Photos of the Workshops in Oklahoma

As always I had a fantastic time at My Heart’s Fancy in Oklahoma. It was my third time teaching at this wonderful store and Maura makes my stay always most enjoyable.

Friday morning we went to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. It was an interesting visit and

I definitely learned more about kettle branding and barbwire when I ever thought was there to know :) 1000s of different ways to make barbwire -who would have known.

Friday evening I taught my “Stroll Through The Hood” and it was a colorful and fun class for sure.

Using my RubberMoon Stroll Through the Hood sets and other stamps some gorgeous city plates were created.

Maura had stocked up the store with all kinds of fun goodies from the n*Studio – so fun to see!

On Saturday we were diving into the Magic of Acrylics – exploring and playing with all kinds of different acrylic media.

Look at all those happy faces!

And …funny faces ;)

Lots of abstract canvases were created in the second half using the newly discovered magic of the media used in the first half of the class.

Loved to see abstract 4th of July Canvases and all kinds of other colorful artwork.

My favorite of coming back to stores is seeing familiar faces – I love my students!

hahaha- sorry Andi – I had to slip this in again – it made me laugh so much.

On Sunday it was all about “What’s Cooking” an art journal class to discover your style and get the right recipes for your art journal pages.

I loved how different all the pages looked like and I loved the outcomes reflecting each student’s taste.

Playing with pattern, texture, contrast, color and so much more

Ah happy pattern bliss

I had a wonderful time and loved the creative time together! Thank you all for coming and I hope I see you soon again !

If you missed this class and you would like to take an In-Person Class with me -check out where I am going next  – I will be coming to Southern California and Florida in September, to the U.K. in October and to Maryland and other places in November.

Nathalie was so much fun and her laugh is enough to make you smile . If you notice most of the people were smiling even when they were unaware of the camera. We all had a lovely time and made some gorgeous art. I cannot wait to go back again in July to My Hearts Fancy. I hope Nathalie will come back in 2018 to visit Oklahoma. Perhaps there will be time to take in the Dale Chihuly art glass on exhibit at the OKC Museum of Art, it is the largest permanent collection owned by a museum according to the docents.

I’m super excited to be teaching 3 workshops at Scrapbooking Forever in Westlake Village in Southern California:

September 9, 2017, 10:00am – 6:00pm: Artvergnugen – Art Journaling Workshop

It starts the moment you sit down, an experience that is distinctly art journaling. A quick exhilaration, a sense of control, the art media’s surprising responsiveness as if they were simply an extension of you. There is a word for this creative experience: Artvergnugen! Artvergnugen is what makes your journal a piece of art. Join me and play with different art media and supplies; discover fun layering techniques with stamps, stencils and acrylic paints. September 10, 2017, 9:00am – 1:00pm: Walk With Me – Altered Book Workshop

Walk with Me and give an old and maybe discarded book a new colorful life. Learn fun stenciling, stamping and book altering techniques, how to draw when you can’t draw and use the book as a wonderful substrate to create a beautiful keepsake. September 10, 2017, 2:00pm – 6:00pm: Master Art Express – Art Journaling Workshop

Imagine you could take a trip through Europe and at each stop one of the many masters of European art would materialize and invite you to explore their art to implement into your art journal. Let’s take this imaginary trip together and explore different European artists at each station, taking their artwork as an inspiration for mixed media techniques and colors. We will discuss why some things work and why some things don’t work and will solve the little “problems” that sometimes occur while creating art. Artiscape 2017 in Ohio – Photos

Last week I went to Ohio to teach at Artiscape, a 3-Day Mixed Media Workshop Event. I taught three classes “Artvergnugen- Artjournaling” “Walk With Me – Altered Book” and “Master Art Express – Artjournaling” and the classes were filled with such delightful and talented students- I had so much fun!

Look at all the smiling faces and colorful backgrounds in the Artvergnugen class. (Artvergnugen – the pleasure in creating Art :))

In “Walk With Me” we gave old books a new live using their initial book soul – loved the different takes of students incorporating bits and pieces of the book to be part of the art like the title or drawings in the book.

Oh and Joe – I still owe you a quarter for saying John …maybe next time? ;)

In “Master Art Express” we took the Orient Express to stop at different stations and meet some Master Artists and got inspired for some out of the box approaches for art journaling.

We trully made the dull looking hotel conference rooms sparkle with color…and laughter :)

I truly loved every single moment of the classes and in between the classes there was a lot of great opportunities to stock up on art supplies for mixed media work at Joe Rotella’s store and also the vendor fair. Where else do you find a bucket full of “appendages” LOL

It was also great to catch up with some artist friends like Jen Crossley and MaryBeth Shaw and to meet some other wonderful teachers, like Glenda Miles, Cheryl Strait and Cindi Bison-Mc Gee.

And ohhh looksie some of my RubberMoon Stamps in the store – wohooo.

It was wonderful to meet Klara again who was also at my workshop at Color Crush two months ago – always the best to see students again !

It was a relaxed and great event and I hope I can come back some time.

Thank you to all students who come and made this such a wonderful experience and thank you to Lisa and Joe for having me and putting together such an amazing event. It was truly an Artiscape!

If you missed out on this event and would like to take a class with me – check out my In-Person-Class listing to see where I am at in the next couple weeks.

Have a gorgeous day!

Mono Print Painting Fun

Next Thursday my sweet friend Birgit Koopsen is coming from the Netherlands and I cannot wait to see her. Besides some girlfriend time and sightseeing we are also teaching several workshops together, one is a Mono Print Painting class  at The Ink Pad in

NYC  on March 18th, based on a technique we came up with after we went to see the H.N. Werkman exhibtion when I visited her in the Netherlands.

I wanted to incorporate some of my class samples in an art journal and here are some samples of what I was doing last week.

The cat below is of course inspired by Klee :) and I picked up the Manhattan Border pattern in the print on the lest side with the Manhattan Tile Stamp.

I am kind of liking the idea of incorporating the prints which you do not want to hang on a wall or else into the art journal …you see some really raw experimentation with this here :)

This is the stare in my face I wake up to in the morning …ah the joy of being a cat owner- LOL

This one was of inspired by Matisse – the left is the Mono Print Painting using the Versailles Stencil and on the right you can see the smaller pattern with one of the Versailles Foam Stamps.

It is really addicting to play with those Mono Print Paintings and Birgit and I have heaps of techniques to apply to them – and you get two teachers with different ideas on this :) There are still some seats left- so if you are in the NYC area- join us for this Mono Print Painting Class March 18th or the Artful Transfers Class March 19th …or even both (special price) !

Have a wonderful day
