Where You Find Light – Art Journal

Here is a another art journal spread using the hand carved stamp I showed in my Creative JumpStart 2019 class video ( you can still join us if you want – lots of fun tutorials). Here I inked it up with black archival ink

and used it cut apart as shown in the tutorial. I also used it with my RubberMoon Rubberstamps – I love the mix of hand carved and hand sketched next to each other.

I painted the stamped images and the background in with acrylic inks and acrylic gouache and added the journaling with a white sharpie. Love how the colors glow.

Here are some of the supplies I used for this spread:

Truly Yours – Art Journal

I used two hand carved stamps on this art journal spread and if you are part of Creative JumpStart 2019  you recognize especially the right one because I showed how to make it in my lesson and some printing ideas.

For this spread I used some Moonlight Duo Ink pads to ink up the stamps and then I cut out bits and pieces with a craft knife.

I love the effect . The pages on the next side I sprayed with some spray paint and then did some journaling.

I loved using the stamps in a different way and to try something different. Whatcha think?

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 3

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 3:

This week’s prompt is “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls”   and I love the part of the lyrics which says ” I want you to know who I am”

I used my Downtown Stencil and sprayed with a nice teal color over it. Something about this stencil always screams teal and gold to me and so I also added some gold Gesso here and there and then used Neopastels to paint the face on top.

I love that the gold gesso actually resisted the pastels a bit  I assume because of the texture and that is peaks out here and there in the face -nice happy accident :)

Here are some of the supplies I used besides some acrylic paint:

Discuss Ideas – Art Journal

“Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people. ” Eleanor Roosevelt

Loved playing with my new ArtFoamies  and creating a pattern using the Far Out, Funky and Gnarly stamps.

I sketched the lady with some acrylic ink on a piece of deli paper and then added it with gel medium to the background.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 2

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 2:

This week’s prompt was ” Please Come to Boston” by David Loggins. I honestly never heard the song before-mhhh? But I liked the lyrics “she just said, no boy – why won’t you just come home to me”

I don’t use yellow a whole lot and with the winter weather here I felt like I should go right into this sunny color and ha- it was great. I used it over my Exchange Place Stencil  with yellow spray paint. I named the stencil after the Path station here in Jersey city, which carries people through the Tunnel to NYC. I love the lines and circles in there and somehow that made it the perfect stencil for me for this quote – traveling – coming home – taking some sort of transportation.

I used my ArtFoamies Exchange Foam Stamp with some acrylic paint underneath- the pattern is smaller then the stencil but it works well together – and I love how the purple and yellow look- nom nom.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 1

Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils.

This week’s prompt was Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody – such a great song! So many great memories – how about you, do you have special memories when you hear the song?

I decided to choose a Freddie Mercury quote and create an image of him on stage – he definitely wasn’t boring that is for sure :)

I used my Hamilton Stencil on the right with some acrylic paint and then added also added to some areas parts of my Van Vorst Stencil.

I painted Freddie with my new Liquitex Gouache colors which.

Here are some of the supplies I used besides regular acrylic paint:

If you play along and post on social media- use #thestencilfiedjournal so we all can find your work! That would be so much fun!

One of my favorite songs ever!
Reminds me of singing in the car with friends when I was a teenager and then again when my son was younger and he and his friends sang it with me. This song will live on forever since it’s just that good.

I also used a lot of different stencils and Acrylic paint s well as Gesso and Acrylic Ink- love the distressed look.

A New Adventure Begins – Art Journal

“…and so…a new adventure begins…”

I am excited for the new year …yes still LOL

I used a magazine image and painted over with my neopastels- I love doing that when I am a bit lazy painting my own image- and the neopastels are just soooo yummie ….

I used different stencils with acrylic paints and gesso to create the background – stippling paint through the stencil and taking paint off through the stencil as well.

Besides acrylic paints and gesso, here are the supplies I used:

My Home is My Stamp – Art Journal

“Home is where…Safe meets Love meets Memory meets Friends + Family Meets Good Feelings meets All the good vibes. ”

I hope you are enjoying Creative JumpStart as much as I do  – you can still sign up btw!!! In my video which was up on January 2nd, I showed how to create a big stamping plate and different printing techniques. Besides the prints I created also this art journal spread. It was super fun – I used two different stamping plates as well as my favorite Moonlight Duo Ink pads to stamp the different colors and then I added some acrylic ink in some areas.

I love the look and I actually also love the colors which are bit unusual for me :)

Have a wonderful day!!!!
