The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 13

My wonderful friend Tina Walker is at it again – she invited several people to join her Stencilfied Prompts. The prompts are music related and each week she is posting a song. You can be inspired by the lyrics, the video, the album cover or anything related and the only restriction is that you have to use StencilGirl Product Stencils. Here is my take on Prompt 13

This week’s song is Smooth by Santana . I loved the image I found in a magazine that shows a woman in a lawyer/judge rope …and well ….let’s say “you don’t need a reason for reason …don’t be a ****head” came to my mind

I used my Hamilton Stencil on the left with Acrylic paint and then stamped also with my Mid Century Squared Foam Stamp. I love how those two patterns come together even though they are so different …. wouldn’t it be great if that would work in real life like that too?

This week’s prompt is “Jackson” Johnny Cash and June Carter. You gotta love Johnny Cash and June Carter …but hotter than a pepper sprout?

Are they hot too? LOL- anyway I spray painted over my Santa Fe Stencil as well as over my Flower Maze Stencil .

I used also some older prints of mine …because hey …do birds know that pepper sprouts are hot? LOL – Questions over questions …told you I am a weirdo ;)

Bridges of Choice – Art Journal

I saw this quote on instagram and I really liked it . “I cross bridges of change with joy and ease. I don’t know how to change – I just have to be willing to change. The Universe takes care of the how.”

Of course it is not always THAT easy- but I think I do like change and I have an instilled confidence in me that things will work out.

For this spread I used my new large and small Hex Rubber Stamp Sets with ink .

I stamped the positive and negative stamps on top of each other- I just love the dimension this gives.

This week’s prompt is “Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin. A good reminder to live in the now and to not use too many rainchecks ;)

I used my Van Vorst Stencil as well as my Hamilton Stencil and created the background by using Distress Oxide Inks with the stencils.

Love the soft chalky look.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 10

This week’s prompt is Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” . Loved playing with my Kassel Stencil since I felt that would fit the best with the lyric part I picked.

For the first pink layer I used acrylic paint over the stencil and then for the second layer I used spray paint.

For the figure I used oil pastels – still love playing with them, it is so satisfying to play with this creamy intense colorful medium :)

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 9

This week’s prompt was Hotel California by The Eagles. I had fun playing with my Manhattan Stencil on a small gelli plate – using the plate to stamp into the art journal.

I sketched the figure over the background and then painted him partly in with Inktense Blocks- I love how the stenciled areas areas creating a pattern and texture for the clothes.

The Stencilfied Journal – Prompt 8

This week’s prompt was Beautiful – Christina Aguilera . The lyrics are awesome- as to the music…well by now you might have guessed I am a total grunge-rock-alternative kinda girl. LOL …but hey …I am in here ;)

I used my Broadway Stencil with some ink pens – I was in our new house waiting for a contractor and this was what I stuffed in my bag and thought “make the most of this, a journal, a 4×4 stencil and three pens” and there you go:

I actually plan on doing this more often – just pack a really limited amount of stuff and see what happens. It was really fun to do – easy but occupying and as you can tell since it was finished – the contractor was late.  All in all better than a coloring book ;)

This week’s prompt was Counting Blue Cars – Dishwalla

A song I never heard before but I found the lyrics interesting yet again. I was in a very bold color mood and used my Exchange Place Stencil on the left with Acrylic paint and the Flower Maze Stencil on the right page with acrylic spray paint.

A little sketch and very limited painting on top – I actually like this- I want to explore this a bit more.
