Foam Stamped Memory Game Tutorial

For our monthly playdate in October, Kim and I got together to make our own Memory Games. Remember those? Haha

We gathered some acrylic paint, a brayer, and enough foam stamps to do 18 different patterns (our memory set included 18 pairs of cards). The Mini Foam Stamps are perfect for this because the patterns are small enough for the little cards. You don’t necessarily need 18 different foam stamps to do this either – you could use different color paint with the same pattern foam stamp to get your sets. That might even add a level of challenge to the game!

What did we use for cards? Well…

We found some really cheap sets online (you can see the one we used in the links below) and just repurposed them into our own awesome sets :)

We just painted over the two sides with a solid color. It could take a couple coats of paint or a coat of gesso first and then a coat of paint.

Then it was time to start making pairs… Here are some that use stamps from my Mini Hex Set.

Here I’m using my Mini Versailles foam stamp and some bright red paint with a brayer.

Then I placed the painted card onto the center of the stamp.

Pressing down evenly and firmly…

And Tada! One card of the matching set done. Repeat the process on the other to make the pair – we tried to line the pattern up in the same spot on the matching card – sometimes more successfully than others ;)

Kim worked on a bright green background and stamped out different matching pairs.

Some came out a bit grungy but this is your own unique set so it definitely doesn’t need to look perfect.

In the end I used lots of different patterns and colors.

Definitely a fun and probably more challenging version of the original memory game!

Get it – Art Journal

“Ask for what you want and be prepared to …get it”

I started out the background playing by stamping the Space Oddity and the Mini Oddity Stamp with acrylic paint on top of each other which I liked very much.

I then added a layer of green and yellow ink over it- which I liked a lot as well- but the two stamps are almost too subtle now. I love that I now know though that the two on top work great and are a fun way to add a new pattern as well.

I painted the lady with loose brush strokes and black acrylic paint on top – it was a fun page to play and try some different things. And that is what an art journal often is about for me- trying and playing and just going along.

Reveal Less – Art Journal

The less you reveal the more people can wonder :)

I wanted to try how it looks when I use the mini Beacon Foam Stamp from the Mini Tile Set and the normal sized Beacon Foam Stampon top of each other – and I am in Love :)

Better Person – Art Journal

I truly am a better person in summer :) 100%

For this spread I had fun using my new Mini Hex Set. It is soooo cute …in summer, fall,  winter …you get the picture ;)

What I love about foam stamps is that you can use them with acrylic paint and furthermore- depending on what paint you use, the texture you can create with them.

I used all the stamps in the set – but of course you can also make awesome pattern with just using one of them repeatedly.

Raiders of the Lost Stash – Tania Ahmed

  

Hello and welcome to a new theme from the Creative Squad! Today we have Tania Ahmed with us to share an adorable project with us using a mini birdhouse bank she had tucked away in her stash. She is also using my Clam Hex and Exchange Place foam stamps and this month’s theme: Raiders of the Lost Stash – It’s time to raid your stash of art making stuff. Pick a few things you’ve tucked away for later and use them NOW. Maybe you have some leftover scraps or deli papers that you couldn’t bear to part with. Maybe you’ve squirreled away a new product that you’ve been meaning to try. The time is now! Raid your stash and try it :)

This month we were challenged to use some of the newer ArtFoamies and some of the earlier releases! We were also encouraged to dig things out of our stash that we had been hoarding. So I fished out a birdhouse that I had been saving to alter.

I started by painting the birdhouse with white acrylic paint.

Luckily for me, the Exchange Place ArtFoamie stamp fit perfectly under the roof of the bird house! I brayered Opera Rose paint on to the stamp to get an even coating and stamped all the sides of the bird house.

I then stamped the Clam Hex ArtFoamie on the roof.

After drying the paint I inked all the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

To finish the project I added some metal trinkets I had in my supplies and added word sticker.

Empowering Art Journal Spread

It’s so empowering to say “this isn’t serving me” and walk away…as long as you are not a meany about it.

Ha- LOL- this spread is all over the place …but it was fun to play around. I also used my new Amsterdam Foam Stamps – small and big :)

This spread started as a demo page in one of my workshops and I think the lady sketched in green just didn’t really do it for me …but heck …you know ….it is not always about a masterpiece it is also about just trying things and playing. And I also think it is about being kind to yourself – why beating yourself up for something that is supposed to be fun and loose and bring you joy.

Alas: I do love the color combination and the background with the houses and the Amsterdam pattern. There…much better ;)

Nat’s Foam Stamp Pattern Book – Video

Remember those big giant wall paper pattern books you could look at tapestry and wall paper stores? Maybe you still can – it has been a while since I was in a wall paper store …but one morning I woke up and thought- WHY did I not think earlier of making one with my foam stamps …and there you go – here it is :)

    I use to love those wallpaper books and even had a bunch of them many years ago when a store was getting rid of them near me.
    This really shows how the patterns look when you design a whole page with your stamps and foamies. Love love this idea Nat.

Thinking too much – Artjournal

“I think …I think too much….” – No seriously- LOL.

Played with my new Diamond Hex Foam Stamp –

love how this turned out with the light color on the dark background.

actually I am pleased with the hole color combo – it just kind of came together and I played with different green tones as well when I painted the lady and the table – and then I loved how it popped off the page :)

NEW Rubber Stamps and Mini Foam Stamps!!!

Are you ready for some new releases and samples? – There is a lot fun stuff in this post -but first- the designs :)

This new RubberMoon cling rubber stamp set includes 6 large circular stamps along with one ornament topper stamp. Circle stamps measure approx. 3″x3″.

AND …we have those in a smaller size as well  with the circle stamps measuring approx.1″x1″ :)

But wait there is more …we also have some new Mini ArtFoamies Sets in the house. A Mini Hex Set with all of my four hexagon stamps in sizes which are between 2.125″x2.5″ and 2.5″x2.75″.

And a Mini Tile Set– with sizes between 2.25″x2.25″ and 2.875″x2.875″.

Let me show you some samples our Creative Squad and I made with the new RubberMoon Stamps :)

So the fun thing I added to the Circle Jumble Sets is a little topper which gives you the possibility to turn the circles into ornaments or use the topper as a fun little stamp for borders and patterns.

Here I created some super simple Holiday Cards with the Large Circle Jumble Set.

Jennifer created this super cute stained glass ornament using the Broadway Circle and the Topper from the Large Circle Jumble Set as well.

In this art journal spread I am using the Large Circle Jumble Set set as well as the Small Circle Jumble Set with embossing powders.

Maura used the Small Circle Jumble Set  for this pretty holiday card and added some pretty writing with a gold pen to “hang them” .

For this mix of cards I used both sets- for the left and middle one creating borders with the topper but also mixing up both sets once again.

For the cards above I played around with both sets and created a cohesive note card sets, which I can use for various occasions.

Tania created this gorgeous Small Circle Jumble card overlaying the circles in different colors.

Josefine made a bunch of cards mixing up both the Large and Small Circle Jumble sets for some added dimension.

For the art journal spread above i played with both sets and made some Mandalas. I could have colored them in as well -but I loved the black and white look at the moment more :)

And Kae Pea the owner of RubberMoon made this gorgeous Bohemian Star on a canvas!

The Mini Hex Set is just super adorable!!! You can mix it with the regular sized Hexes as well.

Here is an art journal page where I just used all of them- but of course you can use them individually to create patterns- just like their big sisters :)
