Thinking too much – Artjournal

“I think …I think too much….” – No seriously- LOL.

Played with my new Diamond Hex Foam Stamp –

love how this turned out with the light color on the dark background.

actually I am pleased with the hole color combo – it just kind of came together and I played with different green tones as well when I painted the lady and the table – and then I loved how it popped off the page :)

Here are some of the supplies other than acrylic paint that I used:

I care – Do you? Art Journal

“Human morality is unthinkable without empathy” …

This spread is a couple weeks old – as my art journaling is part of my thoughts and emotions when I create the spreads everyday news get their way into it too. Sometimes hidden, sometimes as here pretty obvious.

It is a chaotic and kind of ugly page …just like the whole topic this is revolving around.

I thought a bit about posting this spread, but being quiet is not an option anymore…

Love this. Says it all. Beautiful work as always. My friend was just talking about how we cannot be quiet.

Not sure what was on your mind, but it fits with my current thoughts on the POTUS. (sadly)

Space Oddity – Art Journal

Yes.. I did crank up Space Oddity by David Bowie while making this spread. Music – such an important part of my life – I love playing music while painting.

I used some off white Acrylic paint with the new ArtFoamies Space Oddity stamp – gosh I love it.

I painted over an magazine image which I do a lot as it is easy peasy and also helps practicing drawing faces and figures.

Do you listen to music when you do something creative or do you need a super quiet environment?

Knowing the Author – Art Journal

“I trust the next chapter because I know the author!” – love it…if only it was true- hahahahah ;)

I used my brand new Diamond Hex ArtFoamies stamp and rolled acrylic paint on top before stamping it.

I used less amount of blue paint on the stamp and I love how the foam stamp then reveals so much texture and dimension. That is what I love about Foam Stamps- the texture you can create with it makes pattern so much more interesting or me!

I added some journaling and dots with a calligraphy pen and some marks with a soft pencil.

Always a Flower – Art Journal

Loved making some color swatches into my art journal with some new acrylic paints and then using a variety of my stencils on top of them.

I do love those new colors – there are not my usual style but I wanted to get something that gets me out of the box :)

I also love the quote! This was a quick and easy journal page to play with paint and stencils.

I like those colors together as well. Great quote and definitely out of your usual color comfort zone Nat.
Thank you for another inspiring post.

1,2,3,4,5 – Art Journal

I wanted to share this art journal spread I created using my new Clam Hex Foam Stamp in detail. I stamped the alternating the direction up and down in every row. I just love how versatile this stamp is and how many different patterns you can create with it.

For the numbers I used my letterpress wood stamps and inked them up with different ink, then rubbed a piece of paper on it, cut it out and pasted it with gel medium into the art journal.

That was fun – now repeat tomorrow ;)

When I saw this work, I started singing the Beatles’ song “All Together Now”. Now it’s stuck in my head and maybe it will stick in your head, too. :-)

    One, two, three, four
Can I have a little more?
Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, I love you

    A, B, C, D
Can I bring my friend to tea?
    E, F, G, H, I, J, I love you …

Build a Door – Art Journal

If opportunity doesn’t knock build a door ….yeah that is a good tip but sometimes easier said than done, no? LOL

I covered up most of the background on which I had shown all kinds of different techniques in a class with my Batik Stencil I used spray paint over it. I then covered part of it up for a doorway and pasted a magazine image on top which I overpainted.

for the journaling I simply added some paint stripes and then journaled on top of them. I do that a lot when a pattern is so prominent that the journaling is hard to add – an easy solution.

Here are some of the supplies I used for this spread.

Watch Me – Art Journal

I can and I will. Watch Me!

I like this quote :) This is a page that started as a demo page at my workshops in Kentucky where I showed different techniques – I always love turning those pages into a finished spread.

some sketching with ink, stenciling and stamping

covering with gesso and taking away gesso

fun and quick.
