL- nor did the lyrics really do it for me- but I found a small part of the lyrics and I pulled them out :)

I used my Santa Fe Stencil on top of a really messed up background. I sprayed in white over the Stencil and I love how it made the otherwise already dull looking colors pop again.

I love how crisp the spray painted stencils sets off the textured grungy background.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 5

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 5:

This week’s prompt was Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven.

I added a bit to the lyrics ;) You know Led Kalbach – yeah stupid joke LOL

For this art journal spread I spray painted in grey over my Toledo Stencil and then layered the Beacon Stencil on top and sprayed with pink and beige as well as purple over it.

I love how the layered stencils come together. I tried it first with a lighter color as the background and then the dark color on top  but I realized that it was too hard for the eye to read the background pattern that way. Always fun to play around with stencils and see how far and different you can push them :)

Wish you a Rock ‘N Roll day !!!

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 4

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 4:

This week’s prompt was She Used to be Mine – Sara Bareilles – another song I am not really familiar with …I do have a very grungy, alternative music style- but it was fun to listen to the music and use part of them.

For this Spread I started by using my Mesa Verde Stencil on top of a partly painted background and spreading a thin layer of Heavy Gesso over the stencil. Using a palate knife makes sure you can apply the gesso pretty evenly.

After the gesso dried I layered my Granada Stencil on top and used spray paint to create a second layer – i love how the two stencils work together. I used the Millie Stamp from the Actually I Can Stamp Set on a piece of tissue paper and then added it to the background with Fluid Medium. This way I could make sure to still see the background shining through but was also able to add the stamping regardless of the texture.

Added the journaling and there it is. Here are some of the supplies I used:
