12 Days of California Part II: My Stampendous Stamps Debut at CHA

NatKalbach_Stampendous04

Seeing my own stamp designs and my photo at the Stampendous Booth was sooooo cool.

NatKalbach_Stampendous05

I came into the Convention Center a little bit before my class started and took a peek at the booth…(the show wasn’t open to the public yet)

NatKalbach_Stampendous06

I was all by myself and I was looking at this in disbelieve- it honestly felt unreal as if the alarm clock would ring the next minute to make me wake up and realize this was just a dream. Instead my alarm went off that I would have to run to my first CHA class ever- 50 Retailers – waiting to play with my Stamps and other Stampendous Products.

NatKalbachCHAClass

It was a fun class- and after an uncomfortable two seconds realizing that someone hung a microphone on my clothes “FREAK- I never had a mic while teaching” I got the hang out of it, as I already started loosing my voice after teaching the last two days six classes at ArtVenture. I was also happy to see some familiar faces from either working together before or students that took my ArtVenture Class- that was fun!

NatKalbach_Stampendous01

Teaching Retailers is definitely different. A lot of my students in this class did not come because they love Mixed Media- but because they wanted to get educated in Mixed Media and learn about it because they realized there is a huge demand for it in their stores. It was a very different approach in this class when my usual let loose and get creative.  I enjoyed when some of them that never played with paint told me they liked it a lot and get their costumer love for it :) Right on ;)

NatKalbach_Stampendous02

And btw not every teacher at CHA as a good friend like JumpStarter Joe Rotella who comes with a chef hat into your class to deliver lunch because he knows you never eat right at CHA ;) Thank you Joe- that made me laugh so hard…too bad I had a mic – my already loud laughing must have scared my students a lot – LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous03

I learned a lot  by teaching this class and hopefully there will be another opportunity for a CHA class in the future. I loved seeing my stamps being used – it made me all giddy :)

NatKalbach_Stampendous14

NatKalbach_Stampendous18

NatKalbach_Stampendous19

Thank you Liquitex, Speedball,  May Arts and Imagine Crafts(Tsukineko) for sponsoring my Stampendous Class!

NatKalbach_Stampendous09

I demoed also a couple days at the Stampendous booth…until I lost my voice totally – but hey…I sounded really interesting- LOL

NatKalbach_Stampendous10

NatKalbach_Stampendous20

And I loved having friends over and Cindy Bundy from the Stampendous Designteam showing me her sample

NatKalbach_Stampendous11

Thank you to all of you who took my CHA Class and came to see my demos ! Thank you also to the awesome Stampendous Staff who did such an amazing job behind the scenes and helped me during and after my classes!

I am going to add a list of the stores that cary my stamps to my website here soon – they are already available and I know some stores have them already in the house :)

More about CHA and which trends I observed will follow :)

have a gorgeous day

huge hugs

I’m so proud of you and your growth in the mixed media field.
It didn’t dawn on me that you would be teaching retailers, but that makes sense when I thing of who attends CHA. I bet most of them had fun even if they started the day with thoughts of getting info just for their customers.
You r-o-c-k Nat and now more of the creative world knows it!

12 Days of California Part I: Prima Art*Venture

NatKalbach_ArtVenture11

I am back from my 12 day long trip to California – it was insane…as in insane work and fun! Well…always good if you can combine both words fun AND work. I am exhausted but nonetheless I want to share some events along the trip- let’s start with the Prima Art*Venture Workshop Retreat. 160 students – 2 days- six workshops – fun…and a toast voice.

NatKalbach_ArtVenture02

We set up the class rooms till late night the day before the event – look at all the class kits:

NatKalbach_ArtVenture01

I taught a Wallhanger Class with the new Stationer’s Desk Line by Prima – here is the project and some details
NatKalbachHeritageRoad01

NatKalbachHeritageRoad02

I had a great time with the wonderful students attending the classes – from all over the country and also from Europe and Asia- so amazing!

160 Students- 160 different ways to create the wall hanger- here are just two:

It was fun spending time with the other teachers and friends from Prima including Sharon, Carrie, Anna, Steffi, Jamie, Limor and Frank as well as Denny who did such a fab job on organizing the event. Thank you also to Elena and my two wonderful helpers Cam and Lisa from Charity Wings– you girls rocked!

lunch

(last picture stolen from Sharon ;) ) I did not take that many photos – I am missing most of my sweet people- but oh well- LOL- sorry ;)

Thank you all – also for taking care of me when I got food poisoning or whatever it was what made me sick and dizzy at the end of my fifth class – I am glad I was able to at least finish the instructions and laying down for half an hour in between really helped me to be able to go through the rest of the day and last class.

Tomorrow I will tell more about my class at CHA and the debut of my stamps with Stampendous :)

have a gorgeous day

Give The Gift Of Creativity

Gift20

Only 6 days until Christmas. Need a gift for a creative artist or crafter? You can now give someone a gift certificate to CJS 2014.

Just select the “$20 Gift Certificate” product in the n*Studio shop and check out online. (/shop/gift-certificate/20-gift-certificate/) On the billing and payment page, you’ll find a section to name the person you want to give CJS to. Just enter their name and email address along with a personalized note.

The recipient will then get an email from n*Studio that includes a discount code for anything in the n*Studio shop. If you want to give the gift certificate to the recipient personally- just have it sent to you and you can print it out.

All they have to do then is add Creative JumpStart 2014 to their cart and checkout using the code. And voila, they’re in!

I will also add other gift certificates later today with different values if you want to gift one of my online workshops in the shop.

Wishing you a wonderful day

hugs

New Class Series at The InkPad in NYC

NatKalbach_ArtvergnugenAd

So excited about this new series of once a month Art Journaling workshops with different topics which I will teach at The InkPad in New York City.

It starts the moment you sit down, an experience that is distinctly Art Journaling. A quick exhilaration, a sense of control, the art media’s surprising responsiveness as if they were simply an extension of you.

There is a word for this creative experience: Artvergnugen ! Artvergnugen is what makes your journal a piece of art.

Join Nathalie once a month and play each time with a different art medium or supply. Learn techniques, tips and tricks to take your art journaling further and turn it into Artvergnugen.

You will have to bring basic supplies – list below – while Nathalie will bring the art medium/supply of the month for you to share. Sign up for as many of the sessions you want but be quick – space is limited.

  • Session One: Stamps – January 31st

Unleash Your Creativity or…Why I have been biting off my tongue

It has been an insane year already with the move overseas and if you are waiting for an email…bear with me – I am drowning in emails, setting up a cozy home, workshops and … I have been biting off my tongue for many months now because…I have also been working on a huge secret project..which is tied up with something else…and here it is …Can you spy the bigger news that are included in this already (big for me) announcement?

NatKalbach_UnleashCreativity

I am so thrilled and it was hard to not tell anyone…but the biting is not over ;) I so cannot wait to show you the designs when it comes closer to CHA. They are so me and I am very excited about them. Thank YOU my readers for your encouragements over the last years and support – without you, this would have never happened. I have been dreaming of this FOREVER and as some of you know I have been VERY close once to this a couple years ago but alas…it wasn’t supposed to be. But this time…it is – I am holding my babies in my hand already  :) If you are a retailer and interested in taking my class sponsored by Stampendous and Liquitex at CHA – you can sign up starting today November 12th (the CHA website crashed when the registration opened this morning- so they have to fix this)! All others…don’t be sad, there will be lot’s of fun coming up the next months :)

Sending a super big hug with a huge almost-around-the- face-if-not-there-were-ears-smile on my face to you

Nat

A rare sight …or Farbtupfer

NathalieKalbach_Farbtupger_02

At the Baltic Sea event I taught a Scrapbooking – Layout class. I only had 1 1/2 hours for this and that made it a challenge for me- LOL. I usually do not teach workshops that short- especially since mixed media related workshops need way more time and…I do usually not teach Layout classes. But hey…sometimes it is fun to do something different- and I was told the students liked it :) It was also a good way to start the workshop event since most of my students NEVER did anything Mixed-Media related…so I started slow and then had them bath in paint full force by sunday- LOL.

NathalieKalbach_Farbtupger_04

So …here is the layout…I had three samples- so the students could see how choosing different ways of colors effect the layout differently.

NathalieKalbach_Farbtupger_01

We used Ranger Dylusions and Distress Paints in many different ways incorporating different techniques for different effects.

NathalieKalbach_Farbtupger_03

And now…what does Farbtupfer mean? mmmh – interesting enough I cannot find a real word for this in English – It means spots of color or specks of color – which wouldn’t make a good title for a workshop in English- LOL.

I tell you, sometimes the challenge for me is finding a name for workshops that would work in both languages and it is not always possible ;)

have a colorful day :)

Nat

oohh all 3 are beautiful but my favorite is the one with the only other color being red :-). As for english translation for farbentupfer – color splatters…. is what comes to mind.

Great job Nathalie, with those “splashes of colour” …which might make a better name than “spots of colour” or even “colour highlights” ;)

Stockholm Scrap & Pearl Event- Photos

NathalieKalbach_SPE02

I had such a wonderful time in Sweden, Stockholm last weekend at the Scrap & Pearl Event. Sofia and Peter organized this amazing event where about 1000 people came to crop, craft and have a good time. 21 stores were also making sure the shopping fun got included. Here is a photo of the place before the event – add some table lines to the left and you might get a little feel of how big it was ;).

NathalieKalbach_SPE01

It was massive and I have the biggest respect for Sofia and Peter putting this event together. They did an AWESOME job organizing it! I have never seen such a huge amount of goodie bags and since I am used to packing kits which takes FOREVER – I can only imagine how much time went just into packing these – well actually I know how long it took the two of them plus their kids to pack them…you don’t even wanna know!

NathalieKalbach_SPE03

I taught 3 classes that were all sold out – and I had so much fun with my super talented and fun Swedish students. We laughed a lot. Here are some pictures of my Be Awesome, Be a Book Nut Class which I taught two times.

NathalieKalbach_SPE04

And here are a few ladies I caught to take a picture off after my Portrait of a Lady class, I still have to get better at taking photos at workshops ;)

NathalieKalbach_SPE05

Another highlight was as always meeting many wonderful new and also some people I know. Here is one of my most loyal online students Anne Kristin. It was so wonderful to finally meet her in person!

NathalieKalbach_SPE06

And Sara, who shared her beautiful book with me where she played along with our The Whatevers! So much fun to see this !

NathalieKalbach_SPE07

Kattiz from K-Designs who creates wonderful paper- lovveeee it- and I will actually teach a layout class with some of her paper soon at the Ostsee Scrap Event. Wonderful personality too! I will share some work with her papers soon :)

NathalieKalbach_SPE08

Anna Björklund who was one of my super talented Jumpstarters in this year’s Creative JumpStart. She is wonderful and I am so happy I had the chance to spent some time with her at breakfast!

NathalieKalbach_SPE09

And Sofia of course who rocked organizing the event and who makes me laugh a lot :)

NathalieKalbach_SPE10

Many many other amazing people I loved to meet- including my sweet Danish Friends and Mia and Per- too bad we didn’t take a photo! It was wonderful to see you again!

And here is a picture of the yummiest sweetest gift I have EVER received by a student. This cake is to die for and my husband agrees…I have to hide it from him – LOL – Thank you so much Ulrika- you are AWESoME and I still think you should open a cafe with homemade cake…maybe with a little craft area? !

Also thank you Gerd for the wonderful book you gave me and Tammy for the yummy Chocolate! I am sooo spoiled – I have the best students EVER!

NathalieKalbach_SPE12

And I know by now you might be tired of my pictures…but I cannot leave you without showing you this picture of my loved ones while talking to them online from Stockholm….the look at our cat makes me laugh soooo much. Poor guy- he could just not comprehend where the voice was coming from -LOL

NathalieKalbach_SPE13

Wishing you a gorgeous day

Announcement: ArtFusion in The Netherlands Changes of Location and Date

We Heard You!!

Yes, we did! On our announcement of the Artfusion Event we planned we got a lot of comments about the location. Many of you asked us why we didn’t plan it somewhere in the middle of the Netherlands. It would be easier for you to get there and it would also increase the travel distance/time for a lot of you. Also we heard that April was already so full of events and stuff.
And we agree! So we decided to postpone the event and find a better location. We think we found the perfect place!

Artfusion will now take place June 15-16 in the middle of the lovely city of Utrecht. Being a big railways junction in the Netherlands and only 45 minutes by train from Schiphol airport we think Utrecht is one of the best places we could have chosen.

The facility (Kade Ateliers) is a canal house at the Leidsekade 17, near the center of Utrecht where we have the availability of 2 lovely, light rooms. As we see it, we have all the ingredients for an amazing creative weekend on hand here.

Here are some pictures of the location:

We also made some changes in the workshops. You will find the schedule, the workshops and prices below:

SATURDAY, JUNE 15:

9.30 – 13.00 – Season Canvas Workshop by Nathalie Kalbach

In this Workshop with Nathalie Kalbach, you will create a stunning and unique canvas that will be a wonderful home décor item.

Learn how to create dimension and texture with tissue paper, items of daily life, acrylic paint, lace, burlap, and gesso.

Learn how to reveal the interesting and eye-catching texture with acrylic paints and acrylic inks and add some fun stamping techniques on top.

We will be adding lots of layers and dimension to make this a spring, summer, fall or winter canvas… just as you like. All the techniques can easily be applied to future projects.

14.00 – 17.30 Embossing and Beyond Mini Album Workshop by Birgit Koopsen
