Hope is what keeps us going – Art Journal

This started as a page where I had scraped off some paint at the back of my art journal and while the color combination was first not striking and now feel it works quite well :)

I painted over a magazine image with Neopastels and used my new My Home is my Castle numerals stamps as well as some of the building stamps from the Stroll Around The Block set.

I included the Hope – and Love Tag into the journaling. I like how the buildings stamped with white ink are playing well with the the marks and stamping of the background.

My Home is My Castle – Card

Using some large kraft tags I made a little accordion card for some friends who just moved.

I stamped the different houses from my Stroll Around the Block set as well as the stamps from the My Home is My Castle set on the different panels.

I used some watercolor to add some color here and there and added some words to the street sign :)

I love using kraft paper- it is also surprisingly making some of the watercolors appear more opaque – so I learned something :)

I want all those houses …or maybe just one- …LOL- I woudl take any of them :)

Rubber Stamped Ornament Merriment

Kim and I had our monthly playdate and made some Christmas Ornaments and Gift Tags. OH that was so much fun!

We mostly used my new RubberMoon Stroll Around The Block and My Home is My Castle stamp as well as some small stamps from the release before.

We used some chipboard drink coasters and stamped on top of them with black archival ink

For some I used Eclipse Tape – which has a tacky side, stamped on top to duplicate the stamped image and mask off the image on the coaster.

It is such an easy and fun way to create a scenery by working from the foreground to the background.

Here is the midcentury house now appearing behind the craftsman house.

The cool thing about the Eclipse Tape is that you can reuse it.

We also stamped on top of some wooden small tags.

And then we were ready to start the fun.

We used watercolors

and watercolor pencils- I love he vibrancy of the Caran D’Ache Museum Aquarelle pencils.

I also mixed the pencils with some Gouache paint. Love how the the transparency of the watercolor pencils and the opacity of the gouache work look together.

Using my very old, very beloved Japanese Screw Punch we made holes into our ornaments and threaded some string through it for hangers.

Look at the details in Kim’s ornaments- I love this so much – She created little Christmas lights, and wreath and garlands, and even some candles in the window.

And the wreath in watercolor around the Cape Cod – soooo love it.

I think this was our favorite Playdates so far :)

And here are mine hanging in the tree- I really like how they look like- the colors really pop off the tree

Home Away from Home

Today: Dreaming of a little home away from home to soak in some sun, relax and let the world go round without me!

Don’t we all have days like that :) ?

I used the numerals stamp from my Home is my Castle stamp set and stamped it on tape – love the look. I also stamped my art deco stamp from the Stroll Around the Block stamp set and then added some of the Cardboard stamps around it

Some stenciling with the Chicago Stencil and some marks with a soft pencil. I love when the cardboard kind of looks as it comes out through a torn layer of paper, which can be easily achieved with those stamps by only partly inking and stamping them.

Clack Clack Clack – Art Journal

Strolling around the block :) I really love this color combination which is not my usual suspect

I drew the lady with acrylic paints and neopastels and boy- do I want that jacket – LOL. I stamped with some of my Stroll Around the Block houses and made a lot of marks and patterns.

I love how the Neopastels also create a nice textured look (blue line)  in comparison to the smooth look of acrylic markers (red lines and orange x’s).

And of course played with the contrast of colors here too.

It’s a beautiful day in neighborhood!

“It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is a song from a show called Mr. Rogers, which I have never seen because it was not really running in Germany – but once in a while one of my friends sing it for fun – and so it got stuck with me and I love it. For those of you who do not know the lyrics:

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

It’s a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let’s make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we’re together, we might as well say,

I used my new RubberMoon Stamp Sets – Stroll Around the Block and My Home is My Castle with the journal spread. I used the small windows and doors and turned them into cassettes of the doors in – so much fun to play with this.

We do have a pretty cool neighborhood with lots of friends living close by and we do hang out a lot spontaneously – in the summer on the stoop – in the winter in one of our places.

I created a weathered background using some metallic acrylic glazes and acrylic paint, then stamped on top and colored the stamps in with acrylic paints.

I added the lyrics of the song with a pencil.

This spread makes me all happy and fuzzy and now I wanna see my friends who also happen to be neighbors.

My new RubberMoon Stamp Sets are out!

So stoked for my new RubberMoon Cling Rubber Stamp sets – I just have so much fun with those stamps:

Here is the first one –Stroll Around The Block:

The Stroll Around the Block stamps are inspired by iconic American architectural styles that I saw during my travels around the US. This set includes 5 cling rubber stamps. These original hand sketched stamp designs may remind you of your childhood home, Grandma’s place, or even the house you live in today.

And the second set is called My Home Is MY Castle:

The My Home is My Castle stamps are inspired by the iconic details of American neighborhoods in the US. This set includes 8 cling rubber stamps. It is amazing how some things just never change. Do you remember what street you grew up on? What about the excitement when the mailman came? Or gazing out the window to see who might be at the front door?

Here are some sample cards that I made with both stamp sets- I will show more projects using them,  in the next couple weeks :)

A row of the Queen Anne, Craftsman and the Mid Century. I stamped with some black archival ink and then colored the stamped images in with watercolor. I just loved doing that.

Here is the Midcentury Modern from the Stroll Around the Block Set paired with the Street Sign from the My Home is My Castle set . I also added my Star Tag stamp. I left the street sign empty on purpose so that it can be filled with whatever words or names you would like to use in it.

The Craftsman – I think I will fill the street sign in with Happy Holidays and and send it out as a Holiday Card.

She wished she could go back ….

“She wished she could go back to her younger self and tell her “It’s ok, to be weird, you’ll be fine” ”

This was a demo page from a class and I blocked in some color here and there and stamped with my new Exchange Place ArtFoamies Stamp. I added some stenciling with translucent acrylic paints using my Versailles Stencils – love how this turned out. I added some stamping with my Embroidery stamps to add some more even mark making using different colors of Archival Ink Pads- love those.

I painted the lady with acrylic paints neopastels and used some of the neopastels also here and there on the spread and scratched some writing into it.

I like how the lines of the Exchange Place Stamp and the floral Versailles Stencil work together.

Go and Grow – Art Journal Spread

Grow through what you go through ….still wading through it LOL

I do have to say I love how this turned out …I did the lady with a bamboo sketching pen and then added the textured background with sepia ink and the Cardboard RubberMoon Stamp Set. Don’t I wish I looked that elegant with a hat …but alas…I do not ;)

Then I colored the lady and stamping in with some watercolor and added the Stroll Through the Hood Set 1 and 2 RubberMoon sets in black with ink.

Using my new Van Vorst Positive and Negative ArtFoamies Stamps with acrylic paint, I added a ground on the bottom picking up the green color from the lady :)
