Back for Classes in Toronto – February 7-9, 2014

February 7-9, 2014 I will be back again in Toronto, Canada for some fun creative classes. Always such fun being at Bizzy B’s and having the greatest time.

Texture-Journal-WS

Friday Feb 7 – 7pm to 10pm

Unleash your creativity while learning how to make the most of your art tools and mediums- including Nathalie’s signature stamps from Stampendous a. Develop a small art journal filled with fun colorful techniques, textures and print layers to be used as a reference tool for later mixed media and scrapbooking projects.

NatKalbach_ArtvergnugenAd

Saturday 8; 10.30 am – 4.30 pm :

It starts the moment you sit down, an experience that is distinctly Art Journaling. A quick exhilaration, a sense of control, the art media’s surprising responsiveness as if they were simply an extension of you.

There is a word for this creative experience: Artvergnugen ! Artvergnugen is what makes your journal a piece of art.

Join Nathalie and play with different art media and supplies. Learn techniques, tips and tricks to take your art journaling further and turn it into Artvergnugen.

Encrusted-Shrubbery

Sunday 9: 11am-5pm:

To say it with Monty Python “First you must find… another shrubbery! Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place it here, beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get a two layer effect with a little path running down the middle. (“A path! A path!”) Then, you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forrest… with… a herring!”

We will create a wonderful home decor canvas using my Signature Stamps and Templates with Stampendous and create a kind of a piece of art…and that with loads of paint and other media just without a …herring.

To book the class please call at Buzzy B’s – more information about the classes, prices, supply lists- here

12 Days of California Part I: Prima Art*Venture

NatKalbach_ArtVenture11

I am back from my 12 day long trip to California – it was insane…as in insane work and fun! Well…always good if you can combine both words fun AND work. I am exhausted but nonetheless I want to share some events along the trip- let’s start with the Prima Art*Venture Workshop Retreat. 160 students – 2 days- six workshops – fun…and a toast voice.

NatKalbach_ArtVenture02

We set up the class rooms till late night the day before the event – look at all the class kits:

I taught a Wallhanger Class with the new Stationer’s Desk Line by Prima – here is the project and some details

I had a great time with the wonderful students attending the classes – from all over the country and also from Europe and Asia- so amazing!

160 Students- 160 different ways to create the wall hanger- here are just two:

It was fun spending time with the other teachers and friends from Prima including Sharon, Carrie, Anna, Steffi, Jamie, Limor and Frank as well as Denny who did such a fab job on organizing the event. Thank you also to Elena and my two wonderful helpers Cam and Lisa from Charity Wings– you girls rocked!

(last picture stolen from Sharon ;) ) I did not take that many photos – I am missing most of my sweet people- but oh well- LOL- sorry ;)

Thank you all – also for taking care of me when I got food poisoning or whatever it was what made me sick and dizzy at the end of my fifth class – I am glad I was able to at least finish the instructions and laying down for half an hour in between really helped me to be able to go through the rest of the day and last class.

Tomorrow I will tell more about my class at CHA and the debut of my stamps with Stampendous :)

have a gorgeous day

Give The Gift Of Creativity

Gift20

Only 6 days until Christmas. Need a gift for a creative artist or crafter? You can now give someone a gift certificate to CJS 2014.

Just select the “$20 Gift Certificate” product in the n*Studio shop and check out online. (/shop/gift-certificate/20-gift-certificate/) On the billing and payment page, you’ll find a section to name the person you want to give CJS to. Just enter their name and email address along with a personalized note.

The recipient will then get an email from n*Studio that includes a discount code for anything in the n*Studio shop. If you want to give the gift certificate to the recipient personally- just have it sent to you and you can print it out.

All they have to do then is add Creative JumpStart 2014 to their cart and checkout using the code. And voila, they’re in!

I will also add other gift certificates later today with different values if you want to gift one of my online workshops in the shop.

Wishing you a wonderful day

hugs

Do More of What Makes You Happy or….The InkPad Workshop

NatKalbach_InkPad01
I taught a class called Über*Media Backgrounds at The Ink Pad in New York City. It was a bit different in format as I did this class in two parts- the first part was at the end of October and the second yesterday.

NatKalbach_InkPad11

The first part was dedicated to creating with all kinds of background techniques and making your own paper for an later art journal. It was loads of fun.

NatKalbach_InkPad09

We used lot’s of different media

NatKalbach_InkPad14

NatKalbach_InkPad03

and played a lot with my StencilGirl Product stencils

NatKalbach_InkPad12

NatKalbach_InkPad08

NatKalbach_InkPad06

the second part was about layering and taking the backgrounds even further and of course finally using them – in this case for an art journal

I had a blast and loved the colorful creations of the girls. I also like the concept of an ongoing class – it gives you so many possibilities and is a great way for everyone to deepen the learned stuff and then take it further. And on top- I met “my girls” again . This might be something I will be doing again ;) – who knows ;)

What kind of classes do you prefer: One time and in person, on-going and in-person, online and just a short block or an ongoing online class?

Have a gorgeous day

WOW! What fun Nat! It would be So Cool to be able to create with you- therefore I’d like an ongoing face to face! When can we schedule it for?!! LOL Wish we had somewhere around us that you could come teach at- no privately owned stamp/scrapbook stores within 75 miles from me :(
Seriously, I would prefer face to face with instructor, on-going for sure or ongoing online. Thanks for sharing with us! hugs xo

I like both online and in person. I’ve only had in person once! It was a few weeks ago in Charlotte when Julie taught there. I loved doing it live with the teacher’s inspiration right there. But there is something to be said for taking your time in your own studio, pausing when you need to and rewatching when necessary. I’d love an ongoing class.

I prefer online classes as i can enter the classroom whenever i want to check and/or refresh forgotten details. There are so many techs, that is impossible to remember all!…Thanks for your time, Nat!

Be Awesome! Altered Book Class

Dr. Seuss knew it: there is something magic about books. Each book is a beauty in and of itself – a story that leads you into a new world of fantasy. Books also have a feeling of importance to them, such as with a fabric coated hard cover or just the paper itself.  But sometimes a book loses its fascination and ends up at a flea market or at the back of your bookshelf never to be opened again. Why not breathe life back into those books again and fill them with your own stories? You can alter them in a way that these treasures bring unique joy back. Nat will show you how to create either a funky or a simple style altered book. You will learn beautiful folding techniques, such as ways to create pockets for treasures or hidden messages that go along with your story. You will learn how to use adhesive in unexpected ways and learn fun embossing techniques. This book will be a personal keepsake or a special present to a loved one.  What’s more, it can function not only as a mini album but also a home decor item. Please bring an old book, double sided tape, colored embossing powders, scrapbook papers, ruler, pencil, sharp box cutter, trimmer, scissors, and stapler.
Instructor – Nathalie Kalbach
From: 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Cost  $40.00

Please call the store (732-745-1000) during business hours, or email info@scrapperscove.com to reserve your space.

I hope I will see some of you there!

Cannot wait!

Huge hugs

Nat
