Shade – Art Journal

“You’ll never shine throwing shade!”

I built a background using the Park Ave fan from the Fantastic Large stamp set. Then I muted it with some thinned out gesso.

I sketched the person and then painted over with some acrylic paint. I really like how loose I was with sketching and painting the jacket. Time to shine!

Waiting – Art Journal

For this one I chose some stanzas from the poem Mayakovsky by Frank O’Hara.

Here I stamped with my Sold Fan Small and Fanfare rubber stamps using Moonlight Duo inks. I filled more of the page with the pattern, but sometimes you need to edit. So I came back in with acrylic paint and gesso and covered all but this section up.

I went back in with some more pattern here. All in all, a fairly straightforward page, highlighting some poetry that I am currently digging.

Perfect is Overrated – Art Journal

“Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful!”

I used my pencil eraser for a dot stamp – a simple trick. My pattern includes the Grove Street stamp from my Large Circle Jumble set, the Fairview stamp from the Fantastic Small set, and my Fanfare stamp set.

A look at my background.

Then I added my figure sketched and painted with acrylic paint, ink, and a fude pen on deli paper.

Goals – Art Journal

“I didn’t come this far, to only come this far!”

I received the Scribble Sticks set 3 as a thank you for playing along in the Ranger Designer Challenge in January. I wanted to test them out with my foam stamps. Here is my Funky foam stamp getting a bit of blue…

I wet the foam stamp back and applied the scribble stick and then stamped for the blocks of color. I did the same with the front for the designs.

Here is my Groovy foam stamp design.

Here is a bit of my Gnarly and my Jazzed designs. I loved the colors in this new set – they work perfectly with these foam stamp patterns.

Pretty interesting effect with the back of the stamp too – nice texture. And who doesn’t need a bit of motivation to keep going for more?

Love is Love – Art Journal

Love is Love is Love

I stamped out a rainbow flag in my art journal using a whole bunch of my rubber stamps – they are all in the links below. I’ve been really into using colored ink pads since I got the Moonlight Duos. They work great with my rubber stamp sets and if you remember to clean your stamps in between colors you can get really clean colors.

I finished the page with my Love Knots and Star Tag stamps, and my message with a Fude Pen.

Good Mood – Art Journal

“The most important decision you will ever make is to be in a good mood.” – Voltaire

I used my Ink Splat Mixed Media Chip here with golden gesso to make a nice thin area of texture on my page.

In the background I used my Far Out foam stamp and my Mini Batik Pattern 1 foam stamp with acrylic paint.

If only it were that easy Voltaire :)

As Barry Neil Kaufman says, happiness is a choice.
I LOVE these colors together Nat.
The textured gold “dots” are delightful!

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 24

This is the final Stencilfied Journal post. My wonderful friend Tina Walker invited several people to join these prompts. The prompts were all music related and each week she posted a song. We drew inspiration from the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related to the song- the only restriction was to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 24

This final prompt was a free song – your favorite song – tough one as I have a huge variety of songs I like and a bit of a grungy alternative rock taste- but one song I always loved and once in a while listen to is Love by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

I covered up the area for the journaling – and then layered my Santiago and Chicago stencils on top and sprayed and stamped.

I love how my Small Floral Tile rubber stamps fit nicely into the squares of the stencil.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 23

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 23

This week the song was Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf. This is definitely a classic, so I pulled some lyrics and then added my own thoughts :)

I used my Hamilton stencil for the background, with spray paint, then ink and paint on top.

I traced some fan shapes using my Fantastic Mixed Media Chip, and also stamped my Broadway Fan stamp from my FANtastic Large stamp set.

Most Important – Art Journal and Mixed Media Chip Tips

“How unique to this human experience that we all just wish to be the most important thing on earth to someone else.” – Tyler Knott Gregson

I used acrylic paint with my new Hexastencil Planet Earth Mixed Media Chip to create my background.

Then I came back and stamped with my Hex Set Large rubber stamps – they are just the right size to work together.

Mixed Media Chips are made of chipboard – here are some tips for helping you give them a longer “life”.

Brush some gel medium on both sides, let dry, this seals it for a bit so you can play with it a bit longer.

Add some artist masking tape around the edges to make it easier to use as a stencil too- you can remove it later.

You can use it as a stencil and line it up for a continuous pattern – makes for great color blending and layering.

And best of all, this hex chip works with my rubber stamp sets.
