What Makes You Different – Art Journal Page

I made this art journal page with my new 9×12 Hamburg Stencil which was inspired by my hometown Hamburg in Germany.

The “H” in the pattern refers to the city abbreviation of HH for Hansestadt Hamburg, and is found on license plates in the city.

I used grey spray paint over the stencil laid over a previously painted background

For the journaling I used the ArtGraf Varco sticks- which I love love os much and then went over the writing again with a wet brush to move the pigments.

The magazine image was painted over with some acrylic markers and pencils.

Here is a supply list for the spread

n*Studio + StencilGirl present: Wanderlust Stencils

I am super excited about my new stencils coming out today with StencilGirl Products – and as they are all inspired by my travels – I called this collection Wanderlust – a german word meaning “a strong desire to travel” which pretty much sums my urge to discover new and foreign place up :) All Stencils are now available in my shop!

I will show loads of projects with them in the next couple weeks- but hey- check in today for my Facebook Live Event – Kaffeeklatsch with Nat at 3pm EST on my n*Studio Page . I will talk about what inspired them and show some art journal pages with them already and you can ask me questions and be live on board :)

Hope you like the stencil and I hope to see you later today!

Dream a New Dream – Cheiron Brandon

Hello friends! Today Cheiron Brandon from my Creative Squad is sharing a very happy art journal spread using my Manhattan Positive and Negative Foam Stamp set and this month’s theme: Dream a New Dream. This January, let’s focus on all the possibilities of a fresh start.  What are your dreams for this year?  Whether it’s art-making, family, travel, or work related, January is a great time to dream about what the future could hold.

Hi there! It’s Cheiron here with my January post, and this month is all about Dreaming a New Dream. I always love the start of a new year and the chance to set goals and recharge.

For my project today, I created an art journal page with some of my dreams and goals for the coming year. I used Nathalie’s Manhattan Positive and Negative ArtFoamies stamps to create some printed deli papers to use as part of my journal page. I love making black and white papers to use with really bright paints.

I then layered on some paints in bright fluorescent colors…don’t they make you happy?

I finished up my layers by adding more paints, some dripped fluid paints and some splatter.

I topped off the page with cut out hearts in black and added some word stickers to the hearts. I applies Distress crayons in various colors around the hearts and blended them in with my fingers, then added another layer of white splatter to the whole page using a splatter brush. Fun, easy page and a great way to think about what I want to accomplish for 2017!

Here’s a closer look at all the yummy color:

Thank you Cheiron! I always love the fun colors she uses and this one really makes me feel happy! In addition to a die cutting machine, Cheiron used these supplies – some links are affiliate links:

Play along with us! I love to see how you interpret our monthly themes. Email me how you used my stencils and stamps with the theme and email me an image – I would love to share your projects in my “n*Spiration From Around the Globe“.

365 Opportunities – Art Journal

Love this – so uplifting when you think about it, right? 1 Year = 365 Opportunities. I used my new Cardboard Stamp Set for this art journal spread. I stamped the background with some of the stamps and then painted over some areas with acrylic paint and gesso to push them back.

Then I stamped over the painted areas again with different ink pads and repeated the steps.

I stamped some of the stars onto formerly painted deli paper and cut those out and applied those with Matte Medium.

Love the look of this – it is a fun way to create a background with a lot of visual texture.

Here are some of the supplies I used for this art journal spread – some links are affiliate links:

Wishing you a gorgeous day!

Jumping with Pam Carriker – A Video Conversation

A couple days ago I had a great chat with Mixed Media Artist Pam Carriker. We talked about why it seems that a lot of Mixed Media Artists decided later in life to become artists, what a day in the life of Pam looks like, why she loves to combine wet and dry paint media and her thoughts on how substituting art supplies adds a little bit more of you into your work.

I need to reach you on your email but I don’t have your email address. Could you please send it me? I still cannot log in. It does not recognize either my ID or my password. I really need help to be able to attend the Mayfair workshop. Could you possibly help me find a way to start over with my account
    and change it?

    Thank you for your help.

Dear vicki you did not seem to have ever signed up for the class! If that is indeed the case you simply have to purchase it and sign up and create new user account when you check out . If you have purchased the class and my assumption you haven’t is wrong contact me through the contact form let me know your transaction number or order confirmation number, so I can help you from there! You are talking in one of your comments about a “Mayfair ” workshop ! I am not sure if you might be onnthe wrong website? This is Creative Jumpstart not Mayfair. Hope we can sort it out but not through comments!

Love Tag

This grungy love tag was created using my new Embroidery Stamps. I scraped off some acrylic paints and white gesso to a big shipping tag with an old gift card to get a weathered look. After the paint dried I stamped with several of the Embroidery Stamp Set stamps with archival ink.

I stamped with the Love Tag Stamp from the Stroll Through the Hood set onto a piece of left over canvas and then fringed the edges and applied it with Gel Medium to the tag.

To enhance the tag a bit further I added some embroidery by using the stamped imagery as a guide and trigger for the different stitches.

I love how the flat stamped embroidery and the dimension of the actual embroidery play together.

Here are the supplies I used for this tag- some links are affiliate links:

Do you incorporate stitching or sewing into your projects?

Have a beautiful day

Peace – let’s work on it -Art Journal

Peace is my word for 2017 – I wrote about it here and as every year when I chose a word, I wanted to create an art journal page with it. I used my new Stroll Through the Hood Stamp Sets und stamped all of them right on top of the background. In fact …I had just gotten them and tried them out to be honest :)

Then I used some Golden High Flow Acrylics and scraped them with an old gift card over the stamped images. I love the highly pigmented and bright look and how it still allows for the imagery to look through.

Using the Artgraf Varco Charcoals I wrote the word Peace layering several colors on top of each other and then wrote over the word with a wet brush.

I also added some of the Charcoals here and there without adding water to keep the vibrancy and also the texture they create.

The journaling was added with a soft pencil.

I had so much fun making this spread.

Did you create something using your word or resolution for 2017?
