Played with paint and my palette knife- sometimes the most fulfilling way to create texture and lay down color. I love those colors together.
I stamped a border with my Blocks Cling Rubber stamp.
Here are the supplies I used:
She remembered who she was and the game changed.
I spray painted the background in red, then spray painted orange on top and while the orange was still wet I laid down my Beacon Stencil and then lifted it right up. Love the texture and bright color.
I cut out some painted deli paper and made some marks and circles in blue and green colors and then added the journaling.
It was a quick and easy page to make but I do love the outcome a lot.

Time for a Stroll Through the Hood . Strolls through my hood get me out of my studio, they help me unstuck and often I get inspired by what I see and to get new ideas to create something. It is part of my philosophy about Artful Adventures in Mixed Media – which is the subject of my book. Here are some photos that I gathered in the last couple weeks.
I know I have posted photos of this view from Liberty State Park several times- but for me it just doesn’t get old!
Here is a newly painted tower at the edge of the park by Mr Mustart.
Kind of in the hood – a little stroll on the Highline early in the morning – what a great time to be there – and seing a little glimpse of a mural by PixelPancho.
And on the walk to the subway a mural by Osgemeos – I love the pants- they are made off all kinds of different flags.
In the East Village this awesome door – love the patterns, the hair, the writing :)
Close by the former Adath Jeshurun of Jassy Synagogue, which I believe now has artist studios in it – I hope it is not just abandoned. What a great building.
In the Bowery a Shepard Fairey – I love how the wall is decaying and the purple paint underneath is crackling through again.
And in Jersey City this mural by Nychos
On a construction wall around the corner a paste up by Dylon Egon
And of course…as I am such a dork for elephants …and btw- this has been a block from my place for a long time – how did I miss it so far – by Mr. Prvrt
And last but not least my new fire red bike with which I am strolling through the hood a lot this summer. As you can see I found a piece of drift wood on the water side on that tour, so of course that had to come with me ;)

My friend Kim and I had our monthly play date and we decided to oomph up some ceramics.
Since succulents are growing on my deck like crazy we thought taking some and planting them into some fun planters for the window sill, would be a great idea
And we also found this darling set of vases.
We used different colors of Staz On ink which is great for slick surfaces. Just don’t forget, you can still rub the ink off. The great think about the cling stamps is that you can bend them quite nicely to cover rounded areas.
We stamped with different themes of my RubberMoon Stamps – here you see some of the Embroidery Set. It is a bit tricky to get the images onto the slick and not straight ceramic but if you have a wet rag handy, you can wipe off any oopsies quite fast and without anyone ever knowing ;)
for the vases I wanted to go really plan and simple and use grey looking Staz On and my Stroll Through the Hood Sets.
The vases had some bumps and those caused some interrupted areas,
which I could easily fill in with a fine permanent marker.
The Planters coming sets of three offered the possibility to create four different themes given the four sides of their form.
I chose one side to stamp with the Hydrant and Mail Box Stamps in black and then colored them in with some glass and ceramic paint markers.
And here you go – some different sides and options to display our new planters
Kim used all kinds of green tones on her planters- love the outcome
and I decorated all sides differently so I could display according to my mood- LOL ;)
And my favorite those vases for which I bought some cool flowers – I am totally in Love with those. And it was so quick and fun.

Lots of times my husband and I do a little bicycle tour in Jersey City, either through the neighborhood or Liberty State Park. Recently we set out on the hunt for some murals we haven’t seen yet.
I like this one by Sam Pullin aka Bed Bugs in Love. It shows the Golden Record aboard the Voyager. Sam is a JC local and I am always excited when I see work by him because I know him :)
Emilio Florentine created this mural called “Turnt Up” . On his website it says “His paintings are based on the belief that natural beauty is heightened during chaos. By using impressionist and surrealist techniques, he exploits, tortures, and then paints his subject – the flower – at its tipping point”
This mural was huge and impressive and also on a really amazing building. The Peach Tree War by Distort. While we were looking at the mural we met another couple also checking out the mural and we agreed that all those different murals in Jersey City are an amazing reason for a bike ride . It is so much fun to go on the hunt for them.

I hope you had fun on this Art Stroll to see some Murals in Jersey City. I hope to show you another part soon …but since my husband’s bike just got stolen, that will have to wait a little bit (sniff).

“We must bring our own light to the darkness!” I love this – I forgot where I heard or saw it but it resonated with me.
I was playing with some new acrylic paints and added some marks by scratching into the wet paint and stamping with rubber stamps as well as found items on my studio desk.
I like the unbleached titanium white peaking through the blue and white a lot – I need to revisit :)

BTW, I started to read your book while on vacation and took lots of pics looking at sculptures on an outdoor tour and went back to the cottage and did a mixed media page based on the inspiration that I got from one of them.
I don’t think that the art based on a specific inspiration “clicked” for me before reading your book.
