Things will work out – Art Journal

Love how this one turned out- see it all works out ;)

I used my new Broadway Stencil and with a Distress applicator I added some Distress Oxide ink through the stencil. I used different colors.

For the right page of the spread I applied some Distress Oxide ink with the applicator, then washed the applicator out and while the foam was still wet, rubbed lightly over the stencil

which resulted in a nice subtle pattern – love this!

I painted with some artgraf charcoals on top and added some gouache here and there.

I added some journaling with the artgrafs into the openings on the left and used a thin wet brush to go over to desolve it a bit.

I love how this turned out. Fun to play with those Distress Oxides.

Best Days – Art Journal

“What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet.”

I painted the background with some copper, magenta and white paint

and stamped some marks using some stamps from my Embroidery Stamp Set.

I transferred a photo to the background and painted with inks and gouache over it.

Love the words! The colors are great together as well Nat.
It strikes me that there are no longer colors that I think of as “your colors” anymore…you use them all!

Move On – Art Journal

Lately I wonder why I have wasted so much time in my live worrying about what other people think. I am glad I am at a stage where I move on :)

I used my new Van Vorst Stencil with  green and teal Spray paint on a copper and gold painted background.  I painted the lady with acrylic paint and gouache.

I love my new Van Vorst Stencil …the floral design makes me happy and green and blue on copper and gold always reminds me of old buildings ..hey you think I am weird? Well …LOL

Here are some of the supplies I used for this spread:

Interesting thought Nat. When I hit 40 I found I can’t much less about what others thought.
Once I hit 50 I must say that I pretty much don’t care at all what people think.
As long as I’m kind and not hurting anyone, I do what my spirit moves me to do.
Which includes singing in public and saying hi to all dogs that I meet on the street (much to the embarrassment of my teenage son).

Deep thinking – Art Journal

A bit simpler art journal spread  using my new Flower Maze Stencil with  spray paint.

Ink sketch on deli paper and some writing.

It was a fast art journal spread to get some thoughts down. Not a bad thing when you are in a time crunch :)

I love the dotty, spotty, spritzy effect you got with the spray paint. And of course you used my FAVORITE hex shape! Does the paint clean up easily?

Get it – Art Journal

“Ask for what you want and be prepared to …get it”

I started out the background playing by stamping the Space Oddity and the Mini Oddity Stamp with acrylic paint on top of each other which I liked very much.

I then added a layer of green and yellow ink over it- which I liked a lot as well- but the two stamps are almost too subtle now. I love that I now know though that the two on top work great and are a fun way to add a new pattern as well.

I painted the lady with loose brush strokes and black acrylic paint on top – it was a fun page to play and try some different things. And that is what an art journal often is about for me- trying and playing and just going along.

Don’t stand still – Art Journal Spread

We cannot become what we want if we remain to be what we are.

Using the new Star Struck stencil I dabbed a cosmetic sponge in different colors of acrylic paint and then pounced them through the stencil.

I sketched the lady and painted her using watercolor and gouache.

I really like how this turned out – I really have to do more with watercolor and gouache.

Decay – Art Journal Spread

I see beauty in decay, because I see beauty in what was, what is and what is yet to come. Isn’t that such a freeing and exciting way to look at things?

I used my new Downtown Stencil over a background which I had painted and also adhered masking tape too.

I love the pattern – well yeah —-um I am partial I guess ;)

Do you find beauty in things that are showing age or decay?

Yes I do, as long as it’s not me. LOL
Especially decaying trees and old remains of stone/brick buildings.
I like to imagine the lives that they’ve had!

Be Positive – Art Journal

“Be positive, patient and persistent”

I used my new Maiko Stamp from the Actually I Can Rubber Stamp Set and stamped it on a piece of painted and stamped deli paper. Then I cut it out and pasted it to the background with fluid medium. It is such a fun and easy way to add a colorful focal point to an art journal spread.

For the background I used my Clam Hex Foam Stamp and rolled with a brayer different green tones on top and then created a pattern.

And last but not least I also added the “Actually, I can ! ” Stamp from the set with the same name .)

Thinking in Circles- Art Journal

Thinking in Circles- ughhhh -…LOL. But I had fun making this art journal spread using some of my new and old Rubberstamps.

I stamped the background texture with the Torn Layers Stamp from my Cardboard set and then stamped on top in red with the positive and negative Circle Drive Stamp from my Large and Small Circle Jumble Set.

I stamped Millie from the Actually I can set on top of a piece of deli paper on which as you can see, I had stamped before and also used some left over paint on. I do that a lot and use the deli paper as collage elements. I cut out the image and then adhered it to the spread with gel medium using a layer underneath and on top of the deli paper to totally fuse it into the background.

Added some journaling and to brighten things a bit up I added some yellow to the blouse with a marker as well as some sprinkles by taping on the marker.

This was fun. You can find my rubberstamps in my store – and here are some of the supplies I used for this spread:
