There is something that makes me happy about a small little gift tag :) Here is one I created using some metallic color and teal with my new Downtown Stencil.
Love the pattern and border you can create with this stencil. I filled in the free space with my Numeral Stamp – another favorite of mine :)

I used my new Exchange Place Stencil with Black gesso and added a cut out from a magazine. I painted over her with acrylic paints and markers.
For the journaling I used some self adhesive canvas .
I am working to do more things again that make me forget my phone. How about you? :)

“Gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears” – what a wise quote :) – Not mine unfortunately I didn’t see a name attached to it.
this spread started out with a mono printed page and it somehow reminded me of a One Thousand and One Night Scenery so I picked the Star Struck and Santa Fe Stencil to build up on the theme.
I used a calligraphy pen to write the journaling and added some white on top of it.
some pencil marks and some additional “houses” and done. I had fun with this.

Love how the sky and the trees are mostly created with small little brush marks while the buildings and ground is differently painted.
Lyonel Feininger, Spring – 1936 – oil on canvas
Loved seeing this and Erbslöh painting close to each other since they had the same title – and depict houses but yet so different.

I love love love this earlier Feininger – it still has a feel of collage and architectural drawing to it which I like better than the more advanced cubist painting before.

They’re all fabulous in their own way, but I particularly liked Max Beckmann, Portrait of a Rumanian Woman and Adolf Erbslöh, Spring 1909.
And what was up with Max Beckmann’s fascination with women and cats?? I had to know, so through the magic of the Inter-web, I found an article on the website “The Great Cat”: https://www.thegreatcat.org/the-cat-in-art-and-photos-2/cats-in-art-20th-century/max-beckmann-1843-1950-german/ Apparently Max thought women were similar to cats in promiscuity and domesticity. Meow!!

Time for a Stroll Through the Hood . Strolls through my hood get me out of my studio, they help me unstuck and often I get inspired by what I see and to get new ideas to create something. It is part of my philosophy about Artful Adventures in Mixed Media – which is the subject of my book. Here are some photos that I gathered in the last couple weeks.
I love sunny fall days- and when I step out of the house I love how the old pencil factory looks in the morning sun
This scene made me laugh hard when I was walking to pick up our CSA box. Hilarious!
We went to the library for some research and I love the stair case
also the cool iron gate with its track in the marble landing – so cool
Speaking of our building, I still wonder who and why those little faces were put into the column. I have never seen this anywhere else so far -any ideas? I wonder if it was kind of like a joke by the masons or if it was supposed to keep evil spirits away or something else- LOL
We had the annual Downtown Jersey City Market and my friends offered these really cool cookie jars. I am still sad I didn’t get them , but then …there is also only so much space in our apartment.
First pumpkin sighting of the month
And…my favorite Art Supply store around the corner moved …”Eat the Rich” is the message they left behind – I am sad. The building will be torn down and another “luxury” apartment building will go up in its place. At least the art supply store is staying in business but I loved walking by and buying my stuff there – support small business guys …preach it and do it.
Brownstone galore …also …see the sidewalk ..not good for your ankles …I sprained my ankle- oh well..
I do love all the iron work on those brownstones- this was just newly painted
Look at Bobby Pretzel seeing Sun Flowers for the first time of his life …Niles looks at me as if to say “This whipper snapper is soooooo ridiculous” hahahah.

I think that I saw little faces in a building like yours in a horror movie. It was something like the souls of the people who died when making the building “trapped” inside. Sorry but that’s how I remember it.
Love the brownstones. They are my favorite part of visiting Boston.

Sometimes my art journaling is indeed influenced by current events and it is therapeutic.
The day I created this journal spread I was gutted, and sad and I still am.
Today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to all the women and men out there that endured something like this : I Believe You!

East Choir of Halle Cathedral is my favorite by far. It just begs me to look at it again and again.
