Snake Bite Kit ArtJournal Page

Natkalbach_SnakeBite01

I love this color combination – it was kind of an accident but a happy one – when I was just playing with different templates and stamps of my Stampendous Stampsets while in California.

Natkalbach_SnakeBite02

It is a rare journal page of mine with lot’s of journaling but I just felt like it in that moment :) And the title? It is a sentence I used in my journaling and that I heard in Australia when I checked in into a hotel “The snake bite kit is in the kitchen, Mate – no worries” I thought that was hilarious – time to use this phrase ;)

That is the beauty of an art journal- you can do with it whatever you want- quotes, lot’s of journaling, no journaling, just a title, symbols- it is yours – no rules! It is your art journal: OWN IT!

Here are the stamps and supplies I used:

“The snake bite kit is in the kitchen”…a phrase that I’ve never heard. LOL
While working in my art journal this morning I thought to myself “who would enjoy looking at these pages?”. Kinda bummed out I realized that I loved looking at them and creating them and isn’t that who they are for. Silly me.

Elephant Collages or…how to play and transform

NatKalbachCollages

Last week I was playing with some collages for the upcoming workshop where I will co-teach with my sweet friend Julie Fei-Fan Balzer at The InkPad. The class is sold out – sorry – there is a waiting list.

NatKalbachPlayCollage01

As you might know I love elephants- hence the Elephant stencil I created for Stencil Girl Products.

NatKalbachPlayCollage02

I played with lot’s of paint and also the What’s The Point Stencil here as well as with some of my new Stampendous  stamps.

NatKalbachPlayCollage03

And with mostly the same materials I created this collage – which looks totally different

NatKalbachTransformCollage01

I used also Jamie Dougherty’s beautiful Bloom Girl Stamp in the collage- can you see where? :)

NatKalbachTransformCollage02

That was fun – I am going to do more of those. I mounted both on a wooden canvas – which was a tip by Julie.

Which one of the two do you like better?

Here is a list of some of the things I used

huge hugs

LOL Congrats that your Ink Pad class is sold out! Maybe you’ll come down to NC or VA, closer than the Ink Pad and I’d be there in a flash!!

Love colors of play best, but overall I like transform. The elephants eye is closed in play and that just looks more restful instead of playful…unless he’s playing hide & seek.

Nope I didn’t see the doll stamp, I did like how it looks like they have rough skin though.

Both are fabulous in their own way. I love the details and the bloom girl stamp in the elephant on Transform. But my eye is immediately drawn to the Play canvas each time I look at them. I think its because of the more subtle details in the elephant and background and the softer colors. Very pretty!

Wow, I didn’t notice the stamped image for what it is until you pointed it out. Very clever use of it. I am more drawn to the one on the left…PLAY because of the colors. I really like when you use these colors in your art. The pink is just too bright for me even though I do like the title of TRANSFORM. Kinda amazing how you can get such different results using the same materials.

    Nice work, Nat!
I like the “play”-painting better because of the colours. The pink one is a little too bold for my liking.
Bit as I like elephants really much I would take both of them and hang them to my walls :-))

Quirky J.C. or Mish Mesh Stamp Set

Let me share another layout I did with the third of my sets of  my signature stamps for Stampendous! for CHA

NatKalbach_QuirkyJC01

For this layout I used my Mish Mesh Stampset:

MishMesh MishMeshBack

It comes with a free template which I used here and there with yellow.

I started out with some mono printing using the new Stampendous! Creative Palette – stamping into it with my stamps and then using the two colored stamps on cork. I cut out the cork circles and added them tot he layout. I applied Stampendous Aged Embossing Enamel on top of the letters – I love how you can grunge things up with it – also added some yellow acrylic paint on the letters to repeat the color.

The sight where they sell these tires was one of the first ones when I visited Jersey City for the first time last year and hahhaa- you bet I thought that would be a good spot to live if they have stores like that ;)

want to know where my stamps arrived so far? – I started a list of the stores carrying them – so check it out. If you stock them as a storeowner let me know :)

Here are the supplies I used with this Layout:

Simply BOLD or…Grunge Stampset

This is another layout which I did for the Stampendous! CHA booth to showcase my new Stampset Grunge.

NatKalbach_Bold01

I know….pretty unusual for me, right? I do love the simplicity though- as my emphasis was on my word of the year: BOLD – I needed a statement like layout ;)

I used as said the Grunge Stampset

GrungeNatKalbachGrungeTemplate

and the included free 2 piece template.

NatKalbach_Bold02

I used the stamps and the template with acrylic paint – my favorite way to use stamps and those stamps are just perfect for it.

Here are the few supplies I used:

Always Half Full or…Wired Stampset

How about, I start sharing some of my projects I did for CHA for my brand-new Signature line of stamps with Stampendous! ? It was lot’s of fun creating this layout:

NatKalbach_Alwayshalff01

For this layout I used my Wired Stamp set:

WiredNatKalbach_WiredBack

It comes with a free template which I used behind the photo

NatKalbach_Alwayshalff02

I had stamped with Gesso on white card stock – let it dray and then added Liquitex Acrylic Inks with a cosmetic sponge and also by dropping it down the top.

NatKalbach_Alwayshalff03

I also used the stamps embossing with Stampendous Aged Enamel – love the 3-D Effect.

I will show you some more projects and techniques over the next weeks with my stamps – also I will share some projects other people including the wonderful Stampendous Design Team did with my stamps. If you want to know where to get my stamps– I started a list of stores here – and I will add as I get notes from Stores that they arrived. If you are a store owner and carry my stamps- please let me know -so I can add you :)

12 Days of California Part II: My Stampendous Stamps Debut at CHA

NatKalbach_Stampendous04

Seeing my own stamp designs and my photo at the Stampendous Booth was sooooo cool.

NatKalbach_Stampendous05

I came into the Convention Center a little bit before my class started and took a peek at the booth…(the show wasn’t open to the public yet)

NatKalbach_Stampendous06

I was all by myself and I was looking at this in disbelieve- it honestly felt unreal as if the alarm clock would ring the next minute to make me wake up and realize this was just a dream. Instead my alarm went off that I would have to run to my first CHA class ever- 50 Retailers – waiting to play with my Stamps and other Stampendous Products.

NatKalbachCHAClass

It was a fun class- and after an uncomfortable two seconds realizing that someone hung a microphone on my clothes “FREAK- I never had a mic while teaching” I got the hang out of it, as I already started loosing my voice after teaching the last two days six classes at ArtVenture. I was also happy to see some familiar faces from either working together before or students that took my ArtVenture Class- that was fun!

NatKalbach_Stampendous01

Teaching Retailers is definitely different. A lot of my students in this class did not come because they love Mixed Media- but because they wanted to get educated in Mixed Media and learn about it because they realized there is a huge demand for it in their stores. It was a very different approach in this class when my usual let loose and get creative.  I enjoyed when some of them that never played with paint told me they liked it a lot and get their costumer love for it :) Right on ;)

NatKalbach_Stampendous02

And btw not every teacher at CHA as a good friend like JumpStarter Joe Rotella who comes with a chef hat into your class to deliver lunch because he knows you never eat right at CHA ;) Thank you Joe- that made me laugh so hard…too bad I had a mic – my already loud laughing must have scared my students a lot – LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous03

I learned a lot  by teaching this class and hopefully there will be another opportunity for a CHA class in the future. I loved seeing my stamps being used – it made me all giddy :)

NatKalbach_Stampendous14

NatKalbach_Stampendous15

NatKalbach_Stampendous16

NatKalbach_Stampendous17

NatKalbach_Stampendous18

NatKalbach_Stampendous19

Thank you Liquitex, Speedball,  May Arts and Imagine Crafts(Tsukineko) for sponsoring my Stampendous Class!

NatKalbach_Stampendous09

I demoed also a couple days at the Stampendous booth…until I lost my voice totally – but hey…I sounded really interesting- LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous10

NatKalbach_Stampendous20

And I loved having friends over and Cindy Bundy from the Stampendous Designteam showing me her sample

NatKalbach_Stampendous11

Thank you to all of you who took my CHA Class and came to see my demos ! Thank you also to the awesome Stampendous Staff who did such an amazing job behind the scenes and helped me during and after my classes!

I am going to add a list of the stores that cary my stamps to my website here soon – they are already available and I know some stores have them already in the house :)

More about CHA and which trends I observed will follow :)

have a gorgeous day

Unleash Your Creativity or…Why I have been biting off my tongue

It has been an insane year already with the move overseas and if you are waiting for an email…bear with me – I am drowning in emails, setting up a cozy home, workshops and … I have been biting off my tongue for many months now because…I have also been working on a huge secret project..which is tied up with something else…and here it is …Can you spy the bigger news that are included in this already (big for me) announcement?

NatKalbach_UnleashCreativity

I am so thrilled and it was hard to not tell anyone…but the biting is not over ;) I so cannot wait to show you the designs when it comes closer to CHA. They are so me and I am very excited about them. Thank YOU my readers for your encouragements over the last years and support – without you, this would have never happened. I have been dreaming of this FOREVER and as some of you know I have been VERY close once to this a couple years ago but alas…it wasn’t supposed to be. But this time…it is – I am holding my babies in my hand already  :) If you are a retailer and interested in taking my class sponsored by Stampendous and Liquitex at CHA – you can sign up starting today November 12th (the CHA website crashed when the registration opened this morning- so they have to fix this)! All others…don’t be sad, there will be lot’s of fun coming up the next months :)

Sending a super big hug with a huge almost-around-the- face-if-not-there-were-ears-smile on my face to you

Nat
