Today – Art Journal

“He said: “There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow. So today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live.”

The red/pink part of the Art Journal spread was done with some mono printing on a gelli plate. I used my Downtown Foam Stamp onto the plate and love how the pattern came through.

I painted part of the spread over with black gesso and once dry stamped on top with the Versailles Stamps from my Large Floral rubber stamp Set. For the white I used the second white pad in the Moonlight Duo Stamp Sets. So cool – once the white is dry it is permanent and it is pretty opaque as you can see.

I really love how this turned out – there is something about the grungy look of the monoprinted part and the black and white that just speaks to me.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 18

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 18

This week’s prompt was The B-52’s Love Shack and I love it! Super fun and great video so I was inspired to really play up some bold patterns and colors with this one.

I used acrylic paint over spray paint with my Downtown stencil and my Toledo foam stamp. It’s an energetic song so an energetic background here.

My Oldtimer stencil was a must for the song, and then I repeated the Downtown pattern with my foam stamps. ” I got me a car, it seats about twenty, so come on and bring your jukebox money !”

Same Moon – Art Journal

“Always remember we are under the same sky looking at the same moon”

The background started with some mono printing with a gelli plate. I had taken off the magenta acrylic paint with my Hexagon Foam stamps.

I added the beautiful washi tape with the moon and stars . The blue paper is actually a strip of scrapbooking paper which I created for a french Company many many years ago.

I also used my differently sized Hexagon Rubberstamps and stamped with white onto the background. Love how this came together. Here are some of the supplies I used:

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 17

This week’s prompt was Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp. I pulled some of the lyrics into my art journal and a photo I found at a flea market.

“And he said: Life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone…” I don’t know about that – I’ll get back to you when I get that old! :) Here I used my Far Out foam stamp with some embossing powder and a wash of acrylic ink over top.

Here is my grumpy old man lol, my Chicago stencil with Distress Inks for the pattern, and my Fanfare stamps on the tape.

and my thoughts :)

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 16

This week’s prompt was I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2. I’m a fan of U2 and this is one of my favorite songs by them so no problem finding inspiration here :)

I sketched a figure using a Fude pen and some caran d’ache museum aquarelle pencils – literally watercolors in pencil form and so fun and vibrant.

I used my Lily Wallpaper stencil with spray paint and then also added my FAN-tastic Large and FAN-tastic Small stamps in yellow ink.

I like the push and pull of the background through my coffee drinking gal. Imagine she’s deep in thought, wondering if she will find what she’s looking for :)

This week’s prompt was Say Something by A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera. I’ve definitely heard this song before but it’s not my typical style of music. BUT… that doesn’t mean it can’t be a jumping off point for creating :)

I had fun sketching the figure with pencil and Inktense blocks by Derwent – I love the transparency I created with a wet brush afterwards.

Let’s not forget about the background – I used my Buenos Aires stencil with spray paints and then added a stamp from my Small Hex set and a stamp from the Fan-fare set. I’m super happy with how they work with the stencil.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 14

This week’s prompt was Landslide by Fleetwood Mac – a song I definitely like, especially if I’m ever in a melancholy mood.

I thought it would be interesting to represent the lyrics with a bit of layered pattern, that comes and goes. I used my Hamburg stencil for the main background, along with my Chicago stencil and also stamped my Space Oddity rubber stamp from the Small Hex set.

I went a bit introspective with this one, thinking about people coming and going at different points in your life, and the impact they leave on you.

Bridges of Choice – Art Journal

I saw this quote on instagram and I really liked it . “I cross bridges of change with joy and ease. I don’t know how to change – I just have to be willing to change. The Universe takes care of the how.”

Of course it is not always THAT easy- but I think I do like change and I have an instilled confidence in me that things will work out.

For this spread I used my new large and small Hex Rubber Stamp Sets with ink .

I stamped the positive and negative stamps on top of each other- I just love the dimension this gives.
