JOMO – Art Journal Page

I like JOMO – the opposite of FOMO. I need more joy instead of fear of missing out this year :)

Played a bit with my Van Vorst Foam Stamp Set but also the Van Vorst Stencil to create the background.

Are you content missing out on things or are you always nervous to miss out?

Here are some of the supplies besides Acrylic Paints that I used for this spread:

Peptalks – Art Journal Spread

Yeah – let’s give ourselves more pep talks :)

played with some heavy body paints and gesso as well as stencils.

Love the texture and also the color mix :)

It was a good spread to just play mindlessly around and then go back to work on the Creative JumpStart 2019 Classroom! Don’t miss out on the Early Bird Price!!!

At the Corner of Good and Bad – Art Journal

I had a lot of fun with this spread. I carved a big stamp of a building close by here in Jersey City with a mural by Shepard Fairey and used it for bags I made for the holiday market. But then of course I also wanted to use it in my journal.

I printed on a page that I had previously used as a “clean up” page and then painted over the tamped images with acrylic paints.

I added some hand drawn imagery and some of my Stamps as well

I love the contrast of very clean and fine line stamps and then the bold hand carved stamp. And all the texture – actual and optical that I created with brushstrokes, and spray paints.

That was fun :)

Be Gentle – Art Journaling Spread

“Only the gentle are every really strong” James Dean

Oh handsome James…aren’t you right – swoon. I played with my Mini Hex Foam Stamps and got my inner pink out

Love how foam stamps create texture – actual and visual – used with acrylic paints. One of the many reasons why I recommend actually cleaning them :)

You Have The Power – Art Journal

“You always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.” – Wizard of Oz

I guess I am already ready for spring – I wish I had the power to make it come fast ;) I played with different green acrylic paints and my Buenos Aires Stencil.

I painted the lady with acrylic paints and added some scribbles using pencils and pens.

Some mark making in pink for some color pop – this was fun to make.

Besides acrylic pains I used the following:

Let it Flow – Art Journal Spread

“Fall in Love with the pieces and the results will come. Let it flow!” – my creative mantra :)

Sketched and painted with some acrylic paints and acrylic inks – I just wanted to see how I liked painting with some thinner paints and acrylic inks- it is a bit challenging and I do like parts of it -the way it makes the colors really pop due to the translucency – but I do miss my texture.

Love how the Clam Hex Stamp provides a nice pattern – All in all I like the flow of this page :)

Forget to check your phone! Art Journal

Do more things that make you forget to check your phone!

I used my new Exchange Place Stencil with Black gesso and added a cut out from a magazine. I painted over her with acrylic paints and markers.

For the journaling I used some self adhesive canvas .

I am working to do more things again that make me forget my phone. How about you? :)

When Gossip Dies – Art Journal

“Gossip dies when it hits a wise person’s ears” – what a wise quote :) – Not mine unfortunately I didn’t see a name attached to it.

this spread started out with a mono printed page and it somehow reminded me of a One Thousand and One Night Scenery so I picked the Star Struck and Santa Fe Stencil to build up on the theme.

I used a calligraphy pen to write the journaling and added some white on top of it.

some pencil marks and some additional “houses” and done. I had fun with this.

I Believe Her – Art Journal

“She was powerful not because she wasn’t scared but because she went on so strongly, despite the fear”

Sometimes my art journaling is indeed influenced by current events and it is therapeutic.

The day I created this journal spread I was gutted, and sad and I still am.

Today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to all the women and men out there that endured something like this : I Believe You!
