What’s The Point or…New Stencil with Stencil Girl Products

WhatsthepointKalbach

Ohhh I am so excited about this new What’s The Point stencil too because it has so many possibilities.

NathalieKalbach_WhatsThePoint01

For this Scrapbooking layout I used my new What’s The Point Stencil with PanPastels. Beforehand I had also treated the paper with PanPastels, then laid the stencil on top and dabbed the paint through. I love how vibrant the dots become.

NathalieKalbach_WhatsThePoint02

The photo btw shows my grand-aunt with I think some friends…I found this photo when I was moving her apartment and it made me laugh hard. I hope I can trigger her memory on the story behind this :)

NathalieKalbach_WhatsThePoint03

It is a fun stencil to tie elements together :) and I hope you like it

Remember or…Excited for the roads to be traveled

NathalieKalbach_RememberAJ01

Played a bit around in my art journal using my new Oldtimer Stencil and Liquitex Acrylic Inks. I  collaged a bit on the background and tried some new stamps I found in a junk yard kinda store in the neighbor hood and then sprayed with Liquitex Spray inks over the oldtimer stencil and then rubbed over the Acrylic Inks-

NathalieKalbach_RememberAJ02

Love how intense the colors got and how the spray painted areas got so much dimension.

Hope you have some time for creating today!

Relaxed or…Art Journal Page with Photos

NathalieKalbach_BalticSeaAJ01

Thank you all for your amazing and wonderful words about my move to the U.S. As some of you stated, it is a scary yet pretty exciting thing ahead. I have been a bit tense the last couple weeks as there is just so much to organize and do for the move, and one of the things that totally relaxed me for a couple of days was my workshop event at the Baltic Sea. Walking at the beach in the morning for a couple of hours was one fo the best things I have done for just calming down and actually also getting my mantra back into my head “Everything will work out perfectly” .

NathalieKalbach_BalticSeaAJ02

The crazy background is a result of several things that I was showing in classes or where I tried things out in my art journal page. Lot’s of layers and different paint media and materials, tied together with my new Circuit Stencil and Crackle Stencil :)

NathalieKalbach_BalticSeaAJ03

I usually do not use photos in my art journal- but somehow this was telling me I should because the photos in this case would speak more to me then the background or the journaling and remind me on how relaxing this all was :)

NathalieKalbach_BalticSeaAJ04

Are you using photos in your art journals?

Have a gorgeous day

Nat

I have done quite a few mixed media pieces with photos of our dogs. I usually start by painting out the background on the photo but have been known to cut my subject out of the photo. These pieces make a wonderful remembrance of dearly departed pets.

Funny you should ask. I just did last night. I do from time to time if I don’t feel like doing a 12X12 LO and want to have some fun with the techniques. I really must post my Whatevers LO from two times ago. It was tons of fun to play with the stories (before deciding on just one).

Sometime I do use pictures in my mini journal. Often I modify the original and maybe do a weird collage with them. I love to play with my pictures but most often it is on scrapbook pages, not as much in my art journal. Good luck with your move!!

My new Oldtimer Stencil with Stencil Girl Products

This Oldtimer Stencil makes the third stencil with Stencil Girl Products out by me :) The stencil is actually 6×6 inches big- and on my layout you see the bigger version- which we decided not to use- I like it smaller better. But nonetheless this is the design :)

NathalieKalbach_OldtimerStencil

I did a layout using the stencil with Dylusion Spraypaints.

NathalieKalbach_Oldtimer60_01

I love oldtimer cars  and I love how you can use it also for more male oriented layouts as well as on art journal pages in the background. Especially when it is the 6×6 size. I will show more samples as soon.

NathalieKalbach_Oldtimer60_03

I used the photo before. It totally cracks me up. My great-uncle Hans is in the background, in the front is a friend of him and my aunt Margot with a fishing rod and then…hahahahahah- I tell you what- I didn’t even notice last time I used the photo …my aunt is sitting in the car!

NathalieKalbach_Oldtimer60_04

So why would you take a photo of two dudes on a fishing trip, the car placed in the picture and have the wife sit in the car? LOL. Makes me crack up!

NathalieKalbach_Oldtimer60_02

Hope you like it :) Here is what I used for the layout:

Zipper Moments with the Crackle Stencil

I created this layout using my new Crackle Stencil for Stencil Girl Products.

NathalieKalbach_ZipperMoments01

I used Acrylic Paint with the Crackle Stencil – it such a quick and fast drying way to apply crackle to paper. Then I colored the background with Distress Inks.

Sometimes a blurry photo of a special event unfolds a variety of wonderful memories . NathalieKalbach_ZipperMoments02

I also used some Stampendous Fran*Tage Embossing Powder- I so love it!

NathalieKalbach_ZipperMoments03

I used a zipper and threaded in the Prima Zipper Embellishment and also cut and divided part of the zipper and attached it on the layout.

NathalieKalbach_ZipperMoments04

I distressed the photo even more by using the Prima Distressing Tool.

My new Crackle Stencil with Stencil Girl Products

Yeahhhh – my next two stencils are out with Stencil Girl Products. Let me show you the one I am the most excited about- it is my dream stencil- the one I always wanted to have – my Crackle Stencil

NathalieKalbach_CrackleStencil

Here is an art journal page using the stencil with light modeling paste

NathalieKalbach_CrackleRH01

It dries quick and it is a great way to apply the crackle effect to all kinds of surfaces and not just acrylic painted surfaces.

NathalieKalbach_CrackleRH02

The stencil is 9×12 inches and I love that you can use it the size as is or just parts as I did to add some texture and a layer here and there.

NathalieKalbach_CrackleRH03

I so hope you like it too :) Here is what I used to create the art journal spread:

Stencil Test Drive Cascading Leaves or…Forget Perfection

Jessica Sporn asked me  and some other artists to be part of her Stencil Test Drive featuring her amazing new stencils for Stencil Girl Products.

Stencil Test Drive Logo

Today along with some others I will show you the use of the Cascading Leaves Stencil. I love this stencil. You can either use it as it is in whole or use little parts of it here and there or even make a frame.

Perfection_NatKalbach

In my art journal spread I used it for the background several times layered up with acrylic spray paints and I loved how beautifully the stencil created a deep dimensional feel. I touched it up with some letterpress images, oil based inks and markers. Then I used the stencil for framing the spread.

Take a Shower Art Journal Page…or Negative Circuit Stencil

Loved creating this art journal page using my new Stencil Girl Product Circuit Stencil

NathalieKalbach_CircuitShower01

The Journaling says “Shower in the good things of life and your heart will shine”.

I had created a background with Dylusions Spray Paints and had it in my art journal for later usage. Something I do often when I spray a stencil is using the excess paint on top of the stencil for a different project as a negative.

Here I had sprayed  onto a different page in the art journal with Liquitex Professional Spray paint

IMG_4611

I then simply flip the stencil over to a different page- either already prepared with a painted background or onto a white one – and brayer over it to get the excess paint over.

NathalieKalbach_CircuitShower05

Which can then result in something like this

NathalieKalbach_CircuitShower03

And then I took it from there to create my art journal page. And yes…I might be I am biased regarding my own stencil but boy do I love the negative outcome of it too. So basically you get a pretty cool two-in-one design.

NathalieKalbach_CircuitShower02

BTW…did you spy something else on the page? ;) ;) ;)

Family Moments with the Circuit Stencil

Hold your horses ;) I show you a  Scrapbooking Layout today which is using my new Circuit Stencil with Stencil Girl Products. Thank you all for your amazing and wonderful comments – they mean a lot to me :)

NathalieKalbach_CircuitFamilyMoments01

Still laughing about this photo which shows the three of us doing a Facetime call when I was teaching in Stockholm. I used some Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and swiped it with a Palette Knife over the Circuit Stencil onto a white sheet of Cardstock.  I love the texture the Heavy Body Acrylic Paint gives when used with a stencil.

NathalieKalbach_CircuitFamilyMoments02

I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks with a Blending Tool and colored in the background over the stenciled area and then applied the Papers. I love how you can also use the Circuit Lines as a guideline for the journaling.

NathalieKalbach_CircuitFamilyMoments03

Several of you asked where to buy the stencil – you can either buy it directly from Stencil Girl Products but I also know that there are a couple of stores interested in stocking them. I am sure once there are more designs revealed ;) I can provide you with links of stores that carry them. I am working on a page for my Stencils on the blog. Sooooonnn – LOL -the back and forth with the testing takes a bit longer when you sit over the pond ;)
