You Matter – Art Journal

First I used a credit card to disperse some left over pink acrylic paint for the start of my background. I also stamped with my Central Ave Foam stamp and sprayed grey spray paint over my Circuit stencil.

I stamped my Row Houses foam stamp with black acrylic paint and also added some collage pieces and an old calendar of mine with paintings that I had cut up.

I sketched my figure on deli paper and added my journaling with a fude pen.

In addition to my collage elements, here are some of the supplies I used.

Bring it On – Art Journal

“What if things get even crazier from now on… the ride never stops …bring it on.”

This is the first page in my newly bought ledger from 1880/90. I bought 3 and they are not used at all. They came from an estate sale and I bought them specifically for Art Journaling. I have a little weird thing that I am hesitant to fill the first page in any book that I love – when it is handbound or special. I used to be so angry at myself when I messed a sketchbook or diary or art journal up on the first page (meaning I wasn’t thrilled) that I would just burry it in a pile of stuff to not be reminded of it anymore.

Anyway, in order to not fall into that trap here (hahaha) I decided to build up my page on a piece of Grafix Dur-a-lar and adhere that to the first page, so I had a bit of time to decide if I was cool with it ;)

Here’s how I built up the page: I started with a Gelli Plate print with acrylic paints and my Batik and Lily Wallpaper stencils right on the Dur-a-lar. Then I used some collage paper – letters, stamped collage paper (using my Mini Motifs rubber stamps), and a piece from a painting on canvas that I cut apart. Next I made a sketch on deli paper and added some marks with gouache paint and my Triangle Love stamps with archival ink. I layered and adhered it all with double sided tape and a glue stick.

Keep Pushing – Art Journal

Keep pushing your luck!

I am challenging myself to use up the collage pile I have collected in my one of my letterpress drawers over the years – it is fun to go through the bits and pieces and finally use them for some art journal pages.

I stenciled with acrylic paints through my Manhattan stencil and I also cut a triangle from black paper where I had used my Valley Road stencil. I added a magazine image (the green and black fencing behind the lady) and used some leftover deli paper with yellow and black paint as I loved the texture on it.

I sketched my figure and even gave her jacket a little pattern using my Art Tag rubber stamp. Then I used my Hydrant foam stamp which I had previously stamped with acrylic paint on paper.

Art Journal Flip Through – August 2021

Here’s an Art Journal Flip Through of a journal that I kept pretty much for at least 4-5 years. It had some pages that were published and therefore it stayed at the publisher for a while and then I eventually got it back. I used it a lot to try out new products- like stamps and stencils.

Although I do not like every page in it, some I love a lot and it is interesting to see all the different styles and even some things from several years ago that I had totally forgotten about.

Strong – Art Journal

I used some of our foam stamped masks from our Votive Candle Playdate and attached them layered to the art journal page. Here are Row Houses, Brownstone, and Lady Liberty.

I liked the raised look of the Grafix Wet Medium sheet with the acrylic paint and didn’t want to add anything to the background besides the journaling.

It’s not ZERO – Art Journal

And I am using a bit of profanity in here too because I am annoyed with all these “but my freedom” people.

I used two collage papers from my stash for this one including the suminagashi paper above. There is also my Lady Liberty foam stamp and the zero is a block print from my wooden letter press numbers printed on deli paper using Speedball Fabric Ink and a Speedball press.

The other collage paper is my Signals stencil which I though worked nicely with the suminagashi print.

Minding my own Business – Art Journal

This was some paper which I had used to clean up my gelli plate – hence the grungy background. Then I just stamped with the back of the Hydrant foam stamp in yellow and the patterned part in black – Tongue in Cheak …cheek… well you know ;) Cannot stop using the Hydrant !

Ode to a City – Art Journal

For this spread I used my new foam stamps and acrylic paints. These were actually all kinds of test stamp sheets for our product photos but I loved the vibrant colors and thought it would be fun to layer them up.

Here is Hydrant looking very cute in pink and of course Lady Liberty in green. I stamped both Powerhouse and Brownstone along with my Powerhouse Rubber Stamp and Brownstone Rubber Stamp.

I was journaling just random thoughts on why I love living in a city.

Here is Church and Row Houses too. I just layered them as I wanted and then added a double sided adhesive to the back and cut where the journal fold is so it would be easy to open and close.

Time Traveler – Art Journal

“See… I am a time traveler… I travel 60 mins an hour to the future.”

For this art journal spread, I was playing with my new ArtFoamies on a Gelli Plate.

I rolled out magenta acrylic paint on my Gelli plate, then pushed the foam stamps into it to lift the paint and let it dry. Then I rolled out white paint on top and pulled a print while the paint was still wet – this takes off the dried paint as well. Also bits and pieces that were dried to the plate before I rolled out the magenta color came up too here and there and I love the grungy look that resulted.

and here is Church peeking through some yummy grunginess.

I pasted these prints into my art journal and then also stamped some of the foam stamps inked up with Versafine ink in there too to add some other elements.

I used my E-Train rubber stamp with black archival ink for some detail and also my Love Knots rubber stamp with yellow ink from the Embroidery set.
